Dat Crystal Sage boss is so annoying.. I died a lot when he started using clones, almost killed him but I always got hit by some magic shit in the end. I didn't have any throwing knives to dispatch clones fast while running around and I didn't have a bow that I could have used to shoot them clones from the top where they couldn't hurt me.
I summoned a player to help me but the boss bugged out and became immune to any damage ( a common bug when fighting him in co-op) After that I rage quit

Dat was the original plan. I ran to clone X started swinging my axe and immediately got hit\staggered by other clones spells

Don't waste your time on fighting clones, just run/roll to the real old fart, hit him 3-4 times and he will disappear with all the clones. Repeat 2-3 times and you're done.

You buy the soapstone from the merchant in Firelink.
And you need to be Ember to see summon signs ofc

When do you get an item, to offer your services as a phantom too?
I guess from a faction? Didn't find any yet though. :o
Oh and can you somehow "force" to show other players summon circles?
For some reason i stopped seeing any at all yesterday. Same today. |
You have to be in ember form to see summon signs and the area you're in must allow summons (most areas do) and the boss of the area must still be alive in your game.
If those conditions are met you should see summon signs if they're there.
As for allowing yourself to be summoned, buy a white sign soapstone from the shrine handmaid in your HQ. It's 500 souls.

Awesome, thanks my men!
Ah, so that is ember for.
I thought it was to restore your hollow state to human again.

Cause it is, not exactly hollow to human (hollowing in DS3 is a bit different) but in gameplay mechanics - very similar to humanities in DS2. You also had to be in human form to see other people's soapstone scribblings

Overall this game is incredibly hard I don't even remember how many times I died. Bloodborne was hard as well but at leasy you can get back your lost health by hitting back and had a lot of (20) blood vials (similar to estus flasks) with you.
Enemies you encounter here are either easy peasy or ridiculously overpowered with pretty much infinite stamina allowing them never ending combos. Trying to escape their attacks consume nearly all of your stamina and don't allow you to hit back much.
I love the challenge and art style of the game but my patience wears thin. Hats off to the people that can progress easily in this game. |
I guess you are not playing the legit version?
I summon other phantoms often if i can. Makes the gameplay much more enjoyable with others, but also a bit easier.
I agree on the strange difficulty curve for enemies though. In the beginning you have those red capet knights, that can fuck you easily.
Then in the undead settlement you have mostly those undeads you can roll into to stumble them, and kill them in 2-3 hits lol. |
Yes still isodemoing since I am not sure how much more I can take this. Granted, my 8 hours include a lot of wandering around and trying to hone my skills via exercising with enemies like you mentioned (red caped knights) so maybe actual time I tried to progress in the game is half of that. Still, it seems nearly impossible to kill overpowered enemies without losing health and that hinders the progress very quickly since you end up with no estus flasks very soon.

I always try these games when they come out, kill 3 or 4 bosses before i realize the time sink they actualy are, if you have the time and patience i guess this is wonderful , but each time i die in a boss and have to clear trash, just to go give it another try, i start thinking of the waste of time it actualy is.. and how many games i could be progressing, that are also actualy dificult, but dont have that dificulty artificialy inserted into the game, but thats just me, power to the ppl who can endure this gameplay, i uninstalled it to download some tv series i guess its a matter of priorities and how much time and effort your willing to put in a game, i dont mind dificult games at all, i play most my single players on hard or very hard, but this is just... that "Worth a Buy" guy has a few points tbh, and he also kinda hinted that if you like these types of struggles in games, thats fine.. and it is.. but not for me ahah

Just make a backup of your save. This is what I do. Fuck FROM Software and their dirty tricks.
When you hit ESC the game saves. So I have total commander opened with two tabs: the first one is the original save location, the second one is the backup location (2-3 folders in there just in case, for older saves).
So, I stop near a boss location, hit ESC, hit it again to close the inventory\status menu,ALT-TAB, F5, ALT-TAB, and proceed to killing a boss. If I die, I quickly get to the main menu, ALT-TAB,TAB(switches TC tabs), F5, ALT-TAB, load game.
Profit.
Sometimes I do this when I roam the world if I have lots of souls.
DS2 had a nice backup mod I think..
Oh, and if I want to respec my character and see how different stats affect my damage and whatnot , I switch steam to oflfine just in case, and use cheatengine to redistribute stats points I have already spent..

EXACTLY what I am trying to say...
My brother saw me playing this last night (at that moment I was exercising with the knights I told above) he saw what is happening on the screen and said: "What the hell is this? Guy pretty much never stops hitting and in the remaning time he has his tower shield up blocking and rotating with you when you dodge!?! What is the point of dodging if he'll rotate mid animation. I can't believe you are wasting time on this..." He skipped the fact that pretty much none of his hits are blockable with shield Knight here just an example here I am sure there are a lot more ridiculous enemies further in the game.
I believe developers of this game torturing people in the name of challenge. Someone told me (here I believe) Not letting people to retry a boss immediately is done as an incentive to kill the boss... Which is of course complete bull... because progressing in the game is the incentive to kill the boss no need any more incentive. This is a perfect example of a torture posing as a challenge.
If only the bosses were the problem, I would just use a trainer and skip those but normal enemies are problem here as well so I won't waste any more time on this. I'm glad for anyone somehow capable of enjoying this even though I don't understand how.

This is great so far. I've always had some mixed feelings about the souls series but so far this has held my attention. Can any expert tell`me what are the more noticeable changes in the mechanics from the previous ones (especially the second one as I remember that one best)?
