Yeah but we get older and with age comes (mostly) more money so you can spend some. Also, I like Steam for the convenience. It's not so much that downloading is easier but patching is automatically, screenshots are easy, mp/coop, etc.
I do usually wait for a sale (I usually wait for about 60% off) because 1) the number of titles that are actually well playable on release are like 1-2 each year and 2) it saves a lot of money and 3) I have still more than enough to play.
how could you have 13 years? i created my account while open beta and it says 12 yrs
Because I was on steam before it was cool Literally... Everybody hated it xD
Well we didn't have much to like about it now did we. The constant crashing, nothing worked. Then Valve decided to do that bullshit with installing HL2 with the discs but then it had to download like 27gigs of data to unlock the game and that happened to be at a time when you had to be rich to get more than 500KB/s download speed so you spent all day trying to play HL2
Now correct me if I'm wrong because it was a long damn time ago, but I don't think people really accepted and super loved steam until Left 4 Dead hit it. Finding how easy it was to join into friends games with a couple clicks and all that.
My Steam account is still tied to an old email address as the username when it demanded having an email for a user name!
I remember I paid money to get into it to play the Counter-Strike 1.6 beta. I think that whole thing was through an exclusive deal with Fileshack back in the day.
When Steam launched it was a festering pustule of shittiness, and it took several years before it finally became something *worth* using.
True, but back then internet as we see it today was still not there. I didnt even had internet when hl2 launched. Only got it year later.
So it was super bold of them to do that move.

SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
I need a new processor/mobo/ram/GPU... who wants to buy my Steam account?
Pah, do you even know what "decline in value" means? I'll give you a tenner.
You're absolutely right, the games have declined in value... but even if I only want TEN PERCENT of their value (a number MS seems to think is fair) that would still be a GRAND. More than enough for an entire new PC \o/
quite a few complaining at VR's cost with 5 digit value accounts.
I'm pretty sure I haven't spent 20% of that number on steam in the 12 years that I have my account. The numbers are taken from lalaland mathematics. So don't take them too serious
Pretty sure I got the lowest number The statistics are weird though, says I paid full price for MGS V and Mad Max, which isn't the case. Even halving it would be more than what I got them for
quite a few complaining at VR's cost with 5 digit value accounts.
outside all games are valued at face value and not what we paid for them, this is kinda over the last like 13 years we've had steam, pretty sure we're not going to save up for 13 years with VR
