MGS never was purely about rewarding the player for looking through the open world, this is the first open world MGS.

If you want to compare it, go do that with GTA V, which had random events and little stories in the big world 2 years ago which the fanboy 4treyu already said was so special about Witcher 3 Laughing

the big difference being that the writing in these gta 5 missions compared to witcher 3 is like under the dome compared to game of thrones xD

I just can't understand people praising gameplay and saying its amazing compared to game story. Gameplay is as shit as the story is. It's all about doing same BORING things over and over. Heli, travel thru empty boring world, scope, tranq, fulton, tranq, fulton, heli. Oh and you can pretend it's not stealth game and go rambo, so much fun with the stupid AI.
Where are those epic boss fights from MGS 1 and 3?

The missions are dull, world is dull, opponents are dull, story is dull, characters are dull.
This game was one of my most bizarre and saddest gaming experience ever.

Can agree on the bizarre part, everything was totally weird and i was having a hard time seeing this as a complete "game" but i`m not a person with much knowledge about MGS in general

not even that, there are remaining triggers that impede the progress or something during certain missions, only solution is getting a save file that skips them Laughing

Haha yeah, I decided to stop after the 5th mission, but the workarounds with the V2 as far as I remember are:
- use the default 3DM save file to skip the prologue crash (otherwise playable till near its conclusion) -> watch it all on the Tube
- don't bring Quiet with you during missions 29 & 42
- the infamous mission 46 crash where we're all fucking then. There was actually this fix but I have no idea whether it was working or not..even if it does you still need to watch the ending on the Tube, I reckon it's better to just use someone else's savegame and skip that mission completely. Razz

With Win10 on my PC I´ve played the game with no problems and without the timezone change
On my previous setup with Win7, I´ve gone trough the prologue without crashing and completed the game (even mission 46)
All of this with the 3DM crack.
I´m currently at 70%

I agree with you.

Be careful though, some people might be disagreeing with you and it can turn this topic into mayhem.

Even mgs4 which was the worst out of all 4 is better than this game because it was still a proper mgs game,

This one feels like a Just cause game....

The beauty about the gameplay is that you don't have to fulton and tranq if you don't want to. And don't come say that if you don't do that you won't be able to fully upgrade your base, get all the gadgets, etc. If you need to be a completionist in order to enjoy a game then the problem isn't the game but you Wink

TPP gameplay greatness stands in the possibilities that the game's mechanics allow. You can approach every situation in so many different ways that makes replaying a mission a joy not a burden. Everything is fluent, the diversity is awesome and the mechanics have an actual logic behind them.
Saying that the gameplay is bad because you have to fulton stuff all the time can be taken as a general statement for almost all the games. Most of the games have a grinding to them that many might not notice. Take Far Cry for example where you have to watch the skin animation for each animal killed and skinned. The Witcher 3 looting works on the same principle.
The fultoning it's actually a choice, its base purpose is to help with some objectives, its extended purpose steps into grinding territory designed for completists. It's not something mandatory.

I can go on and on why the gameplay in TPP is so good, but this video sums it up so much better and it even misses on some great things:

Only thing that REALLY bothered me was the incoherence of the story, especially the ending (or lack of one). But the game play was spot on, for example, the "chopper deploy" on the missions was a highly immersive gimmick that i really loved.
Of course, the game felt rushed as fk, and even when i thought about buying it to support the game after the great enjoyment i had with the pirated copy, they came up with that hideous "insurance for the SP goods against MP hackers" that i wouldn't support even with a pile of feces.
I normally don't buy into the "good game ruined by publisher/ upper management" fad (cof, Bioware, cof), but in this case, im pretty sure it was the case.

I agree with all of the vid above. I've platinum'd the game on PS4

-Listening to conversations was the worse
-Collecting animals was less worse with a guide (and finding the correct spots?, how do you even know about that?!...also the ANNOYING LEOPARD TURTLEEEEEEEEEE)
-Creating items was great and looking for better soldiers was cool too
-Companions and, with the latest patch, keeping 'em forever (eeeexcept "him")
-The story could have some work, specially "TMWSTW" 's mindfuck...Bullshit

Oh well, perhaps in another MGS Mindfuck?...Will it ever end like the Resident Evil IRL movies?...

what else do you do aside from tranq and fulton?

even if you don't fulton, what are you doing? sneaking into a base and extracting a guy or grabbing intel file over and over. sneaking into a base balanced around reflex, tranq & fulton btw.

game is just straight garbage, it's the worst mgs in the series (i'm a life long mgs fan btw) and it has absolutely no fucking replay value.

And what do you have to do in a game like Far Cry other than killing everything or in a game like TW3 where you have to kill stuff or talk to NPCs. You can make every game sound like garbage if you ignore their qualities by making transforming them into absurdity.
