still with starting ship - really does seem to be a damn good ship... but ive got almost 5k, so i might buy the 5k one that'll give me a second weapon point, then get some better weapons for it, then start picking some bigger fights already have a house.
and yeah im still doin mah thing with the blind guy. still have him around, hes good for an easy 200 bucks every now and then
at teh moment im still trying to visit the entire map so i know where everything is... then i wanna set up a spy network
Yeah it's a good ship. I usually make my captain with the iron bonus but i see that you can avoid fighting at all. Veils, pages and mirrors are more useful i think. I also have about 5k and the ship is first on my shopping list. I wonder if the gun and engine has to be sold beforehand or does it transfer to the new ship?
Also fighting enemies with about 200 hp/hull is usually easy. Most ships can be outmaneuvered by staying on their tails. Creatures make collisions and i can't seem to avoid them hitting me. Still the best tactic seems to be stealthily acquiring the target, firing, turning on the lamp to acquire faster for the next shot and usually shoot again before the enemy hits back even once. Then stay on their tails. But like i said - works only for ships or enemies with <70 hull (my gun makes about 34 damage IIRC).
I saw the opportunity to set up the spy network in the Khanate but didn't have one of the prerequists. Did manage to get some notoriety there though :/ Might be hard to maneouver some more over there.
Oh and does the tentacle kidnap your crew randomly when you are at sea? I wonder if it depends on terror level? Sometimes it happens one time after another.

ships are easy unless they have buddies.. its the sea monsters that i dont like fighting just yet... the bigger ones i mean... they can easily spin on you and ram you for huge damage, so you need a lot of room to maneuver, and unless you have a rear gun, it'll eat up a fair chunk of fuel too.
and yes i think the tentacle thing is fear based.
mirrors are very useful, not just for combat, but i see a lot of mirror checks for success/fail attempts...
ive been dumping a lot of secrets into increasing veils.. its great for sneak or lie checks and avoiding combat if you need to... im working on hearts now.
not only is it a great game that deserves success (despite the naysayers who just pass it off as a shitty browser game at full price), but i hope this also means shitloads of more content and huge dlc. all dlc. LOTS OF DLC. GIVE ALL DLC!! because i gets it for free because of early access :3
go outside and point at dogs anuses if you are so easily entertained, i envy you.
some people are looking for actual substance to their 'entertainment' from time to time
whether this extra value lies in gameplay form, nerative form or some other artful manner is up to them.
sorry for the salt, i just find it obnoxious when people comment on things that are obviously not things they have any chance of enjoying, you wont see me in the assassins creed thread, as any criticism i may have is irrelevant since that is not a type of game i enjoy.
Sunless sea in particular is one of those 'brilliant' games that are only 'brilliant' for some and extremely boring for everyone else, if anything, its kinda surprising how much attention it got in the first place.
anyway, eagerly awaiting the Zubmariner DLC, have fun anus countin' spajdr
Just started playing, seems like a great game. Music is really top notch and very atmospheric..
Games like this and other indies like Don't Starve, This War of Mine etc makes me really nostalgic It makes me think of the C64 era where you played something that was just completely different from anything else you had played + the games were about gameplay and building atmosphere (without relying on graphics alone) + the games very almost always very unforgiving.
The game is too much of a grind, it was fun for 4-5h though.
Actually i got a real urge to play something like Heroes of Might and Magic after playing this, because its kind of like that but doesnt have as much going for it (atmosphere and music is great, the rest, not so much). Any recommendations? Didnt care too much for Kings Bounty (first game).
Shame, the game really opens up after about 5 hours of play, in that you start to understand where to get which items for whom. Once the ball starts rolling, there are new events in a lot of ports that continue different new storylines.
My advice to avoid the grind: edit your save file and increase your money with 20k or so, so you can buy a ship with more space, so you need fewer trips back and forth.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
