Hi movie buffs.

I need to scare the crap out of my girlfriend with a few really awesome horror movies.
She doesnt scare easy but I know there are a few damn good scary movies out there.

The Thing with Kurt Russel was awesome.
We have watched Insidious 1 and 2 but it was kinda lame.

But I need some really scary horror films.
Anyone have any ideas or have seen a movie that is really scary ?

Thanks.

Precious.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Antichrist had a pretty scary effect on me.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Shutter (2004)

You might like that..that's the Asian (Thai?) original, I think there's an American remake as well.

Asian horror movies creep me the fuck out in general, not sure if you like Foreign films or if it would have the same effect Laughing

So you can't go wrong with..

Tbh its hard to pinpoint a movie as the scariest since its ttetty much depending on what a individual finds scary. Undead/ghost/clownd/strangers/rabbits etc etc

I'm personally not a fan of boo!-based horror movies, but I found REC pretty decent as far as classic horrors go. I would also consider Pandorum, The Descent, Martyrs (for the shock value), Audition, Jakob's ladder, Rosemary's Baby or The Mothman Prophecies for something more focused on disturbing traits rather than pure horror.
Event Horizon also creeped me out when I was a teen, but I need to rewatch it one of these days to check the different perspective Very Happy

Then there are movies like A Serbian Film, Cannibal Holocaust and Irreversible, but they're probably...not very girlfriend-friendly since they're more on the disgusting side Laughing Shifty Fellar

And the scariest of all..Jesus Camp!

Yep, definitely the scariest horror I've ever watched, highly recommended. (The original, not the remake of course)

I always found The Shining one of the most effective horror movies, despite it not being graphic. Tension, atmosphere, secluded location and this:

Other horror movies that are quite similar in terms of tension and claustrophobia (although with obvious differences Razz ) are Alien and The Thing.

Also if you loved The Thing, the 2011 version was pretty damn good, very well made and detailed prequel to the original. Only a bit less of a horror.

^ I've seen people consider Don't Look Now & Hour of the Wolf horrors, it's all about taste. I don't get scared at movies, same goes for games. Although, I can appreciate a creepy atmosphere, which usually is present in Dario Argento movies/most movies I've recommended. Smile

You could watch Blair Witch with her, a quite simplistic classic.
It might not be "the scariest", but you could play with her fears along the way, and give her some good scares on your own Smile

I have seen pretty much all the scary films in existence, but this one has a particular scene that for me personally is the single creepiest one of all time, i get goosebumps just thinking about it.

i don't know if Serbian film or others Ixigia mentioned deserve to go in the scary/suspense bucket. They are more repugnant shock factor that leaves the viewer feeling awful, i just think it should be mentioned in case any uninformed users come through this thread randomly downloading stuff.. Huge difference between The Ring, Hellraiser and then A Serbian Film Laughing

Some lesser known's I like, to add to the list:

Insidious (particularly the original, James Wan Dir)
Dread (2009)
Catacombs (2007)
Creep (2004)
Midnight Meat Train (2008)
Grave Encounters (B grade but cool ending)

Phantasm Series (my fave horror series, similar to evil dead)

You're right Ampeg haha, those were more meant as a joke, since they definitely belong to the virtual list of the 'worst movies to watch with a girlfriend' ever, regardless of the genre Very Happy
