Ouch, no way to refund?

I don't think so.

Basically, I have only myself to blame. I decided to pre-order based on various previews and being curious. I could have just spent a few minutes finding a closed beta key, but I guess I'm too stupid.

I knew I would be taking a chance, but I honestly didn't expect THIS level of crap.

Well tbh, I'm quite cynical of MMO's these days and I did not expect this level of shittyness either. So it is understandable.

That being said, take it as a lesson for the future, don't go for the guaranteed beta spots/early access packages. They have burned many people so far. I hate the practice since a lot of people can't experience the game before buying... it's sad that they know they can get away with it now.

You're 100% right.

I really should know better by now.

That said, this one hurt a bit - so maybe it'll actually help me being less impulsive in the future.

I'm also very, very jaded with the genre - and I struggle to understand what went through my head when I bought this. It's not like I'm wading in cash - I just made a bad decision.

Well i kinda bought the 30€ preorder package on impulse myself back when the preorders started i just saw some videos and shit back then and really didn't know much about the game.
Im kinda glad i didn't buy one of the more expensive packages so it's not that bad but i should have known better.
At least the forums seems entertaining so far and the lvl of mismanagement of this company is astounding i mean you guys saw the intro, the cash shop is even better one costume costs more then the game itself Laughing

They give refunds btw, checked up on it but... wait for it... You can't get a refund if you participated in the beta Laughing

Shady shits. You actually get punished for pre-ordering. Seeing most other people could snag a key quite easily for the beta so they had the better deal. Razz

Also something I didn't touch on earlier: it's really unoptimized. It's funny to see the defence of people: it looks really pretty! Well... it runs a whole lot worse than better looking games even when I account for the Massive Multiplayer part. You can get it running fairly well after some tweaking... but it uses up way too much power for how it looks.

Anywho, uninstalled. Not going to waste more time on it. 3/4 hours was more than enough (well half an hour already was).

Is that for the western release, which we would play?
If yes:

Was waiting till the game got its full release beginning of next month. Can't care less anymore with those kind of devs behind it.

Most MMORPGs are rather fun at release. Mostly because the game and it's feature are new for you and the other players. And it's fun to explore the game together with other newbies.

Nothing new here Confused Same shit that was in the Korean cashshop, the Japanese and the Russian, but everybody is acting like its something recently added. If ppl paid fucking attention to the other region´s shop and read the BDO reddit abit they would have known what would come. Now everyone is acting like a dramaqueen.

It's not about being new... stop finding excuses. It's the payment model and what kind of cash shops go with that. The other regions have a different payment model so is it that out of this world to expect a cash shop that reflects the payment model? Especially when they themselves were saying: cosmetic items only?

But hey... keep defending practices like these and throwing out words like drama queen when there is any form of criticism. It will surely bring you benefits! Rolling Eyes Razz

Tastes differ and all that.

Personally, I was disgusted with everything from the UI and art direction to the horrendous pop-ins and gender-locked classes. Worst of all was probably the quest/story delivery. I'm not a violent person, but I really do think I would be driven to excessive violence if I was forced into a room with the person voicing the "black spirit" quest guide. The fact that the voices don't match the actual quest text and that nothing made any kind of sense didn't help matters. It was among the worst translation hack-jobs I've ever seen.

Keep in mind that I'm the sort of player who appreciates an actual story and having what I consider actual reasons for doing what I'm doing in a game. That means I kinda need to engage with NPCs on some level and feel like I'm helping someone that I care about.

I can't do the treadmill symbol-clicking all day long just because. Not anymore, anyway.

That's not to say it's all bad. It's just that certain things are so bad that I can't ever get to the good parts, assuming they're there.

The bitterness in this thread is fantastic. I think it's the best mmorpg game I've played. So much more to do, than just slay monsters. At least that's how it appears, might chance my mind after a month or so. One thing does piss me off though, and might even prevent me from buying the game - the pve is incredibly easy, I've barely been scratched by the npc mobs yet.

The best MMORPG you've ever played which you might not even buy because it's incredibly easy?

That makes a ton of sense to me Wink

See, you shouldn't have typed this. Since it says more about you than it does about people criticizing a game.

I don't have a problem with people having fun or enjoying a game. Hell my advice to Deadpoetic would be: Just keep having fun and don't search for problems you don't have.

Same for you, if you enjoy it: keep on playing. Though I must warn you that the difficulty of the PVE stays the same all the way to lvl 50+. Seen enough of the beta videos and heard people complain about that (used to be different but they changed that after a few beta's in the Asian version). It's mostly a game that focuses on PvP anyway.

Anywho... Tastes and standards differ. I grew up in an entire different MMO era than what it is now. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't be able to imagine people finding this a good game. Though it would be nice if people gave the same respect to people criticizing as they do to people praising a game.

It's absolutely disgusting what has happened to gaming, especially to MMORPG genre. Back in 2012 when I bought GW2, the first warning sign I noticed during leveling was the fact that all NPC shops sold the same beginner armors and there were almost no coin drops. So there was no money to be had in PvE and nothing to buy, UNLESS you go and use the Cash Shop so you can spend even more real life money to buy what you actually want.

And it's getting only worse. Blade & Soul's NPC shops are literally empty, everything you'd like to get (inventory or char slots, new looks) is in Cash Shop. Yes, you can run around and play the game "for free", but for what? It's just a stupid grind until you almost have to put some money in to enjoy the game and even then you feel like cheating and robbed.

I remember playing Lineage 2 a long, long time ago before the Shops were a thing (private server of course) when everything was available from the start - you just had to play as long it was needed to get materials for your armors or weapons, so the crafting system actually was kind of rewarding and satisfying. Now it's totally ridiculous.

Blade & Soul, ArcheAge, Aion, Black Desert - I see all those game as a giant waste of time and money now. No balance, no focus, no originality. Just give us more, more green paper! Gimme gimme, you must, slave! More!!!

What exactly does it say about me? That i find the criticism a bit strange? If so that's correct. People can criticize all they want, but at least do it the right way. When you start writing " I did not expect this level of shittyness" or "Blade & Soul, ArcheAge, Aion, Black Desert - I see all those game as a giant waste of time and money now. No balance, no focus, no originality" or "Game is beyond terrible", its not a fair critique. It makes it really hard to take serious. I also grew up in a different era (Vanilla WoW), but this game is (as it should be) ages ahead of that.
That said, its not that i like the cash shops, the way they made it. Especially not in a b2p game, but it woulden't hurt to recognize the great things about the game, while you do criticize.

according to yt vids the game is bland class system is restrictive and there is not enough endgame or normal content plus it s grindy.

So the only shiny things about the game are maybe the graphics or it s character creator.
