if someone still cares about this(not me, but maybe someone), its playable at the gamescom right now: for now, they are showing a 3 phase battle with X/A/Y-Wing fighters against the Pies storm on the death star.
Lol! I thought they said they weren't going to do space battles in the original release because of creative direction decisions. Then they swore up and down that they weren't going to release it as DLC. They must think we're all a bunch of idiots. I was super pumped about this game early on, but after the beta, I just never got around to buying it. Now I'm glad I didn't. I'll wait until they finish it, and then I'll wait until it goes on sale.

If this had story mode in it I would play it way more often. The graphics are so nice it is a shame that basically you are getting the beta version of Battlefront 4 essentially.
Looks kinda on rails to me.. certainly not what I would have expected...
It aims at recreating the brilliance of Operation Locker's rush mode, only in space and with droids!
Poor Chewie though, looks like his model remained stuck in the mid 2000s :'(

BTW.. isn't it odd that an early alpha looks and plays better than Star Citizen today...with a lost of the same mechanics...

So no chance to redeem the first one, then (it's far from redeemable, actually, I know!). But was hoping, at least, for skirmish to be developed even further, as things like: SP progression, character customization, online features, ported into offline WOULD have made a nice little interesting Star Wars game out of this mess.
