I see.

Code:
the devs specifically search for ALI213.ini\3DM.ini\SKIDROW.ini\etc along with many more files names.. to activate triggers

So I guess the game is uncrackable then. Sad

Pretty scummy of the devs to keep the triggers in the game when they said they would remove them on release.

I know GOG version is coming in March and they'll be forced to remove them, but still..

Around March 4th for the DRM free release, officially they want to merge any hotfixes (Such as the one from earlier today.) together and provide a full release that doesn't need any additional patches immediately afterwards although the first week or so is critical in terms of sales so a delay of the DRM free edition is understandable though it might not affect sales too much for this game as it can already be downloaded just that it won't work correctly and as was to be expected there's a lot of posts on the official forum and it's Steam hub about these "bugs" and how the game is broken.

So, do those who buy it now also get the DRM free version when it is released? Or will the DRM free be the only version? Because I don't want to buy it now unless I get the DRM free version later. Sorry if this has been answered already. I suspect of course there will eventually only be one version.

It requires you to be logged into your Steam account to play the game.

I don't know the specifics but... seems like a nice way to compromise your legit account?

Yeah, but I'm certain Steam tracks your games even in offline mode (to sync playtimes & achievements), so your Steam will probably have some residual data from Grim Dawn despite, I assume, you not having Grim Dawn purchased.

If you have a link with more info on that, that'd be great.

As far as I understand you have to buy from that site I linked, that's the only way to get a drm free version.

Just make a new account just for playing Grim Dawn if you're worried.

There's 10.5 million people online on Steam right now. I doubt they'll find you playing Grim Dawn if they can actually see it.

Yeah, a shadow account should do the job fine without risking to compromise the legit one. I've done the same thing with many titles in the past, including Rocket League (until the devs noticed the huge influx of shady accounts and blocked the online access). This one however is single-player-focused so there shouldn't be any problem when it comes to that sort of stuff. Razz

This game is sooooo fucking good So Much Win So Much Win So Much Win

Reached level 17 and so much shit happens at the same time during skirmishes
Encounters are very fluid and very dynamic. And they give you that I-am-pwning-stuff feeling

Best part about this game, is that there are NO cookie cutter builds.

You can make soooo many really badass custom builds just from the gear alone.

Blows D3 out of the water (not saying much) in regards to builds.

Basically every game in the genre blows Diablo 3 out of the water.

PoE and Grim Dawn are definitely at the top of the genre right now, though. Great games with lots of build variety.

Can I expect anything from the gameworld and story, or is it a 'simple' hack and slash. How is it compared to Van Helsing 1 for example?
I might buy it since it's pretty cheap.

It has a really great atmosphere and the sound design is top notch. Can't comment much on the story but the setup is ok. The world building through random characters and the environment is good though which is a big plus.
It's a pretty safe bet if your a fan of the genre.

Story is rather uninteresting, which is a shame, because I like the world a lot (reminds me of Warhammer, or Ravenloft, with some Cthulhu myhos sprinkled on top), and they actually went some lenghts to offer branching dialogue etc. I wish they made more use of it.

But I agree, the game is pretty awesome anyway. Combat feels nice and I'm having a lot of fun blasting things around. I kinda wish I started on veteran, however, because sadly, it's already piss easy.
