LegendOfTotalWar just started his Empire series. He's much better than that SurrealBeliefs guy I posted earlier.

Not cheap exactly, but GamesPlanet had it for 30 quid over the weekend. It has now gone up to £33.

Cool empire vid.

This piece of shit unlocks tomorrow right?

CA are doing a stream shortly where they are giving away keys. Might be a chance for some of you lot to score a freebie.

It's merely the uncracked version, we need to have a lot of patience for the yarr release, as per usual. Smile

At this rate, I'll probably grab it during some future Gabesales, I love Total War but I have no problem waiting this time around. Razz *orcs grunting*

Some people can't even start the game; for some people the multiplayer crashes the game, for some people vsync doesn't work, for some people steam overlay crashes the game, NVIDIA couldn't release a game ready driver in time because of issues with Total War: Warhammer - so everything seems to be in order Day 1. Very Happy

I did look through the few mods that were already available, and it looked promising, they for exampel have one that shrinks the Legendary Lords down to normal sized troops - which if I was playing, I'd instantly apply.

Generic answer as always:

Hi Guys,

We're looking into any issues that are popping up as quickly as we can.

Please make sure you;

-Update your drivers
-Turning off steam overlays has helped some.
-Try in offline mode.
- If you launch in windowed mode while online that may fix the issue.
- Verify your steam cache

If you are still experiencing issues, please post in the official support which is a direct line to the support team.

I swear this company is legendary for not being able to release a single game in a polished state Day 1, even after postponing release.

There are also reports of loading in okay into main menu, but only skirmish works, as the Loading Screens in the main campaign mode causes CTD.

Oh, and let's not forget already complaints about passive AI. Very Happy ...

But let's be nice, smart AI is rarely if ever seen in video games, and these games are very easily broken and exploited.

Forum advice for passive AI whenever shot at using archers; "Don't use archers" Very Happy ...

"The ai doesn't seem to even recognize that the tower is destroyed and that there is no reason to be standing where it stands at all."

"Looks like it still suffers from the occasional suiciding general or simply twiddling thumbs in front of ranged units.

I'd hoped they would have ironed out such kinks by now, but at the end of the day I'm confident I'll still enjoy the game."

I'm confident I will enjoy it too, but what you describe is unforgivable in a supposedly finished product. As I said a few pages back, considering the extortionate asking price and the obvious flaws, this deserves to be pirated until they patch it to a acceptable degree.

Might be different on a proper disk (SSD) but it takes a small forever for the game to go from start up to fully loaded main menu screen, minutes actually as it does well I don't really know what the fuck it does but Shogun 2 and the later games all had that same issue.
(Auto detecting settings, authenticating and whatever the hell else might take such time.)

Once it's done that initial start though future boot-ups will be much quicker (Again, as with Shogun 2 and the others that followed after.) but yeah you might want to go and do something else while the game does that first initialization. Razz

Granted a Day 1 or Week 1 patch will probably solve stuff like the vsync issues forcing people to play in a window, but come on, wtf are these issues even there on Day 1 on such a large scale.

AI will be tougher to fix. Unit balances they'll be able to tweak, and I'm sure mods will do a job there as well.

This is actually caused by some authentification server being hammered. Start the game in offline mode and you'll see. Should fire up / load fast and without problems. CA is already looking into it.

Apparently there is no native way to scale the UI for higher resolutions:

Likey so far. Playing as the empire. Had to turn off the steam overlay and AMD Gaming evolved bullshit app. Once I did that, game loads up quickly and no crashes.

http://steamcommunity.com/games/364360/announcements/detail/853808969125280385

Quote:

We’ve had tens of thousands of people playing already, but we know some players had some early-doors issues when the game went live, due in part to a bit of unexpected server load and the way the game handles that. This was causing the game to hang too long on start-up and the multiplayer server list to become unresponsive.

We’ve just updated the Steam build with a hotfix to solve these issues, so we recommend you save your game, quit to desktop, and restart Steam to start the hotfix download. Check the entry for Total War: WARHAMMER in your Steam Library upon restarting – you should see a super-quick download happening (it’s only around 100Mb!). If this doesn’t happen of its own accord, you can force the download by right-clicking Total War: WARHAMMER in your Steam Library, and click properties->Local Files->Verify integrity of game cache.

Once you’ve got the hotfix, and if you want to play multiplayer, any games you see listed in red are being hosted by people who don’t yet have the hotfix, and you’ll be unable to join them. Look for listings with black text.

Thanks for bearing with us – and if you read this and haven’t yet fired up the game, you can ignore it all!

Happy WAAAGH! day,

-CA
