I played FO4 for about 2 hours. For me, it's no contest. By the time I was 2 hourse deep in Witcher 3, I was hooked, and not letting go.
Here, I'm basically bored already. Writing is major fucking shit, and no mods will fix that.
Completely agreeing on that. Playing it just bored me, so I don't really think this is a game for me. I actually never liked neither FO3, nor FO: NV, so it's not a surprise really.

I had a major urge to uninstall this game shortly after getting out of the vault. It was that bad. Played it more than an hour, but nothing changed. It was actually getting worse. Another game into recycle bin after MGS5... Gaming sucks so bad right now. We don't even have game demos anymore, it's just keeps shrinking...
You dont have to scrap your junk. Just transfer them all into the construction tables and whenever a resource is needed the item will be automatically scrapped.
With perks you can unlock traderoutes between settlements which gives a shared inventory of those crafting stations.
Nice.
So, when you have established trading routes between two settlements, you have instant access to both inventories and don't have to wait for the caravan to arrive i guess?
Though, what is with more settlements? Is it enough to randomly connect two settlements together, or must one settlement connected to every other settlement you want to have access with?

And is it possible to hide your helmet?

Bump for new page.

But those already appear available at the terminal, are selectable and do not return any error messages. Also the bot blabs out blablabla "engaging routine". dafuq?
Spoiler:
I'm not sure then, sorry :\ I didn't have any of the routines at the start, the only option was to "enable Sentry" but not actually tell it do anything - so it didn't.
He is playing redlight greenlight and only moves once you go away (at least for me)
Saw him some minutes later on the road and he stopped moving. Then was gone after I killed some raiders. The bugs are getting clever lol.
Hope you at least grabbed a certain weapon near him for your troubles.
Sully Mathis (guy at the Thicket Excavations) is Brandon Keener, the VA for Garrus Vakarian, I friggin' know it! He's not listed on IMDb (though Google does show his name in connection to Fallout 4, but you can never "see" it when you follow links) -- but goddam I just know it's him Even without the tonal modulator, you can just tell Garrus' voice
Is there any point on building up base defenses ? Do they ever get randomly attacked ?
Also - power armor. I find it highly impractical - the power source depletes faster than chinese batteries. It's nuclear power, FFS...
@BloodySpy
I don't use sprint anymore while in Power Armor. Without sprinting i was doing a mission for 60-90 minutes i think. Before energy fusion core was nearly depleted.

Another question:
Do settlers need ammunition too for their weapons, or will they start shooting just fine, as long as they have some weapon in their inventory?

I can't exactly point out what the difference is between exploring in Witcher 3 and Fallout, but I gave up on exploring in WItcher 3 after all the shitty question marks. Maybe it's the setting, but exploring in FO3 and NV were much more fun for me.
I won't be playing more of it untill the weekend and I don't know how representative four hours is (especially since I play slow), but I can already sense the gameworld will be pretty good. Is teh rehashing bad? Yep. Do I think Bethesda is a lazy ass dev studio? Yep. Do I think they conveniently use the modding scene to make their games great? Hell yeah! Yet for some reason, I play every Beth game and enjoy it fully just like the Assassin's Creed iterations. I guess I just like their style, no matter how much I'm beginning to hate their fucking engine and story-telling.
only find one of 3-4 types of encounters and leveled loot
So how is it different from F04? Are there many unique random encounters in FO4? A shitload of unique loot or something ?
There's actually a bit less loot in the weapons and armor department than I expected, energy weapons for example are a bit unified now so a laser, plasma or institution energy weapon can depending on mods installed be either pistols, rifles, sniper rifles or shotguns.
(EDIT: There's a lot of mods though, later ones are usually more powerful but it can vary a bit between firing rate and raw damage plus some weapons allow for silencers.)
Most of the loot has been like that, finding what I thought was special weapons or armor and then noticing that it's the same "core" gun or armor attachment but with a different set of mods pre-applied.
That said there is also a variety of clothing and actual "real" armor that you don't stick various addons to but I haven't found anything really good yet (That beats the upgraded vault suit and studded leather bits over it.) and power armor unless I'm missing something I can only scavenge the parts from but the "skeleton" can't be moved though I do have a full set of T51 components now for when I eventually get to actually use power armor.
(I could plug a power module into a skeleton but it seems they're on a timer so I've been saving them for now, might try to get one to a power armor crafting station once I have found one I can reach before the energy cell runs out.)
Those who loved FO3 and FO:NV (and Skyrim I guess) will love FO4 since it's more of what we loved.
People who disliked or never got into FO3 simply won't like this one either since it's basically the same game as FO3 as far as design, content and game play is concerned with a few added features.

+1
It's obvious they spent unneeded time on crafting and base building and forgot about everything else. Story and writing are completely bland, so are graphics. Guns are generic now ala Borderlands and even major hubs that used to be well executed with a lot of detail in Skyrim and F3, are now empty boxy and lifeless.
- Is it possible to remove radiated places in settlements? For example at the Stardrive Drivine is some waterhole where you get radiated when going to near.
- Will you get more building options later on? The wood and steel structures get a bit bland now.
- When will finally attacks happen on settlements? :O

What did you expect? These games have never been about 'writing' or a story. They've been about just having random shit scattered across the map and having fun exploring things.

Yeah, but those place were unique, and made you go through a "little adventure" each time, with funny and memorable characters, while this fallout is blank and souless.

Imho W3 is better. But that is because in W3 there are no so called "survival" elements, like here.
I just finished scrapping a whole town to build up some stuff. Had me running around town pressing R>E, R>E to infinity. Did that for 10 minutes, almost fell asleep.
In W3 there was a very clear logic to exploring. I find it more tedious here. But that is not the main issue with the game. The main issue is, the writing is utter shit sadly.
The single point they improved upon (vastly) is the shooting. Feels much better than in FO3 - of course you have to tweak inis to make it work decently with a M/K.
Come on. I loved Witcher 3, simply THE best modern RPG for me, but how was there "logic in exploring"? Going after a bunker in FO is as logical as going for that monster nest in W3.
