her growing up , learning that her farther killed her mother , taking revenge against Ciro and destroying everything he built and in the end killing him..
I'm kinda disappointed they did it. And making
Spoiler:
Malammore to kill her? it seemed kinda out of character
Fucking Pietro though! I mean..
Spoiler:
comparing death of his murderous cunt-wife to the innocent little girl's death
I'm glad
Spoiler:
he got wasted. The old twat deserved it.
I didn't quite understand the relationship between Ciro and Genny in this season...
Spoiler:
..Ciro killed his mother.. after the scene at the hotel when Genny tried to kill Ciro he was like a Zen monk lol .
I liked it more than the first season. The first half was OK, but then it got much better and the season finale was superb.
8.5/10
SP It is said Stefano Sollima won't be directing season 3\4 but he'll direct "Zero Zero Zero" a tv series based on the latest book written by Saviano
was don Pietro meeting his son Genny at his wife's grave to kill him or set him free?I assumed to kill him but his conversation with Patrizia beforehand didn't make it very clear.
I think that after talking to Patrizia about Genny
Spoiler:
1)Pietro wanted to tell his son he finally accepted him as a self-made man he was and acknowledge that he was wrong
2) Pietro wanted to tell him about Patrizia. His wife and Genny's mother grave was a good place to make amends & say the last goodbye to her.
As for Genny..my guess is Genny thought his farther was going to kill him..Pietro was too insistent on meeting him in person after they had a major argument about business + he was an asshole to his son most of the time, so it didn't help either.. And when the decision was made it seemed only just to send Ciro coz they still had this love-hate relationship and Genny was angered that Pietro had killed Ciro's innocent little daughter, so it could also be a kind of a parting gift to his frenemy.
It would be kinda ironic..I mean if it happened this way. And imho it would perfectly fit Gomorra's setting & story.
I think the way things turned out it's going to be great next season, I mean, can you imagine...
Spoiler:
Patrizia in charge of Scampia/Secondigliano? She's going to be ruthless! And she's played by a really good actress, so I expect great things from that. Then again, she might choose to go back to her siblings and forget about it
About Malammore...
Spoiler:
...being out of character when killing Maria Rita, well, his expression showed he was! But like the loyal soldier he is he was following orders.
Despite Ciro being...
Spoiler:
an immortal asshole I'm glad he's still alive as I still think Marco D'Amore is the best actor in that cast
Finally, about Genny...
Spoiler:
I don't think he got his father killed because of thinking he was going to be killed by him, I think that was his last resort, plus he clearly said to his wife that he wanted to be in charge ad not working for others. That's why he betrayed his father-in-law as well.
In any case, RIP Don Pietro! The boss of all assholes
Anyway, I only hope they don't take as long to get S3 done as they did with S2, otherwise it's going to be a long, painful wait
Took me a while, but I finally binge-watched the second season..what a magnificent, brutal and completely insane sequence of
In every single episode the feel-train inevitably derails, much more than it does in the first season, the sheer quality and decadent authenticity of this show never ceases to amaze me. It deserves to stay up there, in the olympus of the TV, among the all-time greats.
The superb direction, the fantastic acting (seeing the protagonists outside the Gomorra context is always interesting, their voices and facial expressions are so distant from the ones of the characters that they portray in the series), the perfect pacing, the writing, it's such a tense, tragic journey. Even likeable characters are still monsters, there are no filters, though there's always some humanity hidden deep inside...sort of.
I don't know how they'll manage to continue now, after all the events occurred, humongous amount of deaths, or the fact that Sollima won't be directing it, but time will tell I guess. Aggia sta’ senza pensier, ma nunn'è facile!
Spoiler:
I was not expecting Salvatore Conte (my favourite character ) to go out that soon, but then again..it was inevitable really. Same for Ciro's daughter, that caught me off-guard, but still it was the only way to 'kill' Ciro since nothing else could affect him in any way. Even if he survives, he's the true defeated in the show, his destiny is worse than death.
@4treyu: I'd like your scenario with Patrizia, she's so tough that the task wouldn't be an impossible one
A war of femmene, with Scianel coming back with a reinforced platinum dildo
the fantastic acting (seeing the protagonists outside the Gomorra context is always interesting, their voices and facial expressions are so distant from the ones of the characters that they portray in the series)
This is specially true with Marco D'Amore (Ciro), I've seen some of those interviews with captioning or subs (though it's much easier as a spanish speaker to understand most of what he says when speaking plain italian as opposed to that neapolitan dialect) I find amazing what this guy can do when he gets in character

Exactly, he's pretty much the opposite of Ciro, also in terms of linguistic use. Practically all the main characters are like that (Fortunato Cerlino for instance said that he absolutely despises his character ), they were actually born around those parts, but had to practice really hard to embrace their fictional characters.
Things are different when taking into account the secondary ones, most of those are common people hired from Scampia/Secondigliano, and they actually have criminal records and backgrounds. (even Danielino as far as I know was arrested two years ago)
I'm at ep. 5 at the moment, will the cliches that we all saw dozens of times on other series keep happening or is it more of the same so far? Nice music but everything else is just ok, nothing mindblowing
Spoiler:
stupid fatty with all the gold is annoying as hell, hope for death soon!
EDIT: Should have waited until the end of the episode, now that's better

Well if you haven't liked it up until episode 4-5 (cliché is not a word I would remotely associate with this series) then I'd be skeptical that you will end up liking the rest. So, use caution if continuing watching
- typical spoiled and soft heir of the throne... check
- typical ruthless boss pushing his crew not giving a fuck about pretty much any of them... check
- typical bitch only interested in fatty's money, trying to turn him against his mother (at the very least, doesn't seem to like ciro much too )
- typical finances guy taking a risk and getting way way over his head (although I really liked the way that ended... so far)
These are some of the things we've seen a fair bit on other shows, no?
Only guy I can't get an accurate read so far is ciro, and that's kinda what's keeping me going.
Well that and the all around good performances.
Thought ep.4 would bring another perspective to the series but

this is not
So far, at least. But the stuff is brewing between ciro and you know who, might get interesting

The only thing I agree as being cliché in what you listed is...
Spoiler:
- The accountant guy thing,
The rest seems to be some misundertanding from your part, or not enough information yet in several cases
If you're patient enough, a virtue missing in many people in our times, you might get rewarded with better understanding.
Also, I didn't coin it as the European Wire, that's coming from many people both sides of the "pond". It's very different to The Wire, yet they share that welcome crudeness and real-thing street storytelling
trying to set Genny against his mother. She didn't give a fuck about that.
But ok, gold-diggers are as cliché as it gets, that's why there are so many of them in our world
Also, be ready to see some radical changes soon, which by the end of S2 haven't been completely explained (just hinted at with short scenes). I still think they will get into that in upcoming seasons. No Lindelost kind of stuff though, don't worry

Oh, I still do want to visit Naples, it can't be worse than the #1 most dangerous city in the planet where I happen to live I will still stay away from certain areas and be back to the hotel before the sun goes down, though
I only just watched it last week (binged both seasons). I think it's good, not as good as people here are making it out to be.
Spoiler:
It's basically 'how to screw your friends over' episode after episode despite any alliances that are made. Any 'twist' they try to come up with (especially in regards to who's going to be betrayed) you can generally see coming a mile off.
I thought S1 was way better than S2. And despite what postcards have led me to beleive, I also no longer want to visit Naples
Yeah, it has some good/great acting, very good music and some great photography. But story and character wise, so far (ep7) it's a bit "been there, done that"
Spoiler:
dat gilf tho

Speaking of Naples, the touristic part of the city is relatively safe (still, you have to be extra-careful), but as soon as you leave that, you have a wild jungle of madness as you can expect. If you really have to (don't) I would only recommend a quick visit, key areas for one day and farewell, that's what I did too.
On the bright side, you won't find any ISIS activity there as the city is too hardcore even for them
Done!
Season 1 > season 2, but only the latter part of season 1. As a whole season 2 feels more balanced than season 1, if a tiny bit more predictable (but still highly entertaining).
Definitely some of the best stuff on TV right now
