The latter brings some much joy to me because it's a friggin blast to massacre all these CS:GO "angle camping" shitlords that come streaming to the game thinking they're the shit and then start crying "hacker" when they get hosed through walls by me.
This.
I never tested CS:GO so far (even I have it in my Steam inventory) but according to gameplay videos it looks very monotonic compared to this game. In Siege you have much more depth and you need to take many other things in consideration compared to 'jump in' start swtiching your weapons like an AHDH child and then camp your favourite angle. Both games are very different from each other but to me Siege is about something I've been waiting for very long time.
Like someone else has said Siege is like playing a chess. You set the traps, you want to force your opponent to specific direction, you want to surprise it from a weak spot etc...
Like I said test it and make your conculsions upon that. No one can explain it to you as good as you can feel it for yourself.
ps. ...and Siege seems to be full of 30+ gamers because all these CoD/CS 'eSports' kids can't stand the slow pace.

You could download the CODEX release and try it on Tunngle.
I'm tempted to do that, out of curiosity
My experience with the Alpha back then was quite dramatic; I disliked the interface, how the guns felt (almost plastic-like), the 'consolish' feel, the streamlining/no planning and so on..it's a weird sensation to read all the positive impressions now.
I wonder if Ubisoft, for the first time ever, listened to some of the complaints and improved the final product
May the wait for the $1 dollar bundle commence
Maybe because it's no one here thinks of it as an actual Rainbow Six title.. which we.. if we're honest, didn't have any since Ravenshield anyway. And don't get me wrong. The game has some huge problems. Especially on the netcode department. And yet it's still boatloads of fun if you just take it for what it is. A little team based semi-tacticool teambased MP shooter with some neat gimmicks and good old wallbanging.

Haha, I can imagine
Unfortunately I will always retain some bitterness ( *self flagellates* ) since the genre as we know it like you said died a long time ago, and what we have now is merely a superficial attempt to emulate that.
But if they have managed to nail the fun factor despite (or thanks to) the 'tacticoolness', then I guess it's already something more than what we usually have with the brainless doodies and clones. Sad when you think about it, but oh well, we can't undo the derp xD

@Escalibur: indeed, I'll give it a try to the ISO, it truly is the best way to know. I don't play any online shooters nowadays because none of them tickles me in the right way.
The last one was Red Orchestra 2, and I somewhat enjoy the Battlefields too for what they are - that's pretty much about it haha. ArmA has always been a no-go because of the lag which for me is unbearable, damned old engine!
First I tried the ISOdemo, now I bought it. (pirating is bad... )
This game really got me hooked. It has it flaws (netcode, team 'wallhack',...) but overall it's a very nice experience. When you hear the enemy moving the room above you the tension will rise, very often excellent teamwork, a lot of people are using the microphone correctly (finally), not a brainless shooter.
I hope they fix the netcode and add the option to remove the team 'wallhack'.
And please make the Terrorist Hunt mode available offline. Apart from the tutorial courses there is no singleplayer experience.
To anyone on the fence about the game, just get it as cheaper as you can get, you cant go wrong, and to those who cant, just get it ! ahah its that good.
I really hope this game will have a player base, with new maps and operators coming up , it will keep things fresh, you can tell when you are gonna get bored of a game in a few days, that happened to me with battlefront, and its not happening any time soon with siege.. im playing it like an addict..
too bad uplay is so shit with teaming up. in game overlay seems to only report when poeple come online, not when you get a game invite
but yeah, the addiction is strong in this one. I was never big on CS, but this takes the perfect angle seeking combat encounters to another level.
It's too bad it's ubisoft, so the chances of long term support are not that great. Not even sure anyone at ubisoft is even aware of what they have on their hands.
So I bought this in India. It's not bad, I quite like some of the mechanics, and I can see great potential if played in team with cooperation and communication. Playing in public, although could be much worse, is not that great. In the end I decided to refund and I'll get it again when it's 30% off or more. And after we witness how much they care about their game in terms of patching as well as if it withstand a test of time.

I go as far as saying that playing the pvp alone is a no-no. At the very least I have to play with 2 friends on teamspeak, I don't accept less than that, and even then, 2 randoms in your team can completely ruin it.
So basically, if you plan on playing the mp alone I would recommend not buying it until it's much cheaper, like you decided to do.
Been playing alone with no problems so far.. im actualy surprised, since games like l4d are completely unplayable alone.. but this one is ok, you get that odd uneven game sometimes, but its not too bad.

Same here.
i've yet to have a terribad game. it's a lot better with coordination, but even with random team mates and no talking, the game itself is designed so that you get teamplay out if it even if people aren't actively trying to.

The classes and map design make sure of that.
Exactly, im confident this game will have a place beside CS and battlefield, its on its own genre, ppl dont realised fully the potential this has, but hopefuly they will.
Also the matchmaking keeps the team your with to progress into the next match, wich is imo a good decision, since eventualy the matchmaking will end up with good teams vs good teams.
It depends on how much you want to skip on the grind. The new Operators that will get released next year are coming in groups of 2, each group costing 25000 Renown. You these Operators for free 1 week earlier than their release for everyone. You also get like 600 Rainbow Credits which are enough to buy 1 tier 4 skin for a weapon.
If I find the Season Pass at 10 euros I'll buy it, not for more. But before I want to see that the patch deployed today brings improvements to the netcode and tick rate, otherwise is pointless to invest money in a game they might not be able to fix.
It does says in the notes that they are switching to a tick rate of 60 for models. There are no details about clipping or I've missed them. But, in theory, we should see an improvement with the hit registration and the random 1 shot deaths after this patch. If there is an improvement than there is hope that they will be able to fix it sometime in the future.
