I guess the devs wanted to make something special.
Too bad most people don't like the addition of demons, me included.

Well thy had this "weird west" unusual setting since the start (kickstarter) and it got funded fine with it . So I guess most people liked it at that time aka the peoiple who actually funded the game

It wasn't going to be very interesting with the fucking awful 2 AP system anyway. The devs should've copied a good TB game instead of Firaxshit's Shitcom.

Even looks like it controls exactly the same. Confirm, confirm, confirm, confirm, confirm. Fuck off and learn how to make use of a mouse properly.

Meh, I'm playing Wasteland 2 now (fucking loving the DC, can't believe I had this game for so long and never really put effort to it until now), and a system with free to use action points until the counter reaches 0 is a lot better than XCOMs simplified system.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

Encountered a very early bug in the plot:
 Spoiler:

Apart from that, the game is not too bad.
There are many rogue like decisions you have to made on the world map, where you can move freely.

Awesome. Stuck in some mission with only 2 characters against like 8, because one fucker just left at some event before, who i thought was a main character.
Can't win or even exit this mission now.
I love fucking shit like this in games.

The game has some clever mechanics I really enjoy. It can be summed up with Desperados meet XCOM meet Darkest Dungeon.

SO? Are you getting hard for the west, or is there no hustle behind the muscle?

I tried the codex one than bough it because I liked the game. But after an hour of playing it I noticed some nasty bugs and quit for good. This is another undebugged product and this suck.

I hope there are not that many, because of bugs I couldn't finish an ironman playthrough of XCOM.

I like this game, it's pretty good. The super natural slant makes it bit different and the story is pretty interesting to boot. I do wish it had a save option rather than auto-save though, so I've resorted to backing up the save file itself just so I can go back and try different options.

Upcoming Patch 1.1 & 1.2 Details
Quote:
We will update the list as the patch release draws nearer, same for the
next patch of the week.

A quick 1.1 patch will be released on Monday, Nov 23rd with the following fixes:
- Fixed AI behavior in evaluating flanking movement and range.
- Adjusted difficulty during the optional Mexican Town fight (As Good As Dead scenario)
- Fixed a glitch in AI movement rules which would bring it into point-blank attack range.
- Fixed credits display issue.
- Adjusting the mining/prospecting mechanic for difficulty and clarity.
- Friday restored.
- First part of UI optimizations for various '4K' resolutions.
- Minor pathfinding fix for specific tactical situations.
- Addressing the issue of characters shooting through the floor in certain cases.

We also miscalculated how self-explanatory the features would be. Our experience at shows like PAX and Gamescom now seems to have included a disproportionate number of veterans of the genre. Sorry for that! We're working on a proper manual and will have it out on Monday evening. We'll keep updating it if anything is still unclear after that.

Later next week (the week of Nov 23rd) a more substantial 1.2 patch will be released, we're in the process of gathering notes for it:
- UI optimization for Ultra HD displays.
- stability tweaks
- further difficulty adjustments based on your feedback

it's so fucking minor that it's hardly a spoiler. You'll come across the code easily enough anyway and if anything I'm saving you a minute or so. Besides in the context of the gameplay you'll thank me for telling you if you were on the same scenario yourself. gawd people..

Been playing this one for 2-3 days now, it's pretty damn fun. I don't get the aversion from some of you guys here on the forums to demons; the supernatural element is quite subdued and subtle, acting more like a backdrop to the story, which also happens to be quite good.

I like the game mechanics, although a persistent world with proper character progression would've been simply awesome.

Tip: play the game on "hard" difficulty, as "normal" is piss easy.

If you have been longing for some more Hard West action, you will be happy to hear that the wait is almost over! Hard West’s new expansion entitled Scars of Freedom will hit Steam next Thursday, on March 3rd and will retail for $2.99.

Hard West: Scars of Freedom offers a juicy new scenario with a dedicated story featuring new characters, 7 new tactical missions, a powerful new weapon, a bunch of new mechanics and ramped up challenge!

Meet Libertee, an escaped slave-turned-vigilante, and her nemesis - Doctor Gorman, a surgeon with somewhat radical views on the future of medicine. Discover their intertwining stories set against a backdrop of Civil War Texas, where classic western mixes with gothic horror.

Apart from a new story inspired by the works of Mary Shelley, the expansion also offers an equally Frankensteinesque new character development system which consists of acquiring body parts, and implanting them on your posse members. Thanks to a new trade mechanic, you will now be able to purchase your upgrades rather than get them randomly, which in turn will allow you to make strategic plans for how you want your posse to develop.

It's not all just about this new expansion though, as the main game will also be getting a major update shortly before the Expansion ships next week. This update will correct a number of outstanding issues and will add several new features and options, which will enable you to experience Hard West in new ways.

More news will be available soon. In the meantime, please be sure to check out some screenshots from the new instalment in the Hard West universe!!!
