Alright lets start a thread about what games you want to buy but cant afford or whatever the reason is why you have not bought it yet.
Here is my list:
Mirror's Edge Catalyst - I will probably buy it but it's kinda expensive for single player only.
Far Cry Primal - Will buy if it drops down to 15$
Sherlock Holmes Devil's Daughter - Will buy it when it drops a little bit more in price
Savage The Resurrection - Want to buy it but I don't think it's going to be worth it because of too few players
The Forrest - Want to buy it if it drops to 7$
Hide & Holdout - Too expensive, wait till it drops around 7 - 10$
Upcoming games this month I want to buy:
Dead by Daylight - Will buy it if it next Tuesday, hope it gets OK reviews.
Arma 3 Apex - Insta buy on release
Technomancer - I wanna see some reviews first

At least on Steam i want to buy most of my ~260 games from my wishlist.
The price sure is a factor. But the main factor is my growing backlog.
I only buy games nowadays if they are on a very good sale, that probably won't happen again any time soon. Else i just buy them when i'm in the mood for playing it.
OR if it's some new game that i definately want to play at release.
There are several candidates that i probably will buy before or at release. For example the coming Deus Ex or Dishonored 2. But i will wait how the prices for them will be at release and probably also wait for some reviews.
The only game i know for sure i will be buying before release, is only Battlefield 1 so far.

Hearts of Iron IV - I saved up for it, but then I bought a Steam Link with the steamfunds.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Out of my budget for the moment, Bday coming up so maybe then!
Stellaris - Since it's a new IP from Paradox I'm just waiting for content and DLC to make up my mind.
No man's Sky and Technomancer - Both in the same category: I think they are asking too much for what they got.
The Witcher DLC's - Wanted to get them in a package but the discount on GoG's sale wasn't at what I expected.
For the rest of my wishlist on Steam I usually apply this rule: At least a 60% discount before I think on reducing that list.

Same as Berb, if it's on my Steam WL then I want to buy it. 99% of the time I can't afford that, but I do often luck out and manage to snag some stuff. For now it's predominantly;
No Man's Sky. I'm loving how it looks and can't wait to snag it, but the price is way too high for something 99% of us will get bored of long before we finish it.
The Technomancer. Huge Spiders fan, loved Mars WL and Bound by Flame, very fairly priced (in India  ) but still gonna yarr until I can pick it up legit.
Homefront The Revolution. It's getting a lot of flak, but then, so did Homefront 1 and I loved that. Too high priced, will likely buy it from an account seller.
Dragon's Dogma. Again, far too highly priced, hoping for a 75/80% sale in a couple weeks.

+1 for team backlog and team wishlist 
personally I said to myself that i wont be buying AAA anything until I scratch 3 AAA from my backlog (so far I did only Dark Souls 3 and Bisohock with Bioshock 2 in progress).
other than that maybe Dark Souls 3 when both DLCs are out and Doom .. but from what i played of it so far i wasnt really impresed even though everyone else loves it :-/
....from indies i always put something from my WL when price and the game catches my eye.
With Denuvo titles I dont really trust the company and people behind it ... to play legit BAK with unlocked DLCs I even created separate windows partition (bit overkill i guess)
With the rest Denuvo titles maybe with insane sale ... most of the titles kinda interests me , but from what i tried from all of them i was mostly disappointed (efin Mirrors Edge or TW:WH  )
Homefront 2 is a weird one as the idea of urban Far Cry really catches my interest but if anything I will surely wait for DLCs to be done (iirc they plan 2 SP DLCs and 1 larger expansion) before even trying it through sharing methods like i did the rest of D-protected games.
From upcoming games definitely Deus Ex 4 and Dishonered 2.

well theres lots of games id like to play but games im ultra-keen on owning because i think they are or look fantastic and id like to support the developers, are
oxenfree
pillars of eternity (though i suspect there will be a compilation with all the dlc, so ill wait for that)
the descendant
MAYBE stasis (because i think its a great game but ugh.. just dont want to support 720p!)

Far Cry Primal - Will pick it up on sale.
Doom - Too expensive on Steam at the moment. Might go for the PS4 version
Mirror's Edge Catalyst - Fuck EA origin. Going with the PS4 version on this too

(bought Stellaris yesterday, played it 2 minutes. Not that it looks bad - it looks brilliant - but as usual just as im about to start on a new game I get called up on skype by my mates and we end up in other games
