Also I love the Star Citizen cult following, Chris Roberts eye mudding promises and delivering little updates over the years and people still looking to it and defending it like it's second cumming of space Jesus.
When there are guys like Strangely Interactive a small indie team, who are able to do this
Where you have ground combat, space combat, capital ship combat, jet fighter, boarding capital ships etc.
And like it's atleast 50% of what Chris promised and 200% more than he has done with his fucking $120 mln in the past couple of years.
I heard that the Angels Fall First is not the best game around but that's not the point. The point is that a small indie studio without a fucking AAA budget can get shit done while Chris Roberts only wipes his dick in 100 dollar bills in his time.
"Angels Fall First: Planetstorm is an online multiplayer total conversion mod of Epic Games' first-person shooter Unreal Tournament 3"
There is your answer.
Honestly I wouldn't suggest commenting on game development if you don't understand what it is and how it works.
The only problem with Star Citizen is the insane scope and detail they have, any other company would have cut and modified most of it to speed up development.

Haha.
Even Chris Roberts in quoted here video said they won't deliver everything on release. And yet they release new concept art to buy for $140 now because that is apparently the priority.

The priority for them is to make money which is likely just going to make them increase the scope.
The important thing here is I'm not going to say Star Citizen has the wrong idea about development because all i can think about is games like Elite Dangerous who released a really great game initially and then sat on their hands and never finished it.
I'm definitely, absolutely NOT defending Braben & Co, but at least there are tens of thousands of people playing Elite, and a lot are even having fun with it.
It's 100% impossible to have any fun with SC - except picking it to pieces. And Elite didn't cost $110mil to bring out.
So my comment is factually correct. A tech demo is not 'something' - it is 'nothing'.

Ah yes, thought you were suporting Mr Starshitizen with that short reply you made with no quote on the matter. No worries, you are correct that elite D is a much better to bother with development right now.
Still need to do my robigo runs, but the conda is taking all my money at this time.

Have you even played Elite Dangerous?
I own it and its more like a tech demo.
Imagine a computed generated map where you have computer generated quests where you have to kill boars all over the computer generated map.
They have a game engine, graphics and ship combat, anything else is basically a 5 minute job.
If you weren't trolling you would probably realise that Star Citizen right now already has more content then Elite Dangerous once you removed the computer generated content.
Now I will be clear that I own and have played Star Citizen and I wouldn't call it playable or enjoyable right now, but you would have to be pretty stupid to say that Elite Dangerous is even 10% of what star citizen is becoming.
And I have 80+ hours on Elite Dangerous just so you know.

80+ hours sure is a lot of time to put into such a simple tech demo.
And I love how you still think that Star Citizen will ever get released with even 10% of what was promised. They should have just HIRED Derek Smart and called it Battlecruiser 4K AD.

This isn't the place for a reasonable discussion of Star Citizen, so I recommend you take it somewhere else.
People are seriously into hating it around here - and there's almost no insight behind it. No rational or intelligent underpinning - it's just pure hatred based on imaginary scam theories or pretending all these established developers suddenly became completely incompetent when they joined CIG.
Game is big and development is open - making it a very easy target. It's like a board meeting with thousands of ignorant entitled gamers sitting around the table bitching about every single decision they're making. I mean, seriously, one of the primary complaints is that it's not running very well.
Really? A game targeting high-end hardware is not running well during ALPHA testing? That's a shock

anyway, that was uncalled for, I was simply making the point that bringing in gameplay 'experience' for this particular argument is very strawman - the ultimate point is that many people have paid for and received Elite Dangerous, and while content is certainly lacking, the game still exists, there is a lot of things that can be done, and the most important point - people playing it tend to be enjoying it.
Star Citizen currently consists of a star system. One star system. With I think, 2 planets, 3 or 4 space stations (uninhabited), a couple of repair stations, a number of comm towers and a 'hub' where you can look in some stores and gaze at the things you can't actually buy yet.
Oh, and a shooty demo which has been around since the first release of Arena Commander, way back.
There are 4.5 missions you can take part in (the .5 is a hacking mission that doesn't actually work), no mining, no exploration, no trading. You can shoot a few pirates.
Elite Dangerous contains 400 billion star systems. It has bulletin boards on most landable zones such as planets and space stations. They contain missions for various types - combat, exploration and delivery. There is a substantial trading system in place (at the moment you personally can't do anything with the goods - but the Engineers update coming very soon should start to make use of this).
There are financial and personal rewards for exploring the galaxy. There has been an storyline regarding alien barnacles thats been ongoing (although that seems to have stalled - but probably due to the delay in releasing the next update).
Thargoids will be coming. (quicker than anything is coming is Star Citizen)
Ships can be upgraded with various weapons and addons. You can buy new ships ingame and fly them (for ingame money - not real money 'pledges')
Game performance is solid (except for planets, they're not exactly 60fps without a very good rig), graphics are very good indeed (not as good in terms of detail as Star Citizen - but then that's 15-30fps max anyway)
Players have already formed groups within the game - the Fuel Rats are the most notable, offering a very well run service to pilots stranded in space with no fuel. Explorer grounds, mercenary groups... there are a lot out there.
Much like Eve, there is a lot of game created by players, but there are also community goals to do, with rewards at the end of it.
I think, comparing the two games, it's clear which has the most 'content'.

Ankh - that is definitely coming, they're just taking time doing it. The game will be a hell of a lot better in maybe 2-3 years from now - and will have a playerbase that SC could only dream of.

Like most people you get addicted to grinding for better ships thinking the game will get better... it doesn't.
The only way to have fun in this game is combat and if you do this you will make no money.

Not sure if that's sad or amusing - or both
There was a time when hating it made sense as there was no proof the developers and the engine had what it takes to pull it off, thats already been proven...
Also my 290x runs the game really well, people here must have some pretty shitty cards to be playing it worse then me.

80 Hours is a good thing, I learnt it was a bad game and quit before I wasted anymore time.
It seems like you like to waste your time on bad games so at least now I know your opinion isn't valid.

You are proving my exact point, you don't understand anything.
Elite Dangerous star systems are computer generated, its a 5 minute job, why is this valuable to you? There is nothing special about any of the star systems, there is no benefit to exploring as there are no players anywhere.
The missions are computer generated just like all the other things you mentioned, they are all pointless missions that are a complete grind. There is no challenge.
And performance? Elite Dangerous as a game has very little processing to do as there just isn't much there, Star Citizen runs the Crysis engine and has actual physics and proper lighting systems to calculate. The fact that you compare them shows you don't understand.
If you weren't trolling you would probably realise that Star Citizen right now already has more content then Elite Dangerous once you removed the computer generated content.
It's like...fuck...who was it...used to have a well known troll here once upon a time who used to pull shit out of his ass like this.
There was a time when hating it made sense as there was no proof the developers and the engine had what it takes to pull it off, thats already been proven...
It makes sense to hate a game because it's not finished and there's no "proof" in the earlier stages of development?
I can't agree, but whatever.
Anyway, as I said - there's no reason to try and convince people who don't want to be convinced. This is one of those games that feels good to hate if you're a petty person. It's a big and easy target - and since development is open, all their decisions are visible and ripe for criticism - whether you understand them or not.
The Hump has quite a few grumpy whiners bitching about everything and nothing - and Star Citizen is a prime target. That's just how it's going to be until it's either released or cancelled.
You are proving my exact point, you don't understand anything.

So, you're saying for a game to be good, it must have loads of players wherever you look? Sorry but both SC and Elite don't work like that. They are primarily space sims - not dogfighting arcade games.
You really think that every single mission in SC will be hand placed? You're more naive than you already look.
And performance? Physics? It seems you're being deliberately thick, or just pushing your trolling skill beyond your already quite limited capacity. Elite's physics engine is very well done. You have a lot more going on than SC's pathetic attempt at 'Arcade space'. Gravity wells? Non existent. Mass inhibiting? Nope, not in SC (yet).
CryEngine is a great engine. For FPS. It is NOT a great engine for complex simulation games, or even less complex games such as SC. The trouble with SC is that Roberts wanted to use what was perceived to be the 'Best' looking engine. It certainly isn't the most flexible - it's been noted that CryEngine (not the Crysis Engine), is anything but flexible. It might look good, but that's fairly pointless if performance isn't 60fps across the majority of mid/high spec PC's. 30fps is not acceptable, ever. No matter what people would like to think.
And Elite has an excellent lighting system, every light source casts correct shadowing, and the ambient occlusion looks superb - especially in space stations.
All in all, I have no real interest in continuing this 'discussion' because you seem to think that my knowledge is somehow inferior to yours, even though I have factually dismissed every poorly thought out argument you've spouted. SC should be the best space game ever made. Instead it is and will be a poorly written mess of technical ideas that won't ever gel into a proper game. Even after another 10 years of development.
Oh yeah and you're just a basic liar. My own system should run SC at 60fps with no problems on the absolute lowest settings. It doesn't, and neither does yours. And I am talking about the Persistent Universe, not the other modes - they are no indication of the real game and they absolutely do not count.
Come back when you can prove via youtube that you can run the PU at 60fps on lowest settings. I'll even let you use 720p.

Persistent Universe is easier on frame rates. Due to space pretty much being fuck all to render. So the fps issues do come down to other modes/zone issues. Eve is the same where you can enjoy space as much as you wish but if you get into a 1000 ship fight in a system/node it is a different story.
I might be in theory, but Arena Commander is running very well - still not as good as it should, but it does hit 60fps on occasion. Personally I think the network code is broken - that and too many detailed objects make a difference too.

yeah it started as a mod. Now it is standalone. But so fucking what? Is it supposed to be easier for them since they started with an already existing engine? Like .. dunno, Star Citizen and Crytek?
Guise, don't be mean! Cryengine was/is still in development. Tesselated hidden water mysteriously appearing in levels was a huge problem! And... it still is, apparently!
