1. No idea. Does it? I'm maxed and I can't say I've noticed anything different besides the story thing that happens.
2. You don't. I think.

Yea, you can get 5 free level ups out of it.
It's also needed for one of the three endings.

Also you get Hollowing ranks by dying, if you have the Dark Sigil. If you talk to the grandpa, you can just get 5 free level ups in total:

You don't lose health from being hollowed. It's from being unkindled. You can be lvl99 hollow and kindled.

I really like the game. It is very difficult. More than 1 I think.

Whats surprising me most is how atmospheric and spooky it is. The gfx and eapecially sound design makes me tense as fuck. At least on headphones.

You're gonna love Irithyll Dungeon Razz

Aka The Tower of Latria II.

@KillerCrocker
Wait, ... this the first Souls game you ever played?

No no.
I've finished dark Souls1 5 times. Ds2 only once and now this seems to be incredible game here. Only 5 hours in.
Each game had fantastic sound design and gfx but this one is just scary somehow. Maybe its because I sit in dark room with headphones set to "fucking kill me loud" Very Happy

I actually didn't know that, thanks. Played some Dark Souls 2 in the past, but didn't finish it. Looks like I will finish this one.

And this... fuckin' hilarious. Laughing

For example i wanted to redo the Abyss Watchers fight to farm some souls. As the fight is very easy with another person and gives 15k souls.
But i never got summoned after redoing my sigil for ~10min.

You can. I just did. Very Happy It's little tricky.

After you are done with boos. Go outside the boss room, place your sign and just wait for 5-10 minutes. You'll be summoned and can defeat boss again.

If you place sign and move inside boss room (or anywhere ahead of boss fight), the sign will be removed. So, just wait near your sign outside boss fight. Smile

Finished it (best ending I assume, considering the tons of things you had to do Laughing )

28 hours 28 minutes according to the gameclock. Smile

A great game. All the references to DS1 are great, some of the locations are simply breathtaking.

The game is undoubtedly easier than DS1 or DS2 though. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it is. Thankfully no more cheap kill locations like in DS1 (Blightdown with the toxic darts that drained your health really fast) or DS2 (Blackgulch with toxic statues).

In the beginning it's significantly harder when you start as deprived though Very Happy Though I have to admit that the "better" weapons rarely need more than 4 hits to kill even tougher regulars. I really like the new fighting system Smile

Yea i just tried it again. Got summoned after 5 or more minutes finally this time. Host was laggy though, and the Abyss Watchers were just gliding on the ground too. Didn't even damage me or the host that way it seems. Laughing
That high souls reward was only the first time though (15k). This time it was only 5k.

You need to keep going farther in the level, eventually you'll find a way back down to open the door from the other side.

Kindled/Ember = Your armor is glimmering and you are able to summon other players. You can also get invaded.

If you die, you are unkindled again. Can't summon other players, won't get invaded but can still offer your help to others.

Can't decide though if i keep running with the Butcher Knife, or switch to the mainstreamed Dark Sword. Embarassed

+1,
for me its still one of the most atmospheric and creepy levels in gaming, only challenged

What can I say. I killed every boss (optional ones too), got the best ending. Completed the game at level 99 ( I could level to 100 after killing the final boss)

It's an elevator on the left as you make your way to Pontiff from sewers to the dogs infested area. If you take that elevator it will lead you to that door.

Just finished it as well. Took me 60h and ended up at level 102. Yeah, I like to take my time.
Not sure if it's easier than DS and DS 2 or if I'm just really used to Souls games (possibly both) but the most I ever died to a single boss was 3 times and a lot of them I beat on the first try.

Seen all the endings and beat every optional boss and area.
What an amazing game.

If you play DS1 now you'd beat most bosses on first try, guaranteed Very Happy So i wouldn't really say that 3rd is much easier game..
The toughest Souls bosses are usually in the DLCs Laughing

For your first question, look here:
http://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Halberds
http://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Spears

TL;DR: No, the best scaling for those pokers is D-scaling.
That's without upgrading them to +10 and infusing with them with Heavy-enchantment.

Pure magic i can't say for sure, but i would say: NO.

Take into consideration that many of the good scaling weapons go from D to B or C to A after being infused with a particular element and reinforced.

Sadly, that wiki still hasn't filled the tables for many weapons where you could check that.
