Took it from this topic: https://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/846940248950664435/

(the ini edit i had already but didn't solve my issue by itself, you can ignore the windows live bullshit AFAIK)

On top of that, i did apply the 4GB patch and the last unofficial patch

Its pretty much the perfect RPG imo, focuses on the right things. I think it's just stupid to say this or that isnt an RPG since roleplaying are so many different things, and the different games focuses on the different aspects of it. Some on dialogues and romance, others on the "do what you want / make your own adventures"-part.

I never looked at Fallout 3 as a game that would satisfy the RPG geek in me. Freedom? Action? That's another story...

RP'ing is all about the freedom to me, that's what i loved and remember from P&P roleplaying. It's great that you can choose your own character too.

In this case, Dying Light is the perfect example in my case. Even if it's not an RPG, it does feel like being one, through it's character progression and open world freedom.

I should give it a more serious try some time, played the begining of it and thought it was decent.. in this department ("games that arent rpg's but feel like rpg's") STALKER is king though..

First time I played for 15 minutes and uninstalled it.

For some unknown reason at the time I gave it another try. Finished by playing it 2 times (second time on harder difficulty added as DLC) + having some fun in the co-op mode with a friend.

These polish guys have nailed it hard in terms of open world. It's just great. It feels... alive, despite the dead that populate it. Hehe...

FFS, guys, how do you make this pos game to run on Win7 x64? I used to have zero problems under WinXP (same hardware as back then... yeah...), but under Wint7, I get crashes virtually every time I get engaged in a fight.

PLease help me, I've tried all patches/fixes and tweaks that are lsited in the steam forums (it's a pretty comprehensve guide if you have your doubts), but the game still crashes.

I have the GOTY version (Unleashed) and my load order is as follows:
Fallout3.esm
Anchorage.esm
ThePitt.esm
BrokenSteel.esm
PointLookout.esm
Zeta.esm
Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm
CRAFT.esm
CALIBR.esm
iHUD.esm
FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esm
DarNifiedUIF3.esp
FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esp
FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC The Pitt.esp
FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Anchorage.esp
FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Broken Steel.esp
FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Point Lookout.esp
FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Mothership Zeta.esp
FO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional VATS Halftime.esp
CASM.esp
Merged Patch.esp

Does that list include already the large address aware memory patch? I'm using that and FOSE as well. GOTY edition (Steam) as well, running with virtually no crashes now.

I've installed/applied everything mentioned in this article, following the exact same order:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=149946772

What the above load list doesn't tell you is that I'm also using NMC's texture pack, the performance version.

The crashes happen during battles, usually when I kill an NPC. The game hangs up for a sec, then crashes to desktop. I've tried screwing around with the video settings, but even with everything set to medium, the issue persists.

The Fallout fan made to destroy his records for a refund

Quote:
Paul Watson contacted the company after finding the first disc in his four-disc Fallout 3 soundtrack had arrived warped.

Quote:
Watson provided photographic evidence and asked for a refund - which the provided. But on checking his account, it turned out he had only refunded $25 - the price of the one warped disc.

Quote:
"Hello Paul," a "special tactics and reconnaissance" agent (aka customer support rep) wrote.

"You only showed that one of the records was damaged so we refunded you for that damaged record. If the other records are similarly affected, please provide photos. However if they are not affected and you still would like a full refund for the product, please follow the instructions below for this limited edition item.

- Destroy the other records
- Provide photos of the damaged records

"Once I get those photos I will happily refund you for your order. Thank you and have a wonderful day!"

I saw people defending that shit vigorously... to me it's quite a waste and shows you there is something wrong with this world when destroying perfectly good items is considered as the best course of action.

There is enough waste already, no need to add onto that just because you have a few scammers here and there.

I really liked the atmosphere in FO3 too, more than in FNV.

What i find funny though after the video is, that the games since FO3 have basically always the same type of enemies.

I still wonder why some monsters from FO2 never appeared again, like the Wanamingo or the Centaur.

FONV is still far FAR better, but this one was a great game too. A great/good FO game? Probably not...

Following up a video that praises the game with another that eviscerates it. Very Happy

Enjoy this one and a half hour long deep dive into why uncle Todd is shit at making games. Razz

About 90h in, might as well as leave my findings here:

- Still using most of the stuff in this guide: https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/Fallout3:Unofficial-Kelmych-1.0.0
- Ditch stutter remover, get the tick fix: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/23542 and use the extended ini options
- These two are probably the most important mods, performance wise:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24063
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24470
In my case, the latter just crashes your game if you're not using the former, so try that.
Although, you SHOULD get all the iStewieAI mods for FO3, can't recommend them enough. While not as complete as the NV version (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/66347) these are still very good.
- For textures, even with the fucked up DL method I'd say these complement quite well with all the others from the kelmych guide:
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/69848
- Finally, this also has some pretty useful info for playing the game on W10:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/23631

Alternatively, just play TTW instead, however some of the FO3 mods were not ported (and might never be) so it's your decision.
