well there is even part when you can invade NPC's world
Both things they did in previous games. They actually took it further in this one. I know of one instance in a "quest" line where you get summoned by an NPC to help them with a boss. Pretty cool!
Latter. Had same issue multiple times. However, a new sign pops up within few seconds close to it and you can summon.
Good.
I must say i enjoy roaming with other bros much more.
Was just playing with two other randoms, while suddenly a mad phantom invades. Backstabbed one of the bros before he got killed.
I don't think I'll be able to even close to finishing this. 8 hours in I am just in Undead Settlement (light the 3rd bonfire there).
Overall this game is incredibly hard I don't even remember how many times I died. Bloodborne was hard as well but at leasy you can get back your lost health by hitting back and had a lot of (20) blood vials (similar to estus flasks) with you.
Enemies you encounter here are either easy peasy or ridiculously overpowered with pretty much infinite stamina allowing them never ending combos. Trying to escape their attacks consume nearly all of your stamina and don't allow you to hit back much.
I love the challenge and art style of the game but my patience wears thin. Hats off to the people that can progress easily in this game.
Unlike DS1 it's not so easy to just rush trough areas, ignoring the enemies just to get to the boss foggate.
You are practically forced to clean the area out, at least partitially, which takes soooooo much time in between boss fights.
Jesus Christ, every area feels like you die in Anor Londo and return aaaaaaaaalll the way back to the firekeepers bonfire in AL, only to go through the whole top-cathedral section again over the castle walls until you reach the next safepoint / bonfire.
Which is why you rotate the stairwell the other way and unlock the midpoint bonfire in Anor Londo, screw going through the cathedral multiple times.
But yeah enemies will fucking pursue you throughout the entire area barring ladders or actually making it back to the bonfire to reset the hostility, and respawn everyone again.
They are also really good at pathfinding and AI differs a bit from one enemy type to another where one might try to carefully move towards you shield raised and another just rush at you swinging, potentially jumping at you and falling into a pit or such like the upper rafters at the Deep Cathedral area.
Enemies also love ganging up on you to and then you get into this horrible situation where you get hit by every enemy in succession usually killing you, enemies also have pretty varied movesets and some will use weapon arts against you, NPC invaders in particular can be pretty damn tough unless you manage to cheap them out in some way.
(Some of the heavier hitting attacks can also deal multiple hits in a row easily depleting most of your healthbar if you fail to block or dodge.)
Do you return to the High Wall at a later point in the story? I think I've explored every nook and cranny and killed the boss but there are sill a couple doors that are locked or open only from the other side.
so im guessing in the swamp, there is a covenant about the invaders.... was getting invaded every 5 min til i decided to use blend into environment when 2 invaded and went to eat; got back and still they were looking for me
Wow. I got seriously pissed. No boss fight caused problems for me, but Abyss Watchers is kicking my ass. Died 20 times there. Problem is, second phase, after boss finishes his combo, you have only a very short opening to actually strike back. But if I dodged, then I'm out of range. By the time I get back in range, he's already on another combo. Very frustrating, and I'm a guy who basically finished every and all games ever played on hardest possible difficulty.

Also, it seems to me, like Crystal Sage's Rapier is broken. I do less than half of the attack power in total - basically I'm doing only the magical damage part of it. Yes, I took in to account absorbs, and yes, I have tried on multiple enemy types. It just sucks - and it is my best weapon, and am tired of the fucking boring katana from the onset of the game.
Hmm, okay, checked some posts on the net. Seems I skipped a whole area - the Cathedral area should be done before this boss - which is strange for me, because leading up to the Abyss Watchers, the enemies have been complete cake.
What I don't like about it is that it seems to (not 100% certain) very linear, DS2 levels of linearity.
i wouldnt say it like that
yeah
DS1 was insanely multi-layered and multi-pathed and filled with scortcut between areas making it great world design, but pretty much all the areas after Anor Londo were kinda lackluster in level design compared to early ones
DS2 is kinda straightforward with couple different paths , but overall world design makes little to no sence
DS3 so far is linear in terms of area progression, but compared to DS2 it makes sence and there aren't some crazy nonsensical paths as far as level design goes in DS3 there are some huge areas with levels of shortcuts and layers comparable to what's in DS1 ... just not in between areas like in DS1
That freaking crystal wizard, took me like 7-8 tries to beat
Reminded me a bit about Darklurker, though not quite as hard, not even close.
Does anyone know if embers could be needed later in great quantities like human effigies were in Dark Souls 2 to keep trying to beat Darklurker (human form required to enter the area where Darklurker was)?
If they aren't I rather sell many of them for souls as I can easily gain ember form by sunbroeing.

I thought if you didn't use amber you couldn't get invaded..same as in DS1..damn

I guess you are not playing the legit version?
I summon other phantoms often if i can. Makes the gameplay much more enjoyable with others, but also a bit easier.
I agree on the strange difficulty curve for enemies though. In the beginning you have those red capet knights, that can fuck you easily.
Then in the undead settlement you have mostly those undeads you can roll into to stumble them, and kill them in 2-3 hits lol.

oh shit, same case here then, stuck on abyss watchers and was expecting the cathedral to come next
Didn't know about Emma NPC. Safe to kill her early and proceed without having any complications?
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
bevore u Fight an enemy do u lock the view on it? and to get to its backside for backstabbing do u roll around while still beeing locked on to the enemy? or do u unlock the view and then roll around and Turn around again by locking the view onto the enemy again?

puuh i hope u understand what i mean!?
That works, you can also just move behind a enemy and attack to do a backstab if it's within reach of the current weapon though the angle can be a bit finicky so you'll likely do a couple of normal swings too when attempting this.
Can also parry or break a enemies guard to attack from the front (riposte) for usually even greater damage than a backstab but it's a bit trickier to pull off.
(Enemies will also do both of these things towards you if they get the chance.)
Anyone else had sudden fps hit while playing? Ran smooth as butter until it suddenly dropped pretty badly in fps, and it lasted until i restarted the game :S
