|
 |
Found this on PSPupdates :
Source : http://www.psp3d.com/
UPDATE: We've gotten 3 confirmations from forum users that this indeed works properly as an overflow exploit just as stated by the creator. This of course does not ensure it is safe, but after 6 hours and no reports of bricking, I feel confident to take this off such a high alert status and place it into a legitimate exploit status. Kudos PSPlayer1001, I believe you might have found something useful here.
We’ve gotten about 20 emails from users claiming that a new TIF overflow has been created for PSP firmware version 2.50 by a guy named PSPlayer1001 from the "PSP3D hacking team". Basically, he claims it freezes up the PSP when run, just like the original overflow exploit for 2.00 did. A similar exploit was found in the 2.00 firmware, which was used to create the MPH 2.00 -> 1.50 downgrader.
We do not have a fv2.50 PSP here at QJ, and even if we did we’d be hesitant to try such a file without the creator stepping forward and giving us more information (email us!). We weren’t going to put this up, but we figured there would be people out there that would want to hear about it. If it’s true, then great. If not, then oh well, no loss.
UPDATES ARE LISTED BELOW (This will change when i get more info) :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How This Works
This works by overloading the psp audio with a glitch sound, and overloading the image handler with overflow.tif, thus in conjuction overriding the TIF patch.

Adn what would that mean? that in the near future it's going to be possible to downgrade your psp from version 2.5 to 1.5? or will there be otherusefull features coming with this discovery?

OBVIOUSLY what this means is that a downgrader will come, but then all developers would stop all 2.5 development and continue to work on 1.5
twit.
yes of course it means 2.5 might be opened up and homebrew could be gotten to work on it, but be patient.
anyway, re: 2.5 exploit - as always, ill believe it when i see it - a 2.5 downgrader is pretty retarded though, because the only people who have 2.5 are idiots and people who DONT WANT homebrew OR to downgrade to 1.5 (or even 2.0), so whats the point of focusing on a downgrader at all? no psp currently on-sale has 2.5 loaded on it...

Well it could be usefull to have a downgrader. Youhave firmware 1.5 and homebrew, you want to play a game that only runs under 2.5. buy the game, finishe the game, downgrade back to 1.5. so it has some use to have a downgrader. How many people upgraded to 2.0 to play gta, and then downgrade back to 1.5 to continue their homebrew apps afterwards?
And why would game developpers stop making 2.5 games once a downgrader is released? it doesn't make any sense. when the 2.0 -> 1.5 downgrader came out, the developpers didn't stop making games for the 2.0 with the result that we can't play them on 1.5 (cfr. gta, lord of the rings, socom,...)

Yah downgrading is no longer the way to go, we need homebrew on 2.0+, not another exploit to downgrade.
Good luck teams!

the point is, at the moment no games require 2.5, so a 2.5 downgrader AT THE MOMENT is redundant - there is just no NEED for one right now, it would be better to get something figured out so that we can ALL upgrade to 2.5 and run everything under that firmware.
