It still looks like a ghetto Iamawesome lol. Your bedroom looks a bit breezy too. Good effort though. I haven't started decorating or doing anything with the settlements yet. I look forward to it.

I thought there were larger settlements? In fact, I'm absolutely positive I remember someone saying their Castle had 25.

Don't think it is a design issue, most likely hardware or engine. Beth games seem to go to shit when there's too many NPCs. The most I've ever seen in one location is like 15 or so.

Does anyone know if Brahim do anything? I know settlers bring them randomly, and I bought one from some wandering lady but I feel like they are worthless.

I had read that brahim were going to be required to do trading routes, but I guess they never implemented that. It seems like brahim were going to be used for *something* but they got lazy and didn't actually fully develop whatever that aspect was.

IMO they should have made it so you could have a brahim follow you around like a companion and load gear on them, and they should have made them required for supply routes so you'd actually have to go out and find them.

Yep, this is what I do. I find infinite weight limits somewhat immersion breaking, but I can understand why some people like to use them.

Let's be honest - the game in its native form allows you to carry an entire department store in your back pocket. If they wanted realism, 2 weapons tops + some ammo and a few items of junk would be the limit you'd be able to carry.

And that's why I cheat with the carry limit. I mean, what does it add to the game? It forces you to spend ages doing inventory management, makes you turn back home between quests, makes you reconsider everything you're picking up because it might weigh too much and in the end, it breaks the flow of the game and THAT is way worse than the tiny bit of immersion it offers in return.

Well that explains why I sent the dog back home only to return there and find half of the town destroyed. The poor dog probably farted and shot a mini nuke out of its ass.

I have pretty much infinite weight (around 100k I believe) since I just hate limited inventory systems in huge games like this, regardless of game. much like degrading / repairing ones. I find the fact that it's limited immersion... well no, more like pace breaking and just straight up annoying and that in turn breaks the immersion I suppose. But yeah, it's a preference thing. At least in this game they sure added a lot of ways to have extra carry weight in form of perks, armour upgrades, companions, etc.

I think the reason I prefer unlimited inventories in such games is because the Gothic games were the first games of the kind that I really got into when I was like 10. And those games are extremely immersive (and they made me appreciate that aspect in all games), but the inventory was unlimited. Never felt it was an issue, it actually just reduced the annoying nature of having to constantly manage the inventory.

After you do a couple of quests for the Railroad you get clothes that are upgradeable and actually have pretty high stats. Very Happy

The weight system is there to prevent you from wearing a shit ton of high stat armor, and also carrying every weapon with no consequences. If you change that, whatever that's up to you, but you're having an easier game experience because you can carry around every weapon in the game without issue.

And personally I hate the fact that they removed ammo weight.

I keep the weight in because I enjoy have to make choices as to what I should carry rather then just going easy mode and being able to pickup every object in the game with no thought.

Ok, but why not to make some other design also to help with tons of salvaged stuff? In Daggerfall you could pack some things on horse AFAIR. You could also buy a cart and without exiting dangeon you could access that cart, even superduper mart cart to drag.
Bartering is broken - you buy rifle? 1000 caps, you sell him the same and it is worth like 100. Come on... That's why player drag everything around - becouse even bottle of nukecola is worth like 10 shotguns.

I think activating tcl (no clip mode) via the console is probably the best way to construct a settlement as of the moment. Fly up into the air and open up the workshop menu for a birds eye view of things.

LOL

I am sad, that there still is no mod out to make attacks on settlements activate via a button press.

The few attacks i got so far, where only on some settlement where i didn't really cared for. My main bases, Sanctuary and The Castle, never got attacked so far.

It also sucks, that settlers shot down by attackers just get unconscious. Only one got killed, and that was by me. As everyone just ran in melee range and shot each other.

I did some experimentation with how power works with buildings.

Having a switch on the building irrelevant, it has to do with having an active power node in about a 5 foot vicinity of the building itself, and then the entire building will have 'power' basically. So just drop a pylon next to the building and you're good to go.

That's why I said that I can't figure out why they didn't finish what they were going to do with the brahim's. Given that there is likely a lot of coding there for the brahim's already i'm hoping that a mod comes out that basically allows you to use brahim's like a companion and mule stuff around for you.

It does seem that the less defended a settlement is the more it gets attacked which makes sense I suppose but I would like an epic attack on one of my settlements. I do get attacks now and again but they are never much of a challenge. The biggest one I had was on a basically undefended settlement about 20 hours into the game. About ten super mutants showed up with at least three of them carrying missile launchers. Now that was a bastard of an assault that took me multiple tries.

Fuck this engine. Fuck it up its stupid ass.
Fuck Bethesda. Fuck THEM up their stupid ass.

So I guess I should shelve this for a while. I'm not playing sub 30, I'm just not, not now and not ever, and this is what happens in Goodneighbour. What's going to happen in the other big towns? Yeah, no thanks. I may as well hang it up until Bethesda patch it (though they won't because everyone is "doesn't happen to me") or I find some way to sell one of my kidneys on the black market and buy a new rig Laughing Oh well. 50+ hours and I had a blast up until now.

Goddamn it.

AO is on and AA is already lowest on FXAA.. I appreciate the advice, but no. I'm not playing this game looking even WORSE than it already does. Just no.

What were you expecting with a 4yo CPU? Don't tell me you bought that baloney of a 10% performance difference to a haswell Cool Face

But yeah, bugthesda and their "creation" engine Laughing
Honestly can't tell if it's due to gamebryo or to their coding "skills", wouldn't surprise me if they had fucked it up yet again. So far the worst I've seen was in lexington and just outside the corvega factory, looking at azimuth 45435345435 it dropped to 40 fps, I wonder what else awaits me and where

Laughing I don't give a rat's ass what anyone says, there's most definitely a substantial performance difference between Sandy and Haswell and it sure as shit ain't no 10% figure either.

I hadn't been to the Corvega factory yet, the worst affected places for me are Goodneighbour and Quincy - and those are tiny compared to Diamond City. Let's hope there's another "performance booster" for FO4 by the time I get back from England.

Ram speed has a surprising effect on performance in this game, so you can try overclocking your ram a bit. Getting it to 1866 might help. It won't do any miracle, but it could be what you need to avoid dropping under 30.
Otherwise, you can always try the ENBoost for Fallout 4, but right now I'm a little wary of it.
