After watching 10 minutes of gameplay on Twitch I can only say this game looks so boring... can't understand the hype for it. Rolling Eyes

Although it does look repetitive I'll wait till i condemn the game as a failure. Chances are not in favor but stil....can't judge before playing it.

Looking at the patch notes, it seems they still rushed the game, even after the delay.

It's a good game for those who want to explore and if they keep updating with features like building, etc it can become a really great game.

However, the hype is probably because there is no good space game currently (Elite Dangerous is boring as fuck according to many and Star Citizen is progressing kinda slow.

I find the whole concept of proceduraly generated space to be flawed. Especially one that ignores your presence in it.

I need unique locations in my space opera. Derelict shipyards, asteroid belts hiding pirate bases, debris from a major battle, strange anomalies. Different factions with their own history, architecture, philosophy and feel. And a gripping story that ties it all together.

Exploration for explorations sake doesn't interest me at all. Size of the galaxy and amount of available exploration doesn't mean anything if it's all vacuous crap.

Just like Star(t?) Citizen you mean? Smile

Yea I kinda agree. Space is so vast that you can literally do anything or use it in game however you like. Your imagination is the limit Smile

Yes, like Star Citizen. Only you know, with a snowballs chance in hell of ever being finished.

But even more like Freelancer. With more stuff in it. Very Happy

Ofc they did they are a small indie studio and had a deadline for printing copys there was nothing they could do about that the update seems to be a massive improvement from the "Gold" version though:
http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/update-1-03/
Hell they changed pretty much everything and even rewrote the story

Edit: what no complains? how dare they improve their game Laughing

If the game is actually good, they deserve the money. I'd rather buy this game 10 times than SW Battleshit 1 time or any other shitty EA title.

One streamer mentioned that the gameplay is okay for about 5-6 hours, then it gets very boring and repetitive, since you're doing the same shit over and over again. I can see it happening even sooner, because it doesn't look very exciting at all - the cartoonish look with horrible pop-in doesn't help at all... The only impressive thing about it is that you can fly through space and land on planets in real-time without any Mass Effect style loading screens or cutscenes which made that series so fucking disappointing.

It's too bad that there's no 3rd person view either, because it would've been nice to have some kind of MMO style character customization, so you can see what you actually look like wearing various suits or armors - it would at least add some variety or depth.

There's definitely a huge demand for more space themed sci-fi games, but being developed by major game studios instead of little indie developers. Imagine Rockstar creating their own space exploration game with amazing graphics and great physics so it would be just as realistic as GTA right now. Or even Ubisoft, instead of making stupid SSX clones no one cares about, what about looking at No Man's Sky and develop their own, bigger, AAA version of it? The hype would be just as insane...

Minecraft is repetitive. CSGO is repetitive. DOTA is repetitive. LOL is repetitive. Hell... fucking GTA is repetitive (go get X then deliver to Y) but it's the atmosphere and the feeling is what makes us play it more. I think it will be a good game overall, especially if they keep updating the game with new features. Noone ever said this will be an MMO. It was always said that it is about exploring and so far what I could see on streams, they delivered on that aspect.

I agree that the atmosphere is very important, but can anyone explain what the main objective of this game is or does it even have any? Just run around, collect stuff and that's it? And if the whole game is randomly generated, doesn't it even make the whole enterprise even more pointless? I do like the music and the sense of loneliness you get while traveling in space, but it can't be enough when the gameplay looks boring as fuck.
