think thats the real reason they delayed it, even though dice can handle the frostbite engine way better now they need to do heavy optimization. saw the ps4 beta version -> ugly framedrops (and looks not nearly as good as on pc)
this was one of my more looked-forward to games... and it does look pretty nice and the gameplay looks similar to the first (that is to say, shitloads of fun), but if its a crummy port, thats so disappointing.
I guess it all depends on exactly what changes with Ultra vs V.High/High. If it's just a case of tesellation factor going from 16 to 256, something you'll never notice during gameplay but what cripples framerate regardless (cough cough nVidia...) then turning settings down won't be so bad. Hell, just look at Quantum Broke; settings above Medium don't *noticeably* improve the visuals in any significant way, yet hit FPS for 10+.

It's Frostbite, so High to Ultra does indeed increase sample counts, particle counts and so on (not tessellation though ). But at the same time, it _is_ Frostbite and DICE: settings for all the things. Can just mix 'n match settings.
The difference is pretty minimal in actual gameplay, it's not like you'll suddenly get much lower quality textures and think "OMG THIS LOOKS SHIT". No, the difference will be in details. They're certainly visible though (unlike in Crysis 3 for example). Easiest to spot are shadows; on Ultra they're generally a bit more defined (depending on the type of light and angle) and probably the biggest factor in this one. Particle counts are also pretty obvious of course.
That's based on BF4 at least and in that one especially on lower end cards it was the difference between 40-45 FPS or 55-60 FPS
will check it when the download is finished (2-3 hours, grr). cant imagine it runs that bad on a 770 like civ01 said. bf4 runs very fine with almost maxed settings on my rig (xeon though, not some lame ass i5 without ht )
