HDR Low / High isn't related to visual quality but brightness, low is the preferred apparently and how the game originally looked on console, high simply adds additional brightness to light sources. Smile

I like the companion system. I was expecting lifeless drones but they actually make useful comments sometimes. In one case I couldn't find flowers for a quest until one of my guys said they grow near trees, which turned out to be correct. They also call out enemy weaknesses (if they've learned them).

So High HDR is literally "High-er High Dynamic Range". Interesting.

Finally installed everything, with my poor HDD that nearly took fire after one hour of hardcore unpacking. Thankfully it's worth it Very Happy
I'm quite impressed by the quality of the port, the visuals aren't amazing of course (especially the close-ups, the low-res textures can be distracting) but the result is crisp overall and the amount of specific PC-centric options is surprising. It runs fine for me, all maxed out, although I haven't tried downsampling yet.
More importantly, it plays just fine with mouse and keyboard (with even a FOV slider..madness!), Capcom did their homework.

Can't say much about the gameplay yet, but the combat system seems fun and responsive. Considerably more forgiving and "hack'n slashy" than Dark Souls, though not herp derp, on the contrary.
The whole thing is giving me some Gothic vibes, which is always a nice sensation (with the obvious differences, the presence of companions, and more arcadey feel in general). The lack of anime-like influences is a great plus for me, unlike other Japanese franchises released recently on PC. Not bad, not bad at all. Will keep playing for sure^^ (and buy it in the future once I exit from the status of broke ass).

Btw, I think the game really benefits from some reshading+SMAA (after turning off FXAA from the options) and a bit of color/gamma adjustment:

True, I forgot! I blame the fact that I just enabled everything aggressive_mode by default without even paying attention. I shall turn it off thanks Very Happy

I just arrived at Gran Soren and changed the class of me and my main pawn.
After that a popup asked me if i want to change equipment.
Now i seem to have several new items in my inventory with that house/storage symbol. Some of the items have rather overpowered stats too i would say:

Where did those items come from? Surprised

Meh, thanks. Seems i can't destroy or sell them. Don't want to use those items. Sad

@AKofC
Changing zones takes max 3 secs from my HDD. And you only change zones when entering a city hub.

When I changed to assassin I used a set of armour I found in my storage, but after about 10 levels I had picked up or bought others that were better.

It's a bit annoying comparing stats between individual pieces and an entire set that takes up almost every slot.

It's just background noise really. This game has good combat and the flexibility of your character is great. If you go in expecting a good game, it'll be a blast. Don't expect any game changers.

I don't quite remember the story being great but I remember that combat was fun and very well done.

Ok, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

@Bob Barnsen Strange. Don't have any such weapons here. Surprised

Liking it so far. Although the Mage combat is quite bad. It's slow and once enemies get closer, I pretty much end up dead. Sad

How do you lock on target?

Using the same old Reshade. Smile

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Started playing last night and I automatically got hooked again and this time the whole experience is superior. Combat is so good, companions (pawns) are useful. The quests ofc are mostly the "Oblivion/Skyrim type" but exploration is fun. Gothic vibes all over again.
Tip: Do not play as a mage. Most fun is the Fighter and Strider classes. Combine them in your playthrough and you'll have a blast.

Took about 15 min to unpack on 3570K@4.5Ghz. Alot faster than downloading 19GB with 30Mbit. Very Happy
