How about trying a real multiplayer game, like Mount and Blade, where you can block, feint and do stuff that actually resembles swordplay, instead of this consolish wannabe where you wave in the air, hoping that lag will carry your target into the path of your blows?

The bit i played from M&B multiplayer back then felt very clunky. The now very dated graphics don't help either.

@Bob Barnsen
I don't wanna hear anything about nerfs and shit... These calls for "action" never end well...Never.
Other weapons\armor\poise need a buff..same as magic( homing capabilities, casting time, scaling etc)

You must be really slow, Bob (ru one of them Havel boys?) or maybe didn't pay attention\was fighting someone else at the same time. All magic can be easily dodged and u don't even have to roll like crazy as in case of fighting r1 spammers.Casting times are atrocious even with the ring and high dex and spells fly so slooow.. Once the gap is closed you are fucked and u don't have any fast casting spells to give u some room for retreating back and trying to prepare another spell
I admit there are some rare talents who mastered the way of aiming without actually having a lock on but it's rare and it still requires lots of luck to hit a target this way... I wish they made a crosshair settings in options.
The dark sword is imba but I'd prefer them buffing other weaposn and altering most weapon arts to make them actually vital for a fight instead of r1 spamming.

Yeah. That is if they don't have Iron Flesh(pyromancy) buff active

Finished it.
Overall I liked the journey more than the ending.
Actually, My fav area of the game is starting High Wall of Lothric. Just looked amazing and had nice variety to it.
The game felt better than ds2 but I feel like they overcomplicated the infusion system too much. I was using heavy dark sword +10 at the end there. Also had lighting ultra lothric greatsword +10 for those enemies who were weak to lighting.
Anyway. Last two bosses spoiler and impressions:
Spoiler: |
The fucking cripple brothers were god damn terrible. Just a terrible unfair boss. I hate teleporting never ending stamina bosses. It was the worst boss in any souls game.
And the first kiln endgame boss is not much better. Just god damn abomination... 2 phases?! And 1 hit air combos? That's just overkill just for sake of "being dark souls game"
First game was never this unfair.
|
So yeah. I think the game is absurdly and unfairly difficult. Especially end bosses. It's just "best of dark souls twisted to the overdrive"
Still. A solid 35hours experience 7,5/10 but will not replay. Just as ds2. Will probably again replay ds1 some day. Like for the 5th time.
Shame we never had deamon souls and bloodborne on pc. WOnder how these compare.

Anyone else got the best ending (where you become the boss of bosses) by pure chance?

I think I've reached the fancy Dancer too soon (~18 hours or so), and with an abysmal shield nonetheless, the situation is requiring more lube than I had anticipated.
It's time to go and see if I can become a worthy warrior by scavenging past levels, something tells me that I missed a shitload of goodies, or entire areas even (It's tempting me, but I shall resist the temptation to use the wiki spell)

Many people talk about 1-hit-kill bosses, but that rarely happened to me. Do you guys not level Vigor? Or don't smash buttons to "struggle" during grabs?

If you're refering to doing Anri's quest, then yes - i did. It happened because i like to talk to all the NPCs, and throughly searched each area. The whole thing took me about 65 hours, but i got almost everything - after checking the wiki i missed only Creighton's armor, and one NPC invasion in Irithyl. Also Greirat died on his second run, mostly because i was impatient and explored too far before killing the area boss (and onion bro left and didn't save him). As far as bosses go, the Abyss Watcher second phase was my bane, and that Sulyvahn fucker. And the giant crabs can go eff themselves.

I hate and love this game at the same time.
The combat, world, atmosphere, mystery, how everything is shrouded and slowly unveils itself, the graphics... love them all! That's how a game should be made, it's just great!
But the controls and camera for PC...
I still can't kick when I want and I never managed to do a jumping attack. It just doesn't work here. Something must be screwed up in the control scheme, as I rebinded some keys.

I can't play with controller (have a 360 one that my junior uses for his Ubi Rayman games).
I can kick 80% of the time. But when it doesn't work I get pissed. Also, I lose HP when, in combat, I kick instead of hitting, as kicking in some cases is useless, opens attack opportunities for mobs or takes precious STA that I manage like a maniac.
Right-mouse and slow push forward doesn't do that attack-jump, no matter how I combine and time them. Also, resetting to defaults the controls does nothing, as the keys remain as I rebinded them.
So the feeling is that I am playing the game a bit crippled, unable to command my character fully. Good thing that whatever I can't do (or can't do properly) is not that important, eh. Oh, btw, can't stop the roll after jumping either. Good thing is not important... yet... Is it...?
