Old r6 fans are being a bit too harsh. yeah, the game might not be swat 4 or raven shield, but compared to everything else on the market, it has depth in spades.
So you're saying, that being just a bit less shitty, than everything else on the market, is something to be proud of...
Depth? Being able to use gadgets and choose the direction of attack? Yeah, it's so deep, even Leonidas would hesitate to kick that messenger in there, it's just TOO deep.
THIS is depth (and that's even without some improvements added in Raven Shield):
Quote:
You can be the major contributor to your team victory without firing a single bullet. I've spent countless matches just being a scout drone, not tagging enemies, but giving up their location to my team mates on chat.
Aww, that's cute.
In R6/Rogue Spear/Raven Shield you could leave the whole mission to the (dumb) AI and just spectate in awe the perfect execution of your plan (if, obviously, it was good enough).
Quote:
there's so many tactics and approaches, randomized objectives on maps, night and day varations of maps, rps type of classes. also various skill curves on the classes themselves. for example, the Mute class, that disables electronics. unless you know the map from drone perspective, you won't be effective. on the other hand, pick a doctor or armorer, and it's intuitive and easy to utilize their skills.
You know what? If I didn't know what game this paragraph was about, I would've just as easily assigned it to (any) Call of Duty or Battlefield 3/4.

The destruction tech itself is brilliant. you can make a tiny hole in the wall by meleeing it, or blow up 7 foot tall holes, and everything in between. That alone changes gameplay immensely. you can breach from pretty much every axis.
Cause that's how special forces rescue hostages from terrorists/kidnappers - by blowing the whole thing up.
Ok, Spetsnaz maybe...
But yeah, who needs careful planning, being aware of the surroundings, covering all possible angles of attack and all that crap, when you can have XxXxXPL0ZH10ONZZZ!!!
Oh, btw - I AM an "old r6 fan", if anyone hasn't noticed.

responding to interinactive as well just not gonna quote everyone.
Not sure why so negative. Don't try to make the game sound derp and below your intelligence level or something just cause you've played and enjoyed earlier games in the series.
ffs guys. have some faith in fellow enthusiasts instead of calling the game derp.
I've enjoyed and played the original R6.
you need all of that you mention in this game. the game is very much about angles, and planning. and tiny fail in awareness= death.
it just isn't an SP game with AI's that you command, not sure why you linked the original r6 SP video and raven shield bots
I've enjoyed both the first r6 game and this, but they are completely different games. I don't see the point of not liking one game because it's different then it's prequels.
Dunno if you played it, but not sure why you would be comparing it to call of duty. The gameplay is nowhere near the same. Counterstrike feels like call of duty after this.
This is a very slow game with a learning curve and a lot of good gameplay mechanics.
You don't have to like it, but making it sound like its a game for dorito teens is a bit too much of a hyperbole.

That's a ridiculous statement in the context of this game: you have a lot more angles to cover and possible entry scenarios to consider than in any other game. When looking at clearing a room, Siege has a lot more depth than R6, Rogue Spear or Raven Shield ever did.
The depth in the original game was on a larger scale and came from planning the whole mission - this one focuses on more specific scenarios of clearing a building, or more specifically parts of that building and it does this fairly well.
You do need an organised team to get the most out of it, and it needs people playing the game for teams like that to become more common. It will be a shame if the game just dies off, because the concept is solid.

Seeing that long post by Wabbajack, comparing the game and the gadgets to COD and Battlefield That's exactly the mistake that anybody that hasn't even tried the game (PVP, singleplayer component isn't worth it) always does.

How about they respect the old games, and called this game something different than Rainbow Six? No? Fuck off with your la-dee-daa bullshit! They're leeching and milking the old classic games for brand recognition and its pretty shitty. Of course players are going to compare the games when it is called Rainbow Six.
They could call it Spitfire Seven and nobody would care about it, but they had to name it Rainbow Six.
For your information Rainbow Six: Siege isn't in the same game series as the old classic Rainbow Six games. The old classic Rainbow Six games aren't "prequels" to Rainbow Six: Siege. All they are doing is stealing the name for this newer game that has nothing to do with the old games and how they played out. Do you see Ding anywhere? Do you see the planning phase or whatever? Fuck off, seriously.
I'm not hating on Siege, they shouldn't have named this Rainbow Six.
Ubisoft. I love them so much.
“For Rainbow Six, we wanted to make something on next-generation consoles,” Remy said. “We decided to reboot the whole franchise.”
Explained: WE KILLED THE RAINBOW SIX OF OLD, AND CAME UP WITH THIS THING INSTEAD. HERE YOU GO.
