Curious about this.

I would also be curious if some US member here might be willing to help me out in the Spring aswell, maybe.
I will order some car parts from the US and shipping, taxes etc add up quite a bit, especially on heavier items.
The parts I need would cost me about ~1200€ here in Finland but if I can get them via a middleman in the US, I reckon I can save a few hundred atleast.

So my thought was I order the items to someone here and they send them to me as a gift then = no taxes, nothing. Just the shipping cost to pay.

Save me a fortunate and maybe a few bucks for the nice guy who helped me out aswell?

I've done it for a few members on here. One guy was some IT technician and had a hard on for military grade flashlights lol! Got to keep one, 8 years later I still have it sitting next to me, fucker doesn't die.

Anywho, I'll need a better idea of what you're ordering. Weight is always the main factor here. If you're ordering a headlight, that's one thing, if your'e ordering headers or an intake, well that goes up a bit.

If it's small enough, you'll absolutely want to stick with USPS. They handle it up till it leaves the country, once it hits the next country, your own postal service will handle it. This is why UPS and FedEx are so damn expensive, they handle it personally all the way through delivery.

It isn't exactly going to be a small package, but I can also get the heavier stuff later or from Finland, it's the small stuff that are WAY cheaper in the States than in here.

The heaviest stuff include a torque converter, shifter, shocks, flexplate.
And even there, the only massive and heavy part is the torque converter really. But they are not that much cheaper in US than they are here.

Rest are like carb repair kit, tuning kit, new floats, some brake hoses, linelock, engine mounts, trans mount, trans cooler and small stuff like that which fit in a small~ish box even together.

Some sellers do it all the time, especially the china ones heh. Too bad no car vendors send parts as "gift".

I really don't see the issue with it if you ask me.

Ohh, if the sender from the US labels it as a 'gift' then you don't have to pay taxes/VAT for it. Very Happy

Yup, pretty much.

We are supposed to pay taxes for everything from China aswell but pretty much all sellers in China label the box as "gift" and put something like "Value: 5$" on them. No taxes/VAT to pay.
Ordered so much crap from China already cause of cheap.

Just to give an example of "expensive" in Finland. Spark plugs cost less than 1$ at RockAuto, in Finland we pay 6€+ for one plug.
I have ordered all the small stuff from RockAuto for a while but looking to minimize all the costs here.

And I need stuff from SummitRacing now, shipping from them is EXPENSIVE to say atleast.

Stop wasting money on fancy names that isn't needed? Very Happy
Or honestly I don't know but a few years back those fancy plugs were just a marketing trick and weren't any better than the cheapest ones.

Benefits of running something old though, you can buy those less than 1$ spark plugs from rockauto

And hey, you only need one plug! I need 8 lol, 8*7 (local store 7€ here) and it adds up lol

Keep in mind that even if someone would send you those parts that weights like 100KG as gift, im pretty sure Finnish customs are interested about this gift and will check what the hell is in there and you are going to have to pay taxes.

Hence why I said I will propably buy the torque converter from Finland cause it weighs a ton, thus adding insane shipping costs and they cost like ~50€ more in here than they do in States.

Rest of them don't weight that much.

EDIT: Nvm, this is like 200€ less: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/bmm-50441/overview/

I shall look things up, start with the smaller stuff first then see about the torque converter etc later, it's not a necessity yet anyway.

 Spoiler:

That should be about it, nothing too heavy in there, see how things work out first, shifter and the shift kit are propably the heaviest parts there, rest of them weigh next to nothing.

Prolly add some spark plugs and small crap from RockAuto to the same box, that order alone would cost about 220$ on top of that to get it to me, I reckon I can maybe save a few bucks there.

Will probably sell my winter ride next month to get this shit rolling so I can get the parts before the snow melts Smile

EDIT: After checking rockauto, I guess I would be left with buying the flexplate, new starter and torque converter from local shops considering they all weight quite a bit.
