So basically the enemies are the same from level 1 through 27. Same ai, weaponry and method to kill. I dont see this game lasting long after doing the same encounters and killing the same enemies in the dungeons dozens of times.
Well, in the beta we saw only two enemy factions and in the DZ there were an enemy not seen in the SP missions.
However compared to other MMOs The Division suffers for being somewhat more realistic: no aliens, no magic...
There's a lot of variety with human only opponents as well, I don't know what factions or types of enemies this game uses but there's a lot you can do with a variety of weapon and armor categories and some different AI routines.
Various types of melee units, grenadiers, support units, ballistic shields and heavy body armor, even suicide bombers plus there's a variety of heavy weapons possible too from rocket launchers, various flame throwing devices and HMG's without going totally sci-fi with some dude in power armor using a portable minigun.
Lots of factions possible too from simple thugs, looters and bandits to ex army, cops and rescue groups.
(Sects, druggies and various other fanatics works too.)
Might not be as diverse as mythical creatures or aliens can be made to be but there's a lot of variety possible with just humans in a semi-realistic setting.
(And then there's potential for various vehicles and stuff like drones as well, attack dogs too maybe.)
Watch Twitch streamers play and see if you like the game. I think for example LIRIK will be streaming 24 hours straight with a few other streamers. There's no rush in buying on release day if you're not interested in minor pre-order bonuses and that kind of shit.
The two biggest concerns I've gathered is a) cheating/hackers and b) will there be enough content.
It depends on how much time you have to spend and how much time a video game needs to last before you move on to the next game. Some players play games 1000s of hours, some play games 5 hours and feel like they're done, so it varies a lot. I think it should have enough for casual gamers at least, maybe not for power gamers.
Who else will stream 24 hours of the Division? I'm happy to discover new people to watch. I think LIRIK is among the better ones, I also enjoy Summit for CS streams.
What's the issue with LIRIK and Summit? They've seemed pretty cool whenever I've watched them. LIRIK possibly has a streak of arrogance about him, Summit seems polite and they're both good gamers in my opinion. I might just have watched a ton worse than them to think they're bad streamers, not everyone can do well on live streams. When you have 40k people watching you its tougher to stay humble and interact.
I'm watching ChristopherOdd on youtube play XCOM2 on Legend ironman now. I'll check out the two streamers you referred btw.
I was giving advice to people on the fence about the game. Also, if you don't want to fork out the money, watching someone else play the story of a game works just fine.
