Some dynamic event shit would be nice from time to time, even if it was as simple as roads closing/road works etc. They also really need to work on the economics, there's a lot of potential as a trading game but they don't bank on it at all. Lastly I hope we get some actual modding systems so people can script all the missing shit.

I really miss that in ETS. I remember a 18 WoS that had those (snow, accident, traffic, work).. it actually changed the way you play.

On ETS it's always the same thing

This was 18Wos Convoy (2005 game)

And I can assure you Europe has way more variety regarding landscapes than Arizona alone.

So this is why I thought you were joking Wink

That's not fair, Convoy looked outdated even back then. Anyway, the overexeggarated bloom/HDR and the weird skybox make the game look hideous.

ETS2 had shitty copypasted cities with surreal layouts and you couldn't even tell whether you're driving in France or Slovakia. Only the Scandinavia DLC brought some improvemeng in that regard.

I honestly cannot tell if you guys are serious with this shit or not. Is this like the Brony movement, a really bad joke that never seems to die? Or like when there was 90 pages of people getting really excited about that gay porn game? Is that what is happening here?

Literally every single simulator game I've ever seen has been a huge steaming heap. Endless bugs, almost no physics, horrid controls, driving through buildings, no collision, things skipping all over the place, etc, etc...

Well played all, for 4 pages of me reading comments, I legitimately feel like you guys are excited for this. And that is terrifying.

Like, can't you just fire up a GTA game (4/5?) and steal a truck and immediately be playing a better game?

Please someone halp.

Same here.
I have no clue why people keep playing crap simulation games like those truck games. Probably even wasting hundres of hours on that.
How about you get a real job as a truck driver instead, if you like that so much? Laughing
That way you would even get money. And it's not like truck drivers need any real education.

Well I mean, I like the IDEA of these games, but I've never witnessed one to even come close to what someone would consider even a basic functional game. Like, they never even WORK at ALL.

And I can understand when people are just able to enjoy something even if it's awful (guilty Dynasty Warriors fan here, literally buy them all). But man, the simulator games like, never even work at all I feel like. The bus one? You can like drive through anything, the animations are awful, and it's a bug shit fest. That's all I've ever seen the simulator games be, and this thread... just has me so confused.. they seem EXCITED. FOR REAL. Are You Serious

There is something oddly relaxing and comforting about driving a truck around Europe, ensuring it's on time, not damaging the trailer etc etc.

The various mods and improvements to ETS2 for example, have really improved the AI and suchlike.

This isn't an action game, nor is it a game with an ending. IT's pretty much like Flight Simulator, with trailers.

And ETS 2 is by far the best of the bunch out there.

Euro Truck 2 has overwhelmingly positive feedback. Its just something different than what I guess people normally play, and you have to approach it accordingly. Sometimes that a game is simple works to its advantage. You have a basic goal. You can customize your truck. Go drive. The online thing is messed up, but I honestly got a few good hours out of this truck game having never played anything like it before. Was just weirdly addictive. There's a tiny leveling up system too, awarding you xp for miles driven and for completing missions, allowing you to get even more rewarding missions and different types of cargo. As you level up, you'll get access to different trucks and accessories...

Harmless compared to shooting dudes in the face. Not something I'd throw 100s of hours into, but was fun, and no I don't think people like it just to mess with people.

If it had Unreal 4 graphics, more trucks and places to go with more detailed areas and proper co-op, it'd work out pretty well for me.

I mean, I'd love to play Transport Tycoon in first-person. Driving trucks, planes, boats and wtf else in competition with other players.

No Reaction ; have you even played ets2? Reaction
the game has tons of mods that make it better than the vanilla version which was already good. Like someone said above, its very relaxing to just drive a truck trough some nice landscaping while listening to your favorite radio.

You like shooting? just play CS and youve played all the shooters by your logic

Most sims are shitty because they aren't exactly riding the main stream... to put it mildly. Tiny budgets, skeleton crews etc.

Hm... was I using logic? I think I employed the "blanket stereotyping because I don't understand" technique.

Isn't it relaxing to drive properly through GTA5 as well then? Turn the radio on, obey all traffic laws. Even the police will chase you if you don't.

Actually OMSI is a very good bus simulator.
Is the Bus Simulator project on hold? I'd prefer it over the ATS as it is a more complex project. They need to implement some kind of dynamic economy in these games.

I played a lot of sims... just to try out and yes 90% of them do suck ass. When I tried ETS I expected the same kind of game... but it's not. Quality is way better.

What is so fun about it... driving... roaming/exploring around. There's tons of mods to customize it. Has good driving physics. Best thing to do is give one of those garbage German sims a try and then this one to see it's a whole other genre.
