I smell denuvo in this one.
Looked at appinfo and "executable" depot size when unpacked is 214 MB.
Only a speculation as i don't know how many files are in the depot, but denuvo binaries are always ~100mb in size.

But look at Mad Max and MGS5. Maybe a crack after some days. But even weeks later no new crack to fix the problems thie first cracks still have.

Maybe a stupid question but: The publisher exclusively decides on the DRM protection or the devs have a word also?

Should buy it if it doesn't use Denuvo. Buying it when it has is just supporting them and will help support it being used in more and more titles..

most likely the publisher says we chose that cause we do pay for that, and if t he dev says but we want protection y which is more expensive instead of x the publisher says: ok great, but you pay the difference. and publishers have long term deals with authors of the protections

I got the game early a couple of days ago. The exe is 111mb, dont know what protection it has though.
