The onus is on the claimant. You made claims that you should then backup with facts when requested Wink And, as I have said multiple times, whenever *I* "google" for something.. the facts I retrieve don't match your claims. But hey Wink Either way, I appreciate you posting the ATV episode that deals with this.. I'll watch it and see if they specifically detail theft and ship ownership.

Its a fact that the there will be no easy "stealing" in the PU. You will have to "work" for it if you want to steal a ship. If the owner is on board, he can counter the hacking too.

Big ships will not be an easy "stealing" object.... but smaller ships that costs less, will not as difficult to hack and steal.

The problem with this "open" development is, that the amout of informations are extremly high. Its very, very difficult to search for a specific interview or sentence.
You have to trust a little bit... Wink

The thing is, that most things are not 100% fixed while in development. Most of the things are plans and not done until now.

Once again, and for the last time, thank you for the ATV video and timeframe.. it mentions "game state will check if keycard is held" so, again, thank you. That at least shows me ship theft won't be as easy as "press E to enter" and stealing someone's ship though it doesn't do much to allay my concerns over what will eventually be used solely for griefing and trolling. Seeing the babyPU video of someone gaffawing as they steal ships just made me uncomfortable, though I'm happy to hear it will be harder in the full game.

About "hacking" (what is needed for stealing ships):

- You will be able to blow up another players ship via hacking, trigger its self-destruct. But you’ll ‘have to risk your own ass to do so’. The game will give preference to the defence.
- EWAR hacking will take time. You’ll have to spike the target (in a dogfight, likely), and then hack it.
- Hacking gameplay is still a Work in Progress, but it sounds like different components of ships will be able to be hacked.

As i said several times sabin1981, I dont defend the game at all. There are many, many problems the development has faced and will face in the future. If you are sceptical, i can understand this. If you are not interessted, i can understand this. I only invested 35 dollar in the game... and i will not invest more as long as the Multiplayer Universe does not go into beta or Squadron 42 will be released.
CIG has to deliver "more" of the game until i think about investing more. PTU 2.0 is the first step but right now.. the version on PTU 2.0 is not really "release-ready" at all.. its one hell of a bug Sad

For example, i dont understand why so many people invest 200, 300 oder more dollar into the game right now.. i dont understand why so many people want to have 5 or more ships right now....

The only thing i do is read summaries of the articles, interviews and videos that http://imperialnews.network/ creates from the official informations.
This way i have a good general view over the project. I can gather the information very fast. That would not be possible if i would watch every video and every interview as those can be long and filled with much, much pointless content. If i would watch every video.. lol... i would be sitting for days and days.. no thanks Very Happy

One of the problems is, that people who are only good informed and try to communicate those informations are called "fanboy" very very fast. I dont like this and think, doing this is wrong.

Its not aboult defending the game.. its about communication of the missing information. Wink

Honestly the game is looking quite good.

If they added auto generation of planets, and a poorly designed bulletin board for missions they would almost be on par with Elite Dangerous.



Does anyone know if they will have Australian servers?


If they only have US servers most of us won't be able to play properly.

Right now only US and EU Servers are confirmed.

Australian Servers.. mh... good question. Perhaps there will be a combination from australia and Japan/China/Korea?

Would be a good question for 10ftC.

i always thought, that our view of the game is not that far away. The only difference between us are two things:

- information... seems like i follow the development of the game much more regulary compared to you
- i dont tend to use sarcasm and irony - things you really really like

Oh I'm full of sarcasm and irony, no doubt about that grinhurt And, like you comment about not watching every video and reading every article is pretty much how I deal with it too, I simply can't stomach dozens of hour long gushing videos promising the universe and everything in it, or promoting the next sale - I'd rather have absolute facts, something that isn't likely to change just because they realised they overreached. My trust for the project is already at an all-time low as it is.

Well then. Thanks to Interinactive , I've had a chance to play it for a few hours.
Played on high settings in the hangar, 60 FPS @1080p with the rig in the signature.

The game and me, we had a rocky start. I'm in the hangar, trying to not throw up because my character is evidently a drunken sailor. It's as if he's a bobble head. Made it difficult to appreciate how nice everything looks.
Anyway, I climb into the ship and while there I decide to unplug my headset and the game froze Laughing But whatever.

I go through the tutorials first and everything was looking great until I turned too sharply once and everything went dark...
Who in their right mind thinks g force would be good in a game like this? If that persists in the single player, I guarantee it'll be the first thing modded out. Since when did RSI decide they're making a simulator? It just takes the fun out of dogfights Neutral

After that I went into free flight to get used to flying and explore a bit which was difficult since 2 minutes couldn't pass without someone shooting at me or ramming into me. Without private servers this game will be a nightmare.
I have zero knowledge of game development so I won't comment on whether such variable FPS during combat and flying is only temporary or it can be fixed.

Having now played it, I'm not convinced that it'll fail as a game or turn out to be the best thing since bread came sliced. The best thing to do is to wait, hell, ignore the game until RSI officially say that the game/specific part of the game is done.

Till then I'm gonna go see if I can still replay Freelancer.

Welcome to my world. I *detest* the goddamn bullshit g-force mechanic and I genuinely want to cause physical injury to the Committee of Fanatics that cheer for it. As for when they decided they were making a simulator? Um.. day 1? SC has always been a simulator, sadly, so everything is "realistic" flight model, "realistic" ungainly lurching in FPS, "realistic" blacking out when you turn your head.

Again, sadly.

Can't put my finger on, but in these trailers there's always something amateurish, floaty going on. Be it a scene, animation, shot angle... always something off.

Yes.. its not a big extremly posed trailer where every scene is done 50 times to get the best shoot.
Those trailers are really only a cut of several gameplayscenes. Thats the reason why it "look" a little bit amateurish.

I like it this way more. I think this way it is more honest then those trailers from other companies that only use the best scenes and edit them to perfect perfection.

But i have on big negativ point:
The trailer is too fast. The cuts are to hectic and fast. In some Cuts you cant really see whats happening. Thats not good....
