I saw this game on a guys twitch TV last night and to be honest It looked like the worst game of 2015! Ugly textures, ugly animations etc
A far cry from what I saw via trailers
We accept all opinions, most likely you prefer graphics and most likely the streamer was using a low graphics settings (sadly we are working on making the optimization better every single dat, there was a patch out recently that fixed AMD issues a bit). Think what you want in my opinion it looks amazing, runs well on my nvidia machine and so on, but my opinions does not matter cause I am the part of the team. Anyways, nobody is making you buy the game and you are free to express your opinions the only thing I wanted to say in this post, you probably saw a streamer using lowest graphics settings.
The training mission ran at 30 frames maxed out, I only managed to get it at 60 with everything on medium at 1440p. Interestingly, it runs better in MP, so I turned a few things up and still maintained 60 for the majority of the time. If you don't have a decent level of AA, you're going to have a bad time There's a lot of scanning in the distance, and FXAA makes it look all shitty.
It's definitely more fun to play than ARMA 3 MP at the moment. That's mostly because ARMA 3 MP cannot be played outside of slideshow-mode.
The gameplay is very intense. There's no handholding, everyone chats, and you're going to die a lot if you run into fields/forests like an idiot. I noticed a lot of FF too. Including the grenade I threw that killed 2 of my team (it's hard to gauge how far it'll go without much practice. The last thing I heard over the radio before I Alt+F4d was 'It bounced!' (off the wall and back onto us) ). But crawling through fields, knowing you're being watched, formulating strategies on the fly and paying attention to what everyone's doing around you makes it really engaging.
I only did one mission, but I really liked what I saw. No big fucking console crosshairs or weapons, no shitty gamepad-friendly UI, decent video options, everything bound to my custom buttons okay. I really have no complaints
If they get the vehicles/helicopters etc correct, then I'm going to invest a lot of time into this.
I'll play a lot more tonight, but for now I'm off to try R6: Siege while it's still free!
Sounds great so far!
But yup, I'm going to wait it out see how it develops some more the next few months... since I'm quite interested as support role with vehicles. Used to play like that in WWII online battleground europe.
@Lordas
I wish you guys could disable that the game automaticly makes someone SL if no one picked the role. It causes more problems than it does good.

Here's an opinion; Sumari Bala is the worst map by far. We were going through so many missions cooperating, but then it just broke out to every man for himself in what felt like a corridor shooter. The pacing really died, as did the teamwork. That map should be 3D printed, loaded into a cannon, and shot into an aids infested vagina.
I ended up binding the map to mouse4, and squad voice to mouse5. They're easily the most used things. It's a shame a lot of people seemingly don't use them. But a lot do. It's a bit of a toss up for what kind of squad you're going to end up in :/ When you get teamwork going, it's a treat.
There aren't many other things that bother me (I could mention things like people getting stuck a fair bit, but it's EA, so I guess it'll be fixed). It's still very enjoyable. I can't wait for the vehicles
Sorry but I don't think the map is to blame. It's the fucking people. It doesn't matter if one Squad plays the game as intended but the rest does fuck all lonewolfing and shit. They still fuck you over that way and frustration ensues. Then everything falls apart and turns into a clusterfuck.
Don't be fooled when people actually stick together at the beginning of a round. It means jackshit. Their resolve only shows as soon as shit hits the fan.
Not saying that the maps are excellent though. Hell no. But most of the frustrations comes from the people and how they play the game.
But hey, I'm not surprised. The same problem persists since today in PR. It's just that Squad has a way higher propability because it's just young and so is the playerbase since Steam release now. They'll learn or just leave.

Doubtful, he's using a cross fire system on three monitors and I know the guy.. He was actually trying to get me to buy the game and it put me off + price
You also got to do something about "View Distance" and the Forest maps. It almost killed the game for me figuring out that if you set the view distance to low, half the forest vanishes in the distance but you'll still see players perfectly fine on naked terrain.
Yeah, view distance should be baked ideally. That and that the general flora rendering on ArmA stops after a certain distance kinda ruins PvP modes,i hope Squad gets it done right.
I`d sacrifice a few frames for that

Yes we are well aware of that issue and on it already, sad that it slipped trough somehow. I cant openly discuss, but from reading the optimization will have a masive jump and stuff like this will be eliminated pretty damn soon.
Totally fucking worth it, this game works for me, this is what i wanted from arma.
No more dying because of walking on top of a rock, no more of those fucking glitches.
The shooting although i dont feel bullet drop, its satisfying, the squad system works GREAT dude, first game where ive felt that being a SQUAD does something, the SL can communicate with the other leaders in a way that makes the whole battlefield feel coordinated.
I dont know how to describe, i just had so much fucking fun since yesterday. Cant wait to see vehicles and more things in it.
My only negative point would be the pixelated things in the distance and the trees popping in when zooming, its quite heavy on the GPU so i havent used must supersampling. Right now at 140% with heavy AA, i still see the images too pixelated, unlike arma where they look smooth due to the AA.
Now that the Emplacements milestone has been hit, we are concentrating all our efforts to bring Vehicles into the following version (V7) of the Alpha. Just to recap the vehicles that are production ready are as pictured below, the US Army Humvee; US Army M939 Truck, Insurgent Technical; Russian BTR-80 configured with a 14.5mm KPVT turret and finally the Ural 375D truck used by Russian and Militia forces. Our current plan involves preparing the above vehicles for upcoming major Alpha updates.

I love this game, the second you are with a good SL and mates that play as a unit it really shines. However, since it is EA and all that, there are several things that bug me a lot.
For example, height of windows/smaller walls seems off. If you stand in front of them and shoot, you hit pixels of the walls or windowframes and not your target. You have to step back a bit anyways because your hand/gun combo bugs trough everything as soon as the tip of the barrel touches solid objects, making prone LMG shooting a nightmare everywhere

I just hope there will be a vegetation overhaul because not only it looks bad it also eats up most of my frames. Gorodok and Fools road are borderline unplayable.
Dem vehicles though. Can't wait to roam around with the jihad anthem blasting from the car.

At the moment the problem is not the vegetation meshes, its the shadows that are the culprit. We are aware on the issue, some 6.1 .2 .3 hotfix all had slight improvements, but expect a bigger boost in the next major update some new techniques will be used. Personally to fix issues at the moment I would suggest deleting all the configs and cached files in %appdata% squad dir, and steam squad dir, then revalidate the game via steam. If that does not help people find this to be a good fix for the moment:

Also gfx wise the foliage textures/meshes are receiving constant updates. But remember, eyecandy comes last, there are way more important thing to do for now.
