1) You need two different sources to confirm something. That's a single game.
2) There's a game called Doom that worked better on AMD than Nvidia in OpenGL during beta.
That's why I would like a different analysis showing why Doom now suffers on AMD.
The serious answer is AMD has a long history of bad OpenGL drivers and realistically it's not likely they started spending serious $$$ to fix them once Vulkan was getting formed for the maybe 1 big game (see: Doom) that would use the OpenGL spec in the next few years.
Regarding the beta, that ran on lower (eg medium) settings. How does the final game ran on medium settings on AMD hardware? Worse than the beta? (I don't think so?)

I agree that they probably don't care about OpenGL anymore. My first guess was that poor performance might be the result of AMD putting all of their eggs into a single basket: Vulkan.
Still, I'd like to see what the source of the issue is. If it's shadows like people claim. I heard someone, somewhere else, say that AMD had issues with shadows in Doom 3.
If someone wants to compare performance at medium settings:
I stood in the very first room of the game, with my settings using the Medium preset. The only change was using the highest level of performance metrics. I had a FPS of 62 (not limited).
Here's where I stood and the performance:

(The High preset with no metrics gave me a similar result, around 58fps or so I think, little to no changes)
If someone has a 970 and feels like testing, you should get a similar result. If someone has a 960, it could also be interesting to see. The 960 should be weaker, but beats the 390 in Doom benchmarks. Just use the Medium preset and stand in that corner.
Edit: My FPS is at stock clocks, by the way. For the sake of comparison.
After about 19 hours, I've finally finished 100% completion... and absofuckinglutely loved every second of it This was pure Doom through and through, and if it wasn't for the terrible engine crippling my enjoyment 50% of the time, I'd say this was an easy 9/10, but as it is, for now until id fix their shit, it's a solid 8 Fast paced, gory, enormous maps, loads of monsters, great exploration.
Compared to the abysmal multiplayer element, the campaign is top notch!
Spoiler:
Another friggin' cliffhanger though, just like RAGE. Nice going id... *applause*
Oh and deleting the profile.bin/DOOMconfig.cfg for fixing the framerate only works per level, and you have to keep quitting to delete and re-load, it's arduous as fuck --- not to mention a pretty horrible side effect of losing your collectibles/classic maps when you delete profile.bin I finished the game and wanted to run through the classic maps but saw the only ones unlocked were the final two I'd acquired *after* the last time I deleted profile.bin.

It's a shame all their DLC plans are only for multiplayer. Since the SP was so well received maybe they'll decide to do an expansion like Resurrection of Evil.
Hm... How do I fix the "devolper tools" error? I am not running teamviewe and I still getting the message that I can't play MP becuase of the "tools " and also achivemnts are disable... in SP.
I wouldn't mind if they added a quicksave feature because after 15 minutes of searching for secrets and dying in lava because I slipped after jumping is no fucking fun.

That's been a problem for a lot of people even without using "GOD" in the console command to toggle godmode as that should be the only cvar that will change the game over to developer (DEV) mode but for some reason it affects other people too.
You have to delete your existing save data as far as I'm aware and at worst even the entire profile file from "C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM\base" that's the profile.bin file in the .\savegame\profile\ subfolder there although I'd first try moving it as to have a backup ready in case it might be possible to add it back while the game is open and have it somehow not save the dev-mode flag to it.
It's supposed to also work to just toggle god-mode off via the console and start a new game and it should toggle off the developer mode but it doesn't seem to work for a lot of people and I don't know if you can use the same save slot and keep other unlocks*
(*In developer mode completed maps - so you can resume from something else than the first level. - and map completion - stuff found in a map. - does save but it won't unlock classic maps and the toy figurine model viewer collectibles nor it will save any "gameplay" category settings that you've changed in the options menu for some reason.)

Uh, yeah, no they don't. Why lie? The levels are all named properly. This kind of thing makes me think he only played the first level, which has an achievement unlock when you beat it called "E1M1", but the game never refers to E anything, let alone M anything, after that. It doesn't even say ExMx on the CLASSIC MAPS you unlock, those are - just like the main game - referred to by title, such as "House of Pain"

Probably. At one point he says it's unfortunate games like CoD have become super-advanced ( ) and can no longer be played by casual players ( ), but on the other hand Doom is too simplistic ( ) so he likely started Doom on easy, pew-pewed some enemies without any difficulty and quit.

Christ.. I guess the glory kills weren't enough for him.. He needs to crouch behind a wall and magically regenerate, that probably would've made the game less 'dumb'
This game was pure fast and fun action! It's great to have shooter similar to the classics back then again.
I guess after that ending they will (hopefully) do an expansion pack later on.
I only have two gripes:
- For some reason the game stuttered for me today, even with constant 60fps.
- While glory kills were executed very fast and didn't really get old, it sucked that if you decided to not glory kill an enemy, the damage needed to kill him was nearly as much as to put him in that state at first. Especially with the big enemies you were practically forced to glory kill them.
Still, 8.8/10 from me.
Next Quake 5 please.
PS: Special thanks to Karmeck, who shared the game to me!

Paul Thurrdurr is a known idiot. He wasn't like that ~15 years ago, but he changed much for the worse.
Some other studio should revive Quake, let MachineGames make Wolfenstein games and id Doom games, for now at least.
I also realized why Snapmap is there in the first place or why it is all there is. Due to megatextures it's extremely difficult for hobbyists to produce content. It's the reason Rage's modding tools haven't found and won't find any practical use. With Snapmap at least some content (infinitely more than Rage's anyway) will be made, but it doesn't really lift (m)any of the restrictions that come with megatextures as much as allow you to build (or rather restructure the already existing) content that takes them into account.

A recent and thus better example is the Wolfenstein: The Old Blood standalone so there's hope.

The more I play the more I dislike that combat scheme where enemy placement is non-existent because thay all spawn in some open area in which all doors magically close at once till you clear every mob in that location stuff when you run through the map and clear the enemies as you go are the best moment, whole game should be made that way with ocassional "kill room/areas". Anyway its a very solid revival of doom franchise, hell locations look fucking awesome, theres tons of small stuff which they really didnt have to add but they did. Doom 3 simply had an identity crysis, this one is easily 8+.
Anyway - is there any 100% save file or other way to unlock all the secret levels/models? I dont have enough free time to check every map for 100% classic level discovery, I might watch it on YT but whats the point, if theres 100% save file I might as well replace my save after beating the game just to check the classic levels.

We don't know that.
The footage could be anything. We just see a girl taunting and soldiers running. In no way it would be call of duty.
It would probably be something close to TNO

Doom 4 Was Cancelled for Feeling Too Much Like Call of Duty
“We weren’t happy with the game that was being made. We decided that it wasn’t DOOM enough and needed to be thrown out and started over. . . . You [could] probably close your eyes and imagine a ‘Call of Doom’ or a ‘BattleDoom’ game, where it starts to feel way too much like: ‘Wait, this doesn’t feel like DOOM, it feels like we’re playing some other franchise with a DOOM skin on it.'”
AMD has a bit of a overhead and usage issue with even the newer OpenGL revisions and id Software maintains that the 4.3 for AMD + extensions from 4.4 and 4.5 is identical to Nvidia using 4.5 natively ( https://twitter.com/axelgneiting/status/731958687472877569 ) so it's probably mostly a driver issue with AMD also having acknowledged the performance problem with the very high drop in framerate when using the higher shadow quality settings with a new driver being possibly released this week.
(I get around a 40 - 50% drop from Ultra to Nightmare for example although Nightmare as in the quality preset and not difficulty - for shadows and texture cache, it's not a full preset for every setting. - anyway it does have a 5 GB VRAM requirement to enable without using console commands although it's more for stability as seen with both AMD and Nvidia GPU's where the game will randomly just crash by silently shutting down and booting you back to the desktop which is probably RAM / VRAM usage related with possibly a memory leak over longer playtime periods but I haven't monitored RAM or VRAM usage myself so I could be wrong.)
Assuming there's no strange things going on with their Vulkan implementation that should definitively fix things while also improving performance even further for Nvidia even if they already have a well maintained OpenGL driver implementation.
EDIT: No idea how Nvidia compatibility and performance is with Vulkan but driver wise they are generally faster at supporting newer Vulkan runtimes (Although much of that is just fixes for developers from what little I can understand of the Github wiki info on the Vulkan API.) but going by the demo of Vulkan on a GTX 1080 or what it'll be called running around 100 - 150 frames per second it seems good.
(Although if you compare in-game yourself to what they show in the video it's clearly been sped up unless it still does that thing with framerate above 60 accelerating the game speed and as it drops below it steadily slows down until it's running in slow-mo when it drops below 30.)

John Carmack's single greatest contribution to gaming since idtech 4 (in 2004) is personally shitcanning Call of Doom. Thank you John Carmack!
