What 1070 brand to get if i want a card as silent as possible (no watercooling)?
Probably the most silent and coolest air cooled models released so far: Gigabyte Xtreme and Zotac AMP! Extreme. MSI Gaming is ok but it's cooler is not as powerful as Gigabyte's and Zotac's due to a smaller physical size.
Here is good example of Gigabyte Xtreme running 0%, 50% and 100% RPM:

I installed Win10 together with the latest AMD driver suite on the PC of my dad (has a 7950). He has two monitors, so i wanted to try out the Eyefinity feature.
Holy hell is that software still terrible slow!
I'm not lying: First starting up the AMD control panel already took 5-10secs before it even showed up.
Then changing one setting for the Eyefinity stuff took ~10secs to apply. And i had to try out several settings.
Compared with the Nvidia drivers the control panel starts for me after ~2secs and settings get applied pretty much instantly.
Did those drivers come with the old CCC? Because the new AMD Radeon Settings interface comes up right away for me.
@Kanint
Don't know the exact version anymore. It were the latest drivers at the moment ~3 weeks ago when i downloaded them.
Also if i open the control center, it first launches some simplified modern looking window with some settings and tabs.
From there i had to go to the real control center with all options.

This? Took maybe 2-3 seconds for me to open, never even touched that thing before.
Its fast here. I had super slow control panels from amd and nvidia before though.
Im astonished that I can't seem to change the refresh rate from these new redesigned, refined and supercharged settings, though
And this annoy me a bit, because windows at some point started to think that refreshrate is some elitist magic number only for people of the inner circle, so I have to jump through 23 menus until I get there. And this only because my system sometimes likes to set it to 50Hz.
i bought usb extenders and put my pc outside of my room, so loud this 680 is when fans go above 30%
i cant imagine anyone enjoying their experience with loud fans. fanles is the only way to go forward from my pov unles the 1070 or 1060 has made signicicant improvements

I actually found the AMD catalyst faster than nv cpanel. about the only thing I really liked about AMD drivers during the brief time I had the 7970. When you press apply, it's instant. in nv cpanel, there's like a 2 second delay from when you press apply till the app actually refreshes.
However, I use nvcapanel only once after a new driver install, to create my custom resolutions, and use nv inspector, which is lightning fast, for everything else.
this is how nvcpanel is on my system:

it's all about the brand. my msi 970 is completely inaudible over system fans up to 80%.
gaming with headphones even 100% is inaudiable. but moot anyways since i've never had it go over 60% unless I forced it myself.
Is there the real Catalyst Control Center anymore? "Radeon Settings" is oversimplified, can't find some old options, and also can't find how to open CCC (if present).
I've ordered Palit 1070 Super Jetstream and it should be delivered next week. I've sold my r9 390, got 25% write off on a new card so all in all, my 1070 cost me somewere around 250 euros.
The guy at the store offered me some other models too, like: normal Jetstream, ZOTAC 1070 AMP! Edition, AMP! Extreme or EVGA FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 but i went with the above mentioned card.
I've done some research before ordering this card and read nothing but good reviews. I'm really excited about this purchase since i won't be buying a new GPU for a long time.
My GTX 1070 arrived this afternoon! Gonna install it tonight
Super Jetstream was marginally more expensive, like 2 beers more expensive and the rest of the crowd, EVGA and Zotac (AMP! Extreme) cost much more. So decided to go with Palit Super Jetstream.

The new Radeon Settings interface contains most of the settings the old CCC had, but a few of them are still found in the old CCC which can be accessed by Radeon Settings. Basically, the "My Digital Flat-Panels" tab from the old CCC still exists and is accessed from the "Radeon Additional Settings" option.
Since the GTX 1060 is nowhere to be found here I decided to read some more about other manufacturers besides ASUS which seems pretty loud and the warranty being somewhat sketchy, according to reddit anyway. What's this about the Gainward Phoenix GS? Reviews seem to be pretty good. In fact, I'm fairly certain I'll get anything else besides an Asus or Gigabyte. Had a Gainward 760 in the past and it was really good. Any other opinions regarding the Phoenix GS? I'll rely on some of your opinions as well in regards to this purchase.

If I were to buy 1060 I would buy Palit Super Jetstream for sure, seriously check those reviews, looks like a really great, silent card which at least me would be looking for the most, OC in 1060 doesnt matter much anyway.
I can't say anything about 1060, but when i was checking out Gainward/Palit 1070 reviews, i've found out that fan blades on a Super Jetstream have different shape and that on a Palit card (1070/1080) fans spins differently, left fan rotates counterclockwise while right fan rotates clockwise.
MSI it is, then. The Asus seems somewhat overpriced here, somewhere around ~45 euros premium over the rest of the cards for what is essentially a GTX 1060 with a 1070/1080 cooler. Sure, it looks nice but looks aren't anything.

Fuck asus, their strix is shit. Gigabyte also shyte. Just get msi or gainward. I went with gainward even though its bigger because its cooler / as silent as the msi.
That's for 1070s tho.

who cares about epenmark? but yes, relatively low clocked i5 only (dunno if ht makes any difference), but clockspeeds around 4,3ghz should deliver 4-5k points more
