Whats an average temperature for an Athlon x2 4800?

My CPU is around 46C
MB is 25C
CPU fan is at 3k/rpm

Im just asking cos I know the Athlon heat a bit more than P4 and my P4 was around 35-40

Thats a decent temp, so long as it doesnt go over 60 you should be fine. Test out its heat under strain! (play a game or something!)

The cpu can go to about 65 i think so that's not a problem. Are you setting affinity on any apps? You could try that and it should reduce the temp a bit. I'm not sure what my temp is but i'd expect it to be about as high as that because my comp is SFF.

On my old computer the CPU temp reached 90-95 degrees celcius 5-6 times.. Razz

But after cleaning the fan, it never went higher than 40.. Smile

I'm pretty sure no standard cores can handle those temperatures even for a matter of milliseconds. It'd literally fry and probably melt under that heat.

Not bad I suppose, RMClock certainly helps lower temperatures without impacting performance.

Just because they have a maximum core temp, doesnt mean you should hit it Razz! The cooler the CPU the better it runs and the longer it lasts, CPU's have core cut outs when they get too hot, your machine will turn off and not turn back on until this cutout has been deactivated. Any and all CPU's should be looking at a 40c maximum idle temp and 50c MAX load temp, anything over this and you are cutting the life of your CPU everytime you use it.

well ... my temp was under idle Wink

tbh I don't think it's going to last much longer ... I've had it for a couple of years now, so when it dies I can upgrade Very Happy

45C is Not loaded but when I load it, it doesnt change alot, the max I got is 48, the computer still brand new and only cooled with air(3fan) and all my fan are on idle(not full speed, make too much noise).

Im gonna load it more and test it see how it goes...

download sp2004 http://sp2004.fre3.com/ from here install 2 copys of it set 1 copy to cpu 0 and the other to cpu 1 , and set both for small fft's stress cpu. thatll put it at 100% load and see how high the temps get
