There is none. It's a giant glorified theme-park walking simulator... that's fucking it.

The edgelords will obviously claim that it's all about the exploration and immersion and we should shut the fuck up...

Just another one of those shitty, soulless and repetitive sandbox games I'm so fucking tired of.

I like how the developers got scared, and wanted to change game type from "just exploration" to "exploration++". Laughing

they first said it's a wonderful exploration game, after criticism from gamers they said basically "GUYS GUYS calm down, it's not just exploration BUT there is also gunz." And again, it was of course still not enough for everybody and they added trade and surviving themes/functions to the game.

well it's still not enough for a 60 dollars indie game Very Happy

Not entirely true. What you do to them is saved locally, but the changes aren't seen by other players. YOU will see what you did to a planet.

So you dig a giant crater, another player comes and since he dont see it, land on top of it. Then you come back to see the player floating in midair cause you have the crater and him not?

There is a difference though..

1) We already knew what Rockstar was capable of based on previous GTA games.

2) It was a story driven game with sandbox elements.

3) the gameplay was revealed many times in videos

In this case..well..we've got

1) an unknown developer with a dubious games development history.

2) none of the trailers revealed anything even remotely resembling a story..just "exploration, crafting, trading etc ( and quite simplistic at that) .. basically fucking around without any purpose on -->

3) 18 quintillion randomly generated planets. Are they fucking serious or what?

Laughing

1) Lenovo Legion 7 (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 16Gb, 32Gb DDR4, SSD 1TB +2TB

2) SFFPC (streaming via Moonlight+ Sunshine)

You mean, you're excited based on no gameplay experience and exclusively the hype campaign and you're annoyed that some people with open eyes aren't?

Wait for it to come out and then bitch, if you wanted another space combat sim. this is not it.

Since Josh Parnell's Limit Theory doesen't look as if it will ever come out, I hope this hits the spot.

Oh, I'm sure it being out will make the bitching all better Wink

We're talking about the game based on what information they've released.

Based on that, it's going to be an interesting experiment - but ultimately nothing more than a hollow sandbox.

It's not a big deal, and it's not rocket science.

If you can't take the truth about it, then I'd say stay away until the game is out - and you've played it enough to understand that your denial won't save it.

Then come back and agree.

Either that, or we're wrong - and I'll gladly admit I was talking shit - and I'll apologize right here.

But don't expect me to be wrong about this game. I have the advantage of having no emotional investment. That makes me objective.

It has nothing to do with emotional investment, I have none, its a game why would I have emotional investment..., but I will see when more people play it and comment on it, to judge it, a lot can still change until its release. And its their first game its hard to judge how good they are at their job, if they suck at it we will see soon enough. Wink

What?

Are you seriously here, on a gaming forum, talking about how you don't care about games?

That doesn't compute. We all care. We just care about different games. If you're claiming you don't care about this game - then I have to wonder why you're upset that people have an opinion about it.

It's not about how good the developers are at their job. They could be masters at their job - and they still can't avoid reality. Reality is that such a small team can't generate distinct content worth exploring for the kind of longevity they're suggesting. Also, they're using procedural generation technology - which means they're ACTIVELY not trying to create handmade content. This just reinforces our opinion that it's going to turn really dull, really fast.

If not, it will be the first game in the entire world to have mastered procedurally generated content to the extent that it feels fresh for hundreds of hours - and makes you feel like you're seeing something new that's worth seeing for a long time.

I'll be amazed if that's true. Truly, I will - and I'll be more than happy to be wrong.

If they don't want people to have an opinion - or talk about it - then maybe they should consider stopping the marketing campaign and hype right now?

Nah, that's not how the world works.

In that very same way, I feel supremely confident that Donald Trump will be an absolutely terrible president - even if I've never seen him in that role.

So, you could consider my opinion about No Man's Sky my "vote", if that makes it easier to swallow.

OK...so some guy/idiot bought a PS4 copy off ebay for $2,000 (I kid you not) and has now uploaded a few vids onto dailymotion.

Haven't watched a great deal, but fuck are the graphics piss poor even by PS4 standards. Scratch that, even by PS3 standards. Mr. Green

Here's his reddit thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4v860w/my_journey_has_begun/

and the link to his dailymotion page with the vids, I guess they're the best/dodgiest site for not pulling them as fast as he put them up.

Yea just read that.

Fucking seriously, $2000 for this.

Won't watch the videos though. Prefer to explore the few gameplay features myself.

oh my god so they are...must be within past couple mins they did that, they were up for hour or so.

as above poster says, probably for the best in regards to gameplay/discovery etc. I just noted the quality, or lack thereof, of the graphics, sadly. maybe gameplay will make up for it, but will need to be fucking good gameplay to make up for the mess I saw on there even if pc looks better.

PC will just have less jaggies, which is good of course, but ultimately won't matter if the graphics overall are poor.

At least, I haven't heard of any PC-exclusive effects/details mentioned by the devs? So while possible, I wouldn't expect it.

My thoughts exactly. Getting information out of this slippery fucker over the past few months has been like nailing jelly to a wall. Now he's worried about his cash cows seeing actual gameplay and graphics he can't get onto social media quick enough can he.
