Yeah same for me, after i hit 43 i now dont see as well at close distance. I had the DK2, didnt need glasses, it came with 2 different lenses so i used the lenses that is for far sighted.. for near sighted its worse i read, then you might need glasses.
obviously lenses who exactly fits your vision can be made by an optician too.. can't be that expensive i believe.

I bought Google glasses for my nephew and was surprised to see that WITH glasses, it won't work even though my glasses fit. The image doesn't line up at all. Without glasses, it works very well - far better than I expected for €20. My phone (Note 4) must have a pretty good gyroscope because even looking around doesn't feel disorienting which is something some people complain about.

Interesting news.
Elite: Dangerous will have Rift support. While that is marginally interesting in itself, it's the next bit that I find worrying.
Quote: | Any existing and future players who wish to permanently migrate to the Oculus Store will be able to get a free code from the Frontier Store (as they do with Steam keys currently). |
Now, unless this is old news, or I'm reading this wrong, the only way you can play E: D using the Rift is to play the Rift Store version.
So reading between the lines, does this mean that ONLY games available from the Rift Store can be used with the Rift, and if your chosen game isn't on there (such as ETS2), then you can't play it? Is this how they're locking you in to their API?

According to the Ars Technica article ( http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/03/confirmed-elite-dangerous-will-have-official-native-oculus-rift-support/ ):
Braben confirmed to Ars that all three different buying options will include full Rift 1.0 support as well as full SteamVR support for the HTC Vive (though there might be an odd edge case with using SteamVR and the Vive with the Oculus store version of the game).

So the Sony VR system is going to be just $399 in the US, and to be released in October.
Kinda says it all really, it's not as 'advanced' as the Vive and Rift, but I bet it provides a very good VR experience. I just wish it was PC compatible somehow.
Edit:
Quote: | Price: $399 (£282) excluding tax/£350 including VAT
Release date: October 2016
Computer required: PlayStation 4
Built-in sensors: Accelerometer, gyroscope
Controls: DualShock 4 gamepad, PlayStation Move hand batons, PlayStation 4 motion-sensing camera - none of which are included in the price
Resolution: 1,920 by 1,080 pixels
Field of view: 100 degrees
Refresh rate: 120Hz |
Fucking hate consoles even more now

Everyone on the Oculus official forums (including me) are frustrated that there is no info about this whatsoever.

Doesn't this create input lag?
It needs to process at least 2 frames to interpolate a new frame before it can send it back to the player.

God, I wish oculus would just give shipping update. We are less than two weeks away from launch and still nothing. I'm hoping with all the cancellation that have been going around my order moved from May to April.

I canceled my Vive pre-order yesterday because a few elements were bugging me:
- I have a Samsung Note 4 with a pretty good screen (2560x1440) which has a higher resolution than either Vive or the Rift. Even then, with a higher-end headset with big lenses, the pixels are pretty darn big and the image is remarkably fuzzy. Reading text is nearly impossible unless it's pretty big and that's a big turn off for me. I expected the image to be sharper than this. The screen-door effect is barely visible but having everything look blurry is less forgiving. Basically, I think that we need to wait for 4K displays before we can have the detail we'd ideally want in games. Right now, it looks like you're playing a PS2 game in terms of resolution.
- I started to realize how heavily fragmented the market will become and as much as I love the Vive's motion sensors, if few games are created to support it, it's just a €300 addition I don't really get to fully use.
- I mainly got the Vive with the idea of watching 3D movies, etc. and right now my Note 4 will allow for this as well AND while being 100% wireless.
- €975 is just too much for a 1st gen product which will quickly be replaced by better hardware
