The post sounds cool in theory. But who knows what is true or not with news regarding Half Life 3.
A good event to release the game would probably be together with the Vive. The sales for the devices would explode.

edit more accurately the message the mod received was fake but the mod didn't know that and truly believed Valve ordered reddit to delete all instances of the leak they can find so he was stressing over deleting all posts he could find

It would be a bad move from valve and I don't think it would work (depending on the price of the vive)
And I don't want to play HL3 on VR, just on oldschool pc
At least, they could make it steamos exclusive first, to boost steam machines (like gta 5 was for old gen consoles, before releasing it on nextgen and pc)
Anyway, we need to wait again but I do think Mark Laidlaw quit because his work at valve (HL3 writing) was done.

Because if it's not canon, they are so many HL2/ep2 mods you can find so its mere existence is nothing special. Now if it's actually super good, cool; but that remains to be seen.

It has been explained by Laidlaw (who just left the company) that that is not the case.
As for "they don't have to make games part", you don't see Gabe firing the game development teams so that is bull as well. Unless he enjoys paying 100+ people to come to work and tell jokes or something.. but I think he wouldn't be a BILLIONaire if he was *this* incompetent with money.

Working on many games, yes. BioShock Infinite had a development team of 200 people for 4 years. Valve are 330 people and probably half of them are on Steam / VR / OS / HW.
Now divide the remain 100+ that are game developers to teams on L4D3, HL3, Dota 2, CS:GO and a lesser extent to TF2, L4D2, etc.
In a couple of months it will be 2 years since Minh Le saw the L4D3 beta and said "it looks great." http://www.gamespot.com/articles/left-4-dead-3-in-development-and-looks-great-counter-strike-co-creator-says/1100-6419832/
And the game hasn't even been announced yet..

Because he has chosen to run Valve with no project managers he can't go on a hiring spree. If someone slacks he may be discovered no sooner than months or years down the line. That is by hiring one person. Hiring 50 people? He's not doing that.

This is like saying "I sort of believe one day within the next 5 years an AI as smart as the human brain will be created." That's impossible because it's not something that can be figured out in a night.. or a 100.
No one knows how to make a AAA VR title say.. on the scale of a Batman Arkham game or whatever. Not Valve, not Sony. It will take years upon years of experiments. (Obviously not as many as creating a real AI  )

The goal of VR is not "I move my head and the camera moves" Bob.
When you properly incorporate all your shooting, moving, looking, UI, inventories, controls, sound, blablabla in it then we can talk about AAA games. Until then you'll get walking simulators.
