I play with a controller, on a couch, like a noob. I do that with shooters optimized for couchplay, with a mouse it is braindead easy.

yeah, on highest difficulty you can survive a grenade explosion under your feet. enemy reaction times are worse than a drunken sailor.
But I agree with your mini review, big improvement over the first game. they finally realized force cover shooter sections are the weakest part and lowered their occurence drastically.
the majority of combat encounters now play out like something out of crysis 2/3. you decide how and where to engage.
and the game keeps getting better. wait till you see the scenery and set pieces later on.

About Endurance Mode performance problems:
Nixxes_Official wrote: |
Hello,
We are aware that some users experience stuttering when playing the Endurance mode. This is being resolved, so please keep an eye out for the first patch release in the near future. Steam will automatically update your game for you if you are online, and we will post a pinned 'patch release notes' post at the top of the general discussions hub.

Played couple hours, love it. I find it strange that people is talking about all sorts of performance problems but arent talking about the game graphics?, considering how fucking good the game looks its understandable, i mean jesus, absolutely insane graphics at times (personally i havent seen anything like this before, way to start 2016 gaming). Runs maxed out @ 3440x1440 + SMAA in soviet base 45ish fps (otherwise it has been like 50-60fps all times), im satisfied since the game looks so good. Anyway seems to insane resource hog, can use 6GB VRAM (no stuttering tho or frame drops).
One thing tho bothers me, game feels even more easier than the previous one?
Again, dat graphics.

The cutscenes and Lara's character model looks great but the actual in-game graphics aren't impressing me that much, slap some downsampling on it though and things improve considerably though VRAM usage exceeds 6 GB as well leading to some pretty annoying stuttering as data is loaded and unloaded as it has to swap to RAM.
(Your 21:9 "ultra-wide" 3440x1440 likely helps a lot too, if only that aspect ratio was more commonly supported I would have gotten something like that long ago.)

@Breezer_
What's so insane about it? Just lots of nice effects that hide how the game really looks. Remove them and you'll see it's not much better than TR2013.
Literally maxed out or very high preset?

That's on a single 980ti? All maxed out? 4K?

i don't think resolution has anything to do with games needing AA, it's all about pixel density. that's why 4k res on a smaller screen looks better than on an actual 4k screen.
that's just me though.

Who would have thought if you remove the 2016 effects from a 2016 game it will look closer to the 2013 original!
