Well you missed XII then the Japanese international Zodiac version is one of the best FFs ever and unlike every other game in the series with a very mature and interesting story set in the best FF setting ever, Ivalice from Vagrant Story and FF tactics, seriously give that one a try.
It's not only my favorite FF it's one my favorite JPGs.

Shame they never actually "finished" the game, the last act was noticeably tattered in pieces, unlike the rest of the game.

Well unfortunately Matsuno got ill from the stress working on it halfway through and just stopped coming to work and they had to replace him with someone else.

Regarding that quote earlier:
Quote: | "I have in mind a version of Final Fantasy XV that is more technically developed," Tabata said. "This version could incorporate things that we were forced to abandon because of the limitations of home consoles. With the PC, this would be an opportunity to release a version far superior in terms of quality and tech. That said, if we choose to develop this project, the development will start from scratch by doing research of what would be the best technology to use. It might not be a simple port of the console version." |
Classic damage control to make pcucks "feel better" for being cucked.
Do you fell better? You will get superior version in 2-5 years!

It's weird seeing someone admitting the limitations of consoles hardware. Despite being the truth, publishers have always avoided that. Peasants like to turn their heads away from reality.
If he really meant what he said about all that, then I'm glad they might at least take the theoretical PC version seriously, because FF13 was a complete joke.
They might just expect fans on the PC to give in and buy the console version, then buy the enhanced version 2+ years later. Which sucks for us, but I have to admit it makes a lot of sense from their perspective.
They could port it to PC now, but less people will buy the enhanced version having already beaten it before, so it would make less profit. Its hard to justify a project like that.
If they don't port it now, then they can market it again in a few years, and give it enough momentum to actually sale enough to matter.
OR, they could just port it now, and forget about the enhance version. This also make sense since the game aren't exclusive or anything. They could just half ass the port and still make good money out of it. Put more effort into it, and it will sell even better. The only problem is they don't get to double dip. But I wonder if a FF title has enough sway to do that, only GTAV had that.
Honestly, I just want to play the fucking game, why are they making this so fucking hard for us.

If the reports of the demo thing above are anything to go by, it's probably because their magnum opus runs at 15fps on consoles.
That would explain the whole research and build from scratch thing. They know a straight port that runs like ass on PC will get hammered, not the sort of thing you want in the age of Steam refunds.

After 15 years of disappointment, can Final Fantasy be great again?
Square Enix: "We've finally woken up from the dream that was Final Fantasy VII."
Quote: | The clear message, within a venue synonymous with such large swaths of American pop culture, was that FFXV will engage with a Western audience more than any other game in the series. What's more, Square Enix believes that—after a string of so-so sequels and rocky product launches—FFXV is the game that will make Final Fantasy great again. |

From all what ive seen it looks good but the game itself is garbage. Definetly not hyped. Im more happy about the VII Remake, even if its split in multiparts.

Im still not sure about that at all. Game looks like it could range anywhere from 'epic' to 'boring' for me. But I dont mind the looks of playstyle. How did you determine the behavior of your party members in the demo?

There are a bunch of statements in that article that just reinforce that they still really don't get why their sales dropped.

its both, its kinda Epic in some parts and some parts are just plain and not intresting at all but this could be because its just a demo. same goes for the Ai, on few enemys it works okayish but in large groups i found them kinda dull.
Maybe its flawless and i played it wrong, dunno. Havent played much, only 20-30 mins but the impression i got from it was not so good.

Ok i just played the latest PS4 demo and i will definitely wait for the inevitable PC /PS4 Neo remaster a few months later honestly both the PS4 and One version are pretty bad from the latest demo i tried and the videos i saw and i rather wait for a better version tbh, they are allrdy talking about a "improved" PC version in the latest interviews and how they want to implement the stuff they couldn't do on PS4/One it's very apparent they have a hard time getting this thing to work on current gen consoles and there where several technical changes and downgrades allrdy.
The PC version will come since they pretty much released every FF on PC now and even the worst ports (FF XIII/2) are still better on PC then on consoles.
I sure hope they give us the FF XII HD remaster before that i wouldn't even care about the delay then.

Final Fantasy started sucking with X because it got too anime.
XII was amazing because it wasn't as anime as X or XIII.
They need to make a FF game that is more in line with SaGa Frontier 2.

Bit off topic, but i see there is a translation patch for the Zodiac edition for XII with a developer who suddenly decided to stop working on it while there is missing text, for god knows what reason, while still posting on the forum. Anything significant missing? Hate it when they rerelease games with such changes so you feel like you're massively missing out by playing the original.

No idea. I'm hoping for Zodiac 2 on Steam.
SaGa Frontier 1 was just all over the place, typical SaGa game.
SaGa Frontier 2 though had a well written (but since you could play sequences out of order it was kinda inconsistent if you just did it like that) plot that was truly epic spanning lifetimes of characters and was pretty good. Your heroes may die but the world moves on anyway.
