@Mr.Tinkles you may have cooked your coil. i guess you are talking about the .5 ohm coil? on my atlantis at .5 and 25-30w it was fairly easy to burn the wick by not getting enough air through it. the air you are sucking through helps to cool the coil. after wrecking a few in my atlantis i realized that opening the air and direct to lung hitting it hard was the best way to prevent that. was hard to get used to but i prefer it now.
look on youtube on how to rebuild or rewick that tank. im sure theres lots of videos. i got some wicking cotton from the vape shop and rebuilt my atlantis coils for months. i still havnt actually needed to replace any of the first 5 pack i bought. i just change the wick when it starts to taste funky.
i like 12mg in my atlantis at .5, but i find in the new .3 coils i got its a bit strong (i hit those at 45w). i dropped to 6mg for things that run below .5 and it seems to work fine, though i vape more often (obviously). its all just finding the balance that will get you to stop cigarettes imo. everyone in the shops told me 12 was too high in my atlantis but it was perfect for me.
i also picked up the griffin rta today. its got a velocity rda deck under a glass tank (not sure the capacity but its prolly 3-5ml). put in dual 6 wrap 3mm clapton coil (pre made clapton wire) on it. it comes it at .31 ohms. its a beauty. was easy to build/wick. juice and air flow controls are nice. looks great imo. the only problem i had was that the top gasket for the glass section got doubled up on the bottom section somehow. i actually saw that it was kinda hanging out the side but i stuck it in the groove and didnt realize it belonged somewhere else. ended up losing most of my first fill of juice, but i figured it out pretty quick and recovered. gives great hits and wicks well with no leaks so far.

SO MUCH THIS!
I actually got quite sick this previous week when I decided to go back to vaping, fever and all. And just the common cold can hit me for like 3 weeks when smoking but I got it when I was vaping before and it just went away after a couple of days. ^_^
@mach1ne
Yup, must have been that I made a booboo with the coil cause when I switched to the 1.2ohm I've been able to vape without issues.
I did get some Japanese cotton with the tank so I'll try to rebuild it (also got an RDA coil) but the problem is that I'm still not able to quite take lung hits as I start coughing like crazy after a 4 second lung hit.
I guess it'll pass after a week once I get used to it and I'm also going to buy 6mg/ml 70/40 juice next week so that should smooth out the transition for me.
I think I went for the big guns too quickly and should have still stayed with the one mega as I got used to that one quicker.
But yeah, still lovin' it.

The Kayfun Lite manual recommends no more than 6mg, and that is no where near subohm, so lol |
I cant do 6, its like sucking wet air. I came from 2 packs of reds a day (2 1/2 some days). 12 seems about the right level that I can not need a cig, still want them..but 12 makes it so I dont crave it as bad.
Mr.Tinkles wrote: |
Are you guys doing straight lunghits or mouth to lung?
As I'm doing the latter I don't let it vape for more than maybe 5-8 seconds and I was running it at 15-18W and now I'm just getting a burnt taste most of the time with the kanger subtank.
| I do lung, no matter the MG level or pg/vg ratio mouth to lung does nothing for me..I loose the throat hit, and feeling that its 'doing' something.
But I think its all subjective, got to remember Im 41 and been smoking 2+ packs a day for 20 years.

@DXWarlock
I switched to 6 or 8 (depending on manufacturer) and I can really inhale those lung hits without a problem now.
12 was a bit too harsh for me.
@mach1ne
I'm really happy right now with just changing coils (each lasts me 7-12 days) and I figure it's still cheaper than smoking regular ciggies.
Anywho, so I've been trying a couple of different juices and flavors and I've found 3 so far that are great. Black cherry (no idea how it's any different than regular cherry as they taste the same), exotic fruits and firstlab 3 from suprem-e.
Then I also got some real duds, ordered some that were just waaaay too sweet and tasted really bad (some kind of marshmallow milkshake and vanilla).
The one's from suprem-e (imported from Italy) were a bit more expensive but hot damn did they rattle my taste-buds. It starts off with a berry mix and the after-taste is a nice minty menthol-like taste that just heightens the whole taste. Too bad this juice costs twice of the regular one's but I'll probably get some more as a sort of a 'desert' kind of juice.
So many flavors, so little time.
PS
A whole week sofar without ciggies and I don't even miss 'em.

good for you!
If you are from europe, especially germany: remember to fill your supplies. base liquid with nicotine preferred. and get some rdas/rtas that last. You won't be allowed to buy/sell those later that year (Regulation starts in May). liquids will only be available with a max. nicotine concentration of 20 mg. bottles will be 20 ml max. no more fruity juices, only tobacco flavors, no more Tanks with more than 2 ml capacity. More bullshit to come, f.e. boxes with a max output of 3 volts. no more pg in liquids (srsly wtf?), and other bullshit.
vaping like you know it will be dead in Europe by the end of the year.

@AwE
Wow, the tobacco companies are really making sure to kill this before it really takes off. They gotta protect their money. >.<
That's kind of why I quit the first time as I went to my (non)local vape-shop and all the juices with nicotine were removed due to whatever made-up reason the health management came up with (this is Sweden btw). I just left the vape-shop that day and bought me a pack of ciggies out of pure anger.
I won't be doing that mistake again, this time I'm bulking up and if push comes to shove I'll start ordering from outside Sweden and/or make my own juices. I'll also bulk up on tanks and batteries (slowly but surely).

I recently bought 3 l pg base 48 mg for ~130 €. The chinese shops had some good promotions over the holidays, too. Ordered some tanks and mods.
I now have 4 mech mods, 2 vv/vw mods, 1 tc mod, 3 taifun gt2, 2 flash e vapor, 1 flash e vapor mini, 1 aqua v2, 2 Horizon + mini kit, 1 big german, and roughly 14 l of 9er base (including the 3 l I just bought).
Cost: I can just guess... 450 € max I guess. Should last some years
edit:
cheap shop for nic liquid:
http://www.liquidshop24.com/Basen/Bunkerbase-48.html - coupon code "pauldampfer"
Base without nicotine - ebay/amazon. 5 l ~ 15€ each (PG or VG)

As far as I know, they will lock down the devices to a max 20w and a max voltage (the figure escapes me ATM), something along they lines.

The Enabling Act
Sounds familiar? Well - the germans did it again...
The "Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft" now has the the power to regulate like they wish. Without the need of any further adaption of any law. Like in Nazi Germany...

You are not allowed to buy pure nicotine. You'll need a "Sachkundenachweis"...

...which is probably better that way. the whole scaremongering about exploding e-cigs is bad enough, people killing themselves in mixing accidents would put the final nail in the coffin really quick.
as for getting it, you can always order 150ml bottles with up to 48mg from switzerland, but that's gonna be neither cheap nor satisfying
and regarding stocking up: any recommendations for EU shops that have nice bulk prices and/or good aroma selections?
i also made some DIY liquid a while ago with about 3-5% aroma (2-5% is usually recommended), steeped it for 2 weeks, but the flavor is just too weak compared to premade ones. they were all from flavourart, are they crap or did i maybe miss something?

using some flavourart aroma as well, some are just meeeh (but thats for every brand) and some need the right mixture. always good to read store reviews about it. set up some strawberry + a little shot of peppermint yesterday, tried a drop just after mixing (taste already fine with 5% + 0,5% of the peppermint, should be awesome in 3-4 days). have another flavourart aroma, dunno what it was, that needed only 2-3%, otherwise it would taste like catpiss. always try to use less percentage, its easy to add a few more aroma later than mixing it up with more base

So I got a vengeance tank from council of vapor yesterday and holy fuck the flavour is amazing on this thing. I need to refill the fucker ever 2 hours but still, this is definitely an awesome tank.
I know, I know...RDA's are best for flavour but I couldn't be arsed right now to build my own coils.
So this is the next best thing at the moment.

Anyone got any experience with the ceramic coils?
Me and a guy I know was talking about coils. I refuse to build my own..to much hassle, id go back to smoking I think if I had to buy wire, cotton, coil it, and all that.
He was saying he uses the ceramic ones, and only need to replace his like once a month. On my kanger subohm Im replacing the ooc (premade) coils like once a week to get away from it tasting burnt or just 'old.
Not too sure if a coil could ever go a month? Anyone use them and know if they last longer?

Well, the guy at the vapeshop said that the coils in the vengeance are ceramic (I don't know which part though or if it's true).
Next month I'll order from fasttech the vaperesso target (as it's much cheaper than buying locally), so in two months I could give my thoughts on it.
Edit:
The coils in the vaperesso target are supposed to last for like 6 months if you keep re-wicking them (or was it without re-wicking them?).

Without is what I was told.
Friend said hes had his in a month solid, with no maintenance other than filling it with liquid and making sure it doesn't run low on it.
I just cant see a coil lasting that long. I mean a week tops is what I can do on mine before I cant stand to hit it enough and change the coil.
