The Trust 7.5/10 - Maybe just because my expectations for Nick Cage movies are so low, but quite enjoyed this, except for the ending which felt rushed.

Predator - 9/10
One of my favorite action movies of all time. Still holds up today for sure. I love the simpler style of these older action movies. No modern cinema gimmicks like shaky cam or over editing. It's intense on it's on merits. The cast is godlike except for the bumbling asian chick. Only thing I thought was meh was the music score.

Deadpool - 7.5/10
Pretty decent overall and the comedy mostly hits the mark but I felt let down by the actual plotline. Save the chick blah blah. If your ganna make a batshit crazy movie you could at least drop the cliched story arc and do something more interesting. Suits hedging their bets Evil or Very Mad
The poke at the budget at the mansion was great hah

A perfect day 7/10

It's a bit slow at times but I like the absurdism/dark humor in it. So overall a decent movie. Del Toro was good in it, usually he bugs me but thankfully not in this one. Smile

@madmax17 Thanks. I don't know what is the first movie you suggesting. Show me the money? Confused Searched, but some Korean stuff popped up.

Will check out Draft Day later today. Smile

Saw My All American (2015). 6/10. Didn't expect it to be poignant. Had no idea about Steinmark, so it was not bad.

The Jungle Book (2016) - 8/10. This one was a delightful watch. Very Happy Even liked the 3D.

Mr. Right (2015) - 5/10. Few moments here and there. Rockwell was cool, but Kendrick was awful. Sad

Draft Day (2014) - 6/10. last 30 minutes were good.

Look Who's Back (Er ist wieder da)

1/10

Absolute waste of time,try-hard "comedy" sequences mixed with fearmongering (mostly towards the end). No idea if the book does a better job transporting the message but the movie, without any high or lows, drags itself for almost 2 hours trough a script that has nothing to offer. I expected something like "Adolf-the nazi-pig" by Walter Moers which i really enjoyed back then.
Might have to add that i have a real problem with german movies in general.

yeah... 5th wave..

just... just don't do it. This is what I imagine twilight to have been like. Mostly just a teenage girl acting ditzy, and falling in love. It's predictable as fuck, painful to watch, and just kinda boring.

first... 10 or so minutes where they sum up the first 3 waves, was pretty cool though. If the film had been just THAT, but fleshed out and a bit slower burning, I'd have been happy.

Watched The Hobbit movies.. Before that, I had only watched Hobbit 1 in theaters.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Extended Edition - 7.5/10

Quote:
You could call this LotR-lite. And for that reason it's actually not half bad. The LotR cameos backported into the Hobbit also work pretty good.

Of course there are some pacing issues but if you are patient you'll manage.

The Extended Edition has a couple of interesting scenes but for most parts adds more dwarf antics and songs. I can't say I recommend it.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Extended Edition - 5/10

Quote:
Halfway in, this movie began to barely remind me of LotR (and I am well aware that The Hobbit novel is not written the same way as The LotR ones). Specifically The World of Man bogged down the movie and felt like it was cut from some other film. Tauriel's love triangle is terrible terrible stuf. Legolas doesn't look like himself (well, the actor aged) and acts completely different too. Most importantly Bilbo isn't even the protagonist anymore. (Who is? Hell if I know.)

There's some stuff with Sauron that don't mesh well with the main storyline and even I who hasn't read any of the books could tell there weren't in the original novel.

At least Smaug was pretty good.

The Extended Edition's scenes for the most part are distracting. Every time something felt off I was checking if the scene was missing from the theatrical and yup, I was right! That being said there are a couple of important scenes that are added so I don't know which cut to recommend.. Pick your poison.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies - Extended Edition - 4.5/10

Quote:
That was embarrassing. Bilbo is a glorified extra in this. This movie is just a big CGI battle. And the EE adds even more bullshit CGI action. Stay away from it and when I say "it" I mean either cut.

Final notes:

- Each subsequent movie added more and more CGI and let me tell you some of it looked tragically bad.
- Ian McKellen was good in all 3 (he was the best part of all 3 films come to think of it), although again surprise surprise in each subsequent movie he has less and less screen time.
- I am thinking that if the decision to expand the 2 movies to 3 wasn't made then the 2nd movie would be more like the first - which is actually pretty good all things considered.

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

People need to re-read the comics, cause the movie wasn't that funny.

The Descendants (2011) - 5/10. Grabbed it because it was labeled as 'comedy'-drama. There was no comedy at all. Absolute waste of time. Clooney was great, but everyone and everything in the movie sucked.

The Big Short (2015) - 6/10. Boring. Embarassed
