Scared that something is going to go wrong with the payment and my order will get cancelled. or that my CC I used when I placed the order will get lost and I have to get a new CC and I will have to cancel that card for security reasons.

This!, im worried this might happen to me being a dominican card and all. I just hope they contact me and let me pay with paypal in case the CC fails Embarassed

But why ?
This can run VR games, whereas a gaming PC with less than a 970GTX can't !

So what games is a MUST to have once O.R is released? (Apart from the ones we get with it).

Im trying to prepare myself so ive got loads to play once its out.

So far ive got this list ready

7 Days to die, Among The sleep, Assetto Corsa, BlazeRush, Elite Dangerous/Elite Dangerous: Horizons, Euro Truck Simulator 2, The Forest, Hawken, Interstellar Marines, Lunar Flight, Mind: Path to Thalamus, Mountain (lol), Project Cars, Q.U.B.E, Race The Sun, Radial-G, Stranded Deep, Strike Suit Zero, Subnautica and Take On Mars.

Some good and some...not so good. I know all of these arent VR ready yet - but they are supposedly ment to get it soon. (and yeah....Interstellar Marines..not sure if I wanna install that PoS).

So what else should I get?

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Also keep an eye on this one :

Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe VR : http://store.steampowered.com/app/259510
Lot of fun and good memories (shufflepuck cafe)
(hopefully the dev will update it once OR is released, as for now it doesn't work anymore)

NASA wants to take you to Mars, without leaving Earth

We're on the verge of seeing numerous virtual reality headset hit the market. These headsets will attempt to better immerse a person into the world that we've only peered at through the window of a television set. The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive VR headsets are due out soon, and NASA is building a new playable mission meant for these consumer headsets.

NASA, working with MIT student Sydney Do and the Florida-based media group Fusion, is readying a Mars virtual reality experience that could extend a walk on Mars into your own living room. Do's paper on the Mars One mission conditions and feasibility study caught NASA's eye and inspired the entire project. Do's paper is also being used to help create a realistic version of what it might be like for an astronaut to walk about on Mars.

Game developers are being employed to help flesh out the experience to the end user. It is said that there will be some kind of playable mission, which should include the use of a rover on the surface of Mars. This won't be some artistic interpretation of what it will be like to be on Mars, though. Everything is meant to be an accurate representation of the big red planet. If it all comes together as expected, the Mars VR experience from NASA will be available before the end of 2016.

Pretty cool, sure.

But i highly doubt anyone doing serious content creation is doing that in VR.
Not only is it probably more cumbersome than the "classic" variant, but it will make you even more tired.

Reality check: what SteamVR gaming actually offers
Hands-on with 12 VR titles - and what to expect from the launch.
Quote:
Last week, Digital Foundry attended Valve's SteamVR showcase in Seattle - the chance to get to grips with the new, almost final HTC Vive virtual reality hardware, plus the opportunity to play 12 different VR games, all of which will be available when the Vive releases in a couple of months' time.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-reality-check-what-steamvr-actually-offers

Frap Frap Guy

The games might not be so awesome in the graphics department, but damn most of them seem to be soo fun! Just like back in the days, when devs tried to make games with fun gameplay, instead of mostly sexy graphics like today.

Really interested in the Vive. With Steam behind it, i expect it to get a bigger push and more popularity than the Rift.

Haha, yeah, do that for an hour, it's like a complete workout... when i was deeply into modding i could easily sit for 10h, good luck waving your arms around for 10h.. It's a start though, in the future i wouldnt mind sculpting 3D objects with my hands, that would be quicker than using a mouse, and more fun.

once touch comes out you should be able to play steamvr games on both
oculus games however have a proprietary sdk (assholes) so they can only be played with oculus hardware

Most of those "most" games are specifically VR games, which will have the 970 and 290 as a target, so sure - those will run fine. It's not the same as saying you can run most games out there in "VR mode" on a 970.

I imagine that by the time we get to the point where some AAA titles will get proper VR support (if we will ever get there), 970 will be outdated and pretty far at the low end.

It looks very cool indeed. I may invest in VR coming summer once both the vive and the rift get proper reviews. My DK2 is catching dust though, especially for lack of proper input.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Its expensive yeah, but it would not suprise me at all if thats just abit more than it cost to manufacture. In time, the price will go down Smile

Still ordered O.R though Razz

But I was hoping the price would be 1/3 less than it is - not sure if I can afford Vive now (atleast until next year).

It's not really the price that annoys me (well, ok a bit!), it's the misleading up until just before the price was announced. If I knew it was to be silly money, I would never have got so worked up about it.
