Best thing to do is side step the weapon, have a hand up to slide in behind his arm up to the elbow and then do whatever, so your outta strikig distance you know. never move backward...always move to the side with your hands up guarding and once your inside your opponents gate, you fuck him up as he's open everywhere. |

your completly right .dont carry it if you are afraid to use it, thats my opinion.
you dont have to aim at his heart or head, just his legs, hell have enough pain, try to hit him on the shins, hahahaha |

what about aiming for the kneecap, i can't imagine the pain. I once thought about buying a pellet gun but then I heard it wasn't legal to carry one in public places, so that put me off.

Maybe thats the point? I guess it's all about being practical in a self-defense situation, which most martial arts are not.
Now of course boxing can teach you how to strike and dodge, but it's rare any street fight will involve a standard striking standoff. Which doesn't make boxing that useful really. |
The system, as I understand it, was designed to use your basic instinctive reaction and hone it into an attack/defense. That way when you need it, the proper move or technique you need will come to you almost as quickly as your basic reaction would. If a move doesn't feel natural, chances are you won't be able to use it effectively unless you've trained for years. That is the beauty of Krav Maga...its designed for people to learn how to effectively defend themselves without years of training. The test of a martial art isn't how flashy it is, its simply how effective it is on your opponent.
This may also explain why you don't hear about much Palestinian/Israeli streetfighting, and you see a lot of Palestinians attacking Israelis from far away with rocks...
