Well, that's sad. But their last good was Fable 3 from 2010. And that already was a bit derped down, compared to the previous games.
So i guess it's good to just end it here, and maybe let other devs pick up the Fable and hopefully Black & White franchise.

I remember when they made interesting games. Back in the early 2000s. This is what you get for becoming a M$ slave, you silly fuckers.

Quote: | In the wake of 20-year-old UK studio Lionhead's closure last month, Kotaku UK has heard from multiple sources that there were in fact several potential buyers lined up for the studio during its consultation period (the span of time, mandated by UK law, during which a company must explore options before shutting down).
Potential buyers included some of the biggest names in video game publishing - though, unsurprisingly given the confidential nature of discussions such as this, we were not able to confirm involvement with any of the specific publishers mentioned. The discussions were not just ephemeral: letters of intent were reportedly filed.
Why didn't it happen? One source close to Xbox claims it's because Microsoft would not sell the Fable IP along with the studio, despite offers that were in the range of hundreds of millions. "90% of the people interested just walked away at that point," said the source.
Without ownership of the IP, any company that bought Lionhead would have to publish new Fable games (or Fable Legends, if it had been salvaged) under a licensing agreement with Microsoft - not a favourable condition for anyone looking to make money from the franchise. |

This is why intellectual property and trademark laws need to be overhauled *big time*. Too many shitheels just sitting on properties that by rights should belong to the creator.

Anniversary. F3 is just too.... streamlined. It's not a terrible terrible awful game, but it's not F1 or 2, and Anniversary is a prettier F1.

Anniversary with the patches is good from what I understand. Screw 3. Or rather, watch some videos of 3 and figure out if you can handle that crap.

Fable 2 obviously, if you can find the elusive PC version.

Just read the Fable 4 pitch part
Quote: | "However, we were also under pressure to be enormously profitable. To be clear, Fable 1, 2 and 3 were highly profitable, despite the somewhat protracted developments of Fable 1 and 2, but not being as profitable as one or two of Microsoft's other properties created a certain amount of tension."
It was in this context that a pitch for a Fable 4 game was rejected. John McCormack was the chief architect of the pitch. He wanted to switch to Unreal Engine 4 and move the series into the technological, industrial age, with tram cars and flying machines. "We wanted to hit the late Victorian proper far out Jules Verne shit," McCormack says. |
Quote: | In the first Fable, Bowerstone was a small town. In Fable 2 it was a big town. In Fable 3 it was a city. In McCormack's Fable 4, Bowerstone was London, vast and dense. Jack the Ripper would run the streets, a Balverine in disguise. The game would lean heavily on British mythology. McCormack planned to take Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, give them a Fable twist and drop them in "this kind of weird fucked up London environment".
"And that was going to be Fable 4, and it would be darker and grittier. And because it was R-rated it would have the prostitutes and the humour. I was like, man, this is going to be fucking brilliant, and everybody was really into it." |
Quote: | Well, not everyone. The pitch was rejected because Lionhead had to switch to making games as a service.
McCormack was incensed by the decision, and says it was one of the reasons he left the company in 2012. "It was like, you've reached your cap of players for RPG on Xbox and you need to find a way to double that, and you're not going to do it with RPG," he says. "I thought, yes we can.
"I said, look, just give us four years, proper finance, give us the chance Mass Effect has, Skyrim has, the games at the time. They're getting four years and a lot of budget. Give us that, and we'll give you something that'll get you your players. Nah, you've had three shots and you've only tripled the money. It's not good enough. Fuck off. That's what I was annoyed about." |
FUCK Microsoft

IMO,Lionhead's case imply about Microsoft recent abilites/attidue towerds the gaming market overal... something really, really went wrong with them,as they actually did good job with the 360.
Let alone they created console around %30-50% weaker then it's competitive it was the least of thier mistakes like amateurs:
DRM-Online-yes,they did cancelled it last minute, but the damage has been already done, tough the cancellation was the best thing they could do to reduce it.
UWP and Win-10 store..... did I even need to continues?
Quantum Break-what a mass,I think that Microsoft pushed Remedy to get out this game which was literally half backed, especially the PC version.
I just hope Remedy won't suffer the same fate as Lionhead,as I still deemd them as good company.
Microsoft's attidues towerds PC's gamers-Still disappointing,I would even say Belittling,it was seems it was improved... but with dumbed down Freemuim Froza 6,UWP and Win10 turning out to be,I can't honsetly say it.

You forgot the Freemium Killer Instinct
But, yeah MS is completely out of touch with what the PC market is now. They;ve focused so much on mobile and consoles that they can't see how unwanted are their "ideas" on the platform.

Yeah sure, Lionhead had an awesome idea and Fable 4 would've been an instant classic, but MS ruined it.
