it still is very good, but just compare any random piece of dialogue from s01 till s03 to one of the profound conversations between tyrion, grey worm and missandei.
does the difference not outright stab you in the brain? |
The first 3 seasons were so much more well rounded

Quality! I loved it!
Spoiler: | I knew this one would be the end of Ramsay! He got a fitting comeuppance after a damn good beating from Jon Snow!
That pile of bodies was a bit ridiculous. I know a lot got killed but nobody piled them up and that high too? Or am I the only one that thought so?
Dat arrow in the giants eye! RIP |

It wasn't bad, but predictable and, gosh, so many people are acting like idiots.
Spoiler: | Ramsay provoking Jon was understandable. But why the hell didn't Sansa finally tell them about Littlefinger? FFS, her idiotic secrecy in this regard probably cost many people their lives - if she told them beforehand, instead of making a grand entrance at the end, they could've included Knights of the Vale in their plans. For all her acting tough, in the end she's still a silly goose.
Ramsay's death was fitting and satsifying - not much else to be said about that. Rickon proved himself to be THE most useless Stark on the show
And Drag-on Queen finally got her ships! Good riddance, gosh... |
All in all, it was one of the better episodes this season, but still nowhere near the "nines" of times past.

Nice and fun ep, but two things stuck with me. "Did they take a break to pile the corpses?" and "Jon is a craptacular commander".

Quote: | Tonight’s “Battle of the Bastards” might have been the biggest event of Game of Thrones‘ sixth season, but for many fans it was something they had to read about on Twitter, as HBO’s streaming app HBO Now went down for a sizable number of viewers just as the episode became available to watch. The outage appears to have been caused by overwhelming demand on the app |

And for fuck's sake...
"But... I know him, use that in your advantage!"
"Ok, what's your advice?"
"Don't do what he wants you to, I guess? LOL dunno I'll wait for this mega army to come so we can save your ass. Try to survive bro! " |

Jon is Sansa's half brother, and they 'love each other' because of that, but if I recall correctly they weren't exactly closeknit or friends back at Winterfell. Arya had a better connection with Jon than Sansa at least.
Littlefinger made sure to remind Sansa that he wasn't a 'true' Stark. She felt I guess like she had to try and act like the Lady of Winterfell as the oldest living true heir (she doesn't know about Bran). She also tried to pull a wise-ass thing with Davos about his knowledge of the ways of the North.
Regardless very stupid to not tell Jon that she was a) approached by Littlefinger near the Wall, b) decided to write and call for help. There was no guarantee Littlefinger would come to her aid after she shut him down pretty roughly once before, and pretty much told him to his face she didn't like him nor needed him.
Jon was a complete idiot for riding into Ramsey's trap, forcing his army to abandon their plans and probably made more men die because of his stupidity.

Meh, episode was okay.
Too much asshole bullshit again:
Spoiler: | - The two dickless ironborn kids teleporting to the dragon queen.
- Suddenly huge piles of corpses on the battlefield out of nowhere, yet both armies still had the same amount of soldiers as before.
- The giant barely did anything, especially when they were surrounded.
- Ramsey survived the beat down by Snow and also still looked rather undamaged in his face. |
Good:
Spoiler: | - Ramsey getting eaten alive.
- The first walking/fighting scene with Snow looked very nicely done, with no video cuts. |
Let's see how the finale will do.
