Is a movie which is shown in 3D Dolby cinema, recorded with that tech in mind? I want to see a movie in Dolby cinema once, but I don't know whether a movie needs be recorded in that format or something.

Unlike the majority of 3D movies, it's shot with 3D cameras but there's no such thing as "recorded with 3D dolby cinema in mind" and Singer is fairly conservative with 3D anyway.

I thought they needed to record the sound specifically for Dolby cinema, so the specific sound setup can work correctly. Maybe I completely misunderstood what the tech is about.

3D.. sound.. two different things.

The "latest" Dolby has to offer sound-wise is Dolby Atmos in case you meant that. Yes, the Atmos soundtrack will only play in an Atmos-supporting theater.

There's Dolby Atmos and there's Dolby Cinema (almost always 3D). I'll just go and see what it's all about.

I went to see it in Dolby Cinema, great experience. As for the movie, it was also a great experience. It is more of the same, sometimes it's a CGI clusterfuck, the ending was "unleash awesome power -> win" and the movie is predictable, but the bad is mostly outweighed by the good and the awesome. The cast was good, the young gen is a good fit. Even though Apocalypse didn't do much more than amplify powers and do some nice tricks, he was still done very nicely. He did feel like a god and he wasn't a cliche madman. I didn't like the gathering of the 'four horsemen' though, it was very brief and gimmicky. Quicksilver scene was awesome, CGI was great, battles were good, drama was forced and OK.

X2 is better in almost every way, First Class is the better movie, so I'd rate this third in the series. 8/10

They really need to work on the writing for a next movie though. First Class is like Shawshank Redemption compared to this one. DofP and Apocalypse had pretty much the same writing team according to IMDB, and it shows. If you don't mind a spectacle with mutants and some background story (i.e. noise), it's very nice movie. I stopped expecting a proper story from these Marvel movies a looooong time ago.

As long as it's better than the wolverine crap or X3 and X1, my body is ready! I enjoyed DOFP when I re-watched it just recently.. The X-Men Marvel movies are a whole different league than the boring iron mans and averagers...

whoever had the final word in the edit of this movie, needs to walk naked into the desert with no water, this movie needs a 4 hour directors cut badly, and that still cant fix the horrible bad guys ... too much story plots and shit bad guy ...

Fresh from cinema

+Wolverine finally gets some justice
+Quicksilver
+First half of the movie
+Casandric scene about how third parts are always crap

-Apocalypse is bland as fuck and goes into pantheon of typical Marvel big bads
-CG fucking I, seriously second half of the movie had some 90's star trek quality special effects and worst green/blue screen I have seen in a loooong time
-Magneto all over again
-Magneto's part of the story in Poland especially if you are a Pole and have to sit through the fucking polglish
-This fucking guy ->
-Second half of the movie

5/10

My list
First Class > X-Men 2 > X-Men 1 > Days of Future Past > ... > Apocalypse > X-Men 3

I love all the comics, grew up on them, reading marvel/dc/image/dark horse and so on, still remember some writers/artists names, watched all previous xmen movies, old 90s cartoon and so on.

Thats for introduction, and about the movie:

- cliche and medicore as fuck, literally, it just flows by the book of every comic movie - bad guy awakens (all intro to apocalypse character was actually best and most interesting part of the movie despite little to no action scenes), he gathers his forces, good men gather theirs, they fight, good win, end, no twists, no suprises, no tension
- worst CGI in major hollywood movie in a looooong time (just checked review on imdb and some kid talks about oscar for CGI, oh boy)
- ridiculous, unnecessary, shitty made logan scene just for weapon x movie (which will suck, and sadly all there is to make it good just copy the comics 1 to 1, page by page, it would be fucking amazing, along with 3rd person narration and barry windson style (read it folks), obviously it wont happen)
- im fed up with xavier/magneto bromance, all that glassy eyes and shittalk, cmon, enough is enough

definitely wasnt worth the price ticket and its too long to sit in cinema, just watch a bd rip when it comes out, youre not loosing anything.

I haven't watched the movie but there's no Weapon X movie planned nor is the Hugh Jackman sticking around after the upcoming Wolverine 3. If Wolverine appears as Weapon X in this movie it's simply because it pays respect to the "cyclical" timeline (since what they are doing is pseudo-prequels) and X2 / Origins.

and? weapon x/wolverine, who cares what will they call it. logan as already been refered as weapon x, so the tilte might well be a wolverine: weapon x lol.

either way, looking and jackman making angryfaces in front of camera, with that cartoony violence (which they tried so hard to portray as uber hardcore) and somehow shitty looking claws just made me laugh, they should end all that xmen/wolverine movies when its at least watchable, and that 2.5h fest was already boring, especially in cinema, skip it, wait for BD.

I'll explain. In the X-movies' timeline, "Weapon X movie" means a movie about the creation or first missions of Weapon X, because we had Origins and that was being described as the "Weapon X movie", therefore saying "Weapon X movie" implies a new take on Origins.

Such a thing is not being planned.

Wolverine 3 takes place in the future, probably after the 2023 future we saw in DoFP and is inspired by the Old Man Logan storyline, so it's far removed by 40+ years from whatever they showed in this movie that takes place in the 80s.

Who the fuck cares. You know that "weapon x" is basically another name of wolverine/logan/james/whatever. Glad tho that you "explained" what was "implied"
