I tested the emulator again this afternoon with some games, with pretty great results I must say. Many of them work fine at full speed out of the box, there's even an included ini shader similar to the SweetFX to enhance the visuals/add AA.
God of War (6x native + auto-widescreen patch, full-speed)
Spoiler:
MGS3 (6x native + auto-widescreen patch, full-speed the entire time with slowdowns only during some cutscenes)
Spoiler:
Splinter Cell Double Agent (6x native + auto-widescreen patch, full-speed, there's still the flashing lighting bug involving Sam's goggles/suit which is unfixable as far as I can see. Still, better than it was some time ago!)
Spoiler:
Ico/Shadow of the Colossus (still very demanding, but playable. Auto-widescreen patch, full-speed only at ~3x native, blurring bug that can be fixed by using the Half-Pixel Offset hack)
Spoiler:
Will download other games in the future to see how they fare (not jRPGs though )
A few of the games I tried still have the same old bugs with these black vertical lines when changing the Native Resolution to anything above default in 1.4, was hoping to see that bug finally squashed but I guess it will take another 5 years or more.
Not to mention Desmume has some of the better upscaling options through it's "filters". Des over NO$ any day.
No Filters needed anymore they implemented real native upscaling some time ago in their svn's it's similar to the one in the unofficial DeSmuME X432R high resolution branch.
The option is called HD prescaling in 3d settings it scales to 5x native max so far.
I can only hope this resolution shit is rubbed in the developers face every ten minutes. You know the one that arbitrarily decided 320x200 or whatever was better than increasing the resolution and subsequently halted all development in that area for years. He's probably the clown who did most of the Desmume development but argh.

some of my subs posted this to me ... with "FUCK man check more games from your cardboard box"

Yup, it's a shame..I'm aware of that, was reading some time ago that Namco games are mostly affected, but it is a quite common problem still. Along with other nasty issues.
In fact, I tried the second batch of games before dinner, and this one was tricky!
Yakuza (6x native and full-speed, though there's a thin vertical line that sometimes pops up and an occasional problem with bloom similar to Splinter Cell DA's that sadly cannot be fixed as far as I know. Still, very playable).
Spoiler:
The Getaway (6x native, full speed most of the time with VU cycle Stealing on 1)
It's just a shame that controls are pretty damn rough and aiming with the derpad is an absolute pain in the arse , I'd love to play through it one day.
Spoiler:
Okami (6x native, full-speed). Didn't encounter anything too nasty, the only annoyance is that it's kinda blurry no matter the settings/hacks used.
Spoiler:
Devil May Cry (6x native and full-speed, but it's got a serious "shaking screen" problem, partially fixable by cycling through the deinterlacing methods with F5. There are occasional UI issues and blurring similar to Okami - and couldn't find a way to fix it. Still, definitely playable).
Spoiler:
Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance: this one was a complete mess sadly. The only way to start it is the software mode, but the framerate is laughable and texture bugs omnipresent. It's almost like a LSD simulator xD
I think at least a few of the game's ixigia reports as fine, in reality have (pre-configured to be) disabled effects compared to the PS2 versions because they cannot be emulated correctly.
For example Okami should have a paintbrush-like texture:
But it can't be emulated so it has been disabled.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
I remember being amazed by the demo on PS2 back then.
Indeed, the level design and lighting in general are pretty damn good. I'd say it's the best looking PS2 game that I've tried so far...also considering that it's from 2001.
@Guyver: I know..it's a shameful display . Believe me, I've tried, but I just can't enjoy them. There are some exceptions though, when the art-style is westernized (i.e. Anachronox) or simply 'darker' with heavy focus on combat (Souls saga, Dragon's Dogma and so on).
@Consolitis: ha, I didn't know that...too bad really, that effect looks cool! Now I finally can see why the emulated version looks so blurry.

Try Rogue Galaxy (if you haven't already). That's some gorgeous gfx for PS2 (and the gameplay to match).
Yup, most of them run at full framerate, except for the occasional slowdowns in some instances - fixable by simply lowering the resolution to 3x native and/or enabling hacks. This is with a 970 and i5-2500k (@4.3Ghz). The problems are mostly visual-related at this point, but there are still several games with troubles that I haven't tried..it's not all perfect.
The rate of progress with RPCS3 is really amazing.
Seeing complex stuff like Ni No Kuni and MGS5 going in-game with that level of fidelty is impressive, especially considering that just a couple of months ago all the emu could do was playing demos and 2d psn games.
