Can anyone that has played past the first 3-4 or four bosses tell me if the game ever opens up a bit more like the previous DS games? It feels like I'm always only have one area to go through and as soon as something new seems to open up it turns out to be nothing but a small minor area in itself.
I have killed the 3 first bosses and gotten up to the fourth one

I have to say, i've never liked the souls games, bloodborne either. Not much difference with DS3. Seems a bit more polished and i'm not cursing the controls as much, made it all the way to the 4th world, the forest or whatever, but i just can't muster the willpower to start up the game again.
It's nerve wrecking to carry a large amount of souls with you, constantly check your damned potions and constantly have to repeat the same areas over and over and over again to get the damned souls needed to upgrade your ever increasingly costly stats just so you can basically die within 3 hits of the next area's idea of a gangbang. Meh, guess some game's just aren't for me..

Spoiler: | You need to go back to the top of Irithyll of the Boreal Valley and kill Pontiff Sulyvahn. If you remember the watery area below that city, there's a tunnel leading into the sewers that you have to travel through. |

Grinding the same area over and over again is a skill now? Cause otherwise you get 3-shotted by most mobs.
Where's the skill in being able to discern an attack from an amorphous mass of black jelly? Cause i've died to that first undead transforming peasant more times than i care to admit.
My problem with this game is that it becomes more and more of a chore as you go on, it's basically just like a mmo only without the multiplayer aspect of it.

you dont grind, you just fail cause you have no skill and have to do the same parts again and again till you realize how to survive them. grinding for lvl ups is useless

You just need to learn the tricks. I died first time with that peasant too, but after that i rushed right in and murdered his face before he got the chance to transform.

Is there anyway to spot which peasant is infected before he morphs into the killer mass?

Think the infected peasants look a bit darker. Could be imagining things.

"Git Gud" couldn't be more apt. Use the tools the game gave you to deal with these enemies. There's no less than 3 ways to deal with this type of enemy not even including rolling. Range, Fire damage, or kill it before it transform.
People complain after so many games about how all one needs to do is strafe right, roll and kill everything. That is such a exaggerated false statement. Even in the first level the game gives you difficult enemies that can be easily dealt with non-traditionally. But instead, people complain because they are too simple minded and think they can just spam roll and win against everything. If that didn't work, let's repeat again and again and fail, then blame the game for being a grind. YOU are the one grinding here.
You treat the game like its a MMO where combat is straight forward, clearly you don't respect these Souls games enough to try and understand they really are. |
Too lazy to pick everything apart so i'll just go for the gist of it.
"If that didn't work, let's repeat again and again and fail, then blame the game for being a grind. YOU are the one grinding here. "
This is simply not possible, since if you die a second time, the first set of sets you collected disappears. What i refer to by grind is that i clear an area entirely, go to a bonfire, reset it, do it again, over and over, until i collect around 10k souls, which at level 27 or whatever the fuck im at, equates to around 2 upgrades, so that when a boss fight finally comes my way, i don't have to get killed instantly and redo it all over again. I've yet to die to any one of the 5 boss (3 bosses + 2 mini bosses) fights ive had so far, so i'm guessing this strategy works.

What he says is that you clearly are doing something wrong if you have to grind for souls just to beat a boss. Do you really think that the game is only beatable by having 5 more hp because you were able to give one more point to vigor? How do people beat this game at SL1 or with just bare hands or bongos? Because the gameplay mechanics allow for it. You have to git gud mate!

Dirty peasants armed with pitchforks! It just shows how the game severely discriminates against casters. Fuck you, from.

Yep, pretty sure there's plenty of people that can do that. Me, at my age and reaction speed not so much. Truth be told, i doubt any of you here can do those wonderful feats of amazing skill, such as bare hand fighting or bongos that you're talking about.
After my own experience with the game, i'm actually more inclined to believe that you're doing the exact same thing i am. Like grinding the room before the 2nd boss for the full lothrir knight armor set or clearing the bonfire with the dragon spawn for the easy 400 souls it nets for no work, doing to the ballista fields and drawing the mobs out so that the spears take them out, then putting those souls into resistances. Sure, i'm no expert, never said i was, i'm not playing a thief, not using daggers, not even using skills since i don't know the controls for them, i wanted to see what everyone finds so enjoyable about the game, but i don't find it too enjoyable.
To conclude the argument, yes, the extra points i put in vigor and vitality did help, as i've got around 108 physical resistance, and a life bar the size of half my screen while embered. Which allows me to take just enough hits to finish up a boss fight. Most of my boss fights end with me down to 0 flasks and around 20% hp.
