Amazon has announced it has greenlit a fourth season of “Bosch,” its popular Emmy-nominated original drama series based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling novels.

The early renewal comes as the show’s third season is currently in production and slated to premiere in 2017.

That's great news! Approving the 4th without even airing the 3rd means they are pretty sure they have a winning horse.

Just finished S1. It was mediocre to be honest. Everything about it is so extremely ordinary, the characters, the story, the bad guy. Nothing stands out.

I guess i'm too spoiled with series like The Wire and Shield.. The politics bit is really weak too, it was done superbly in both The Wire and Shield, with tons of interesting characters..

S2 is a skip for me unless it's miles ahead of S1.

S2 is better than S1, just not "miles ahead", I really wonder why you compare it to The Wire or The Shield, the only thing in common with those (besides a couple of actors Razz) is that the main characters are police. Bosch is basically detective novel genre, with a pinch of "noir" in it. So yeah, probably better not even try S2 Wink

I personally love it, and I think it's hands down the best tv show produced by Amazon Smile

What's noir about it, that he likes jazz? Razz Nothing "noir" about it..

Yes they are police series mixed with a bit of politics (side stories). Any good series should have more than perhaps 3 decent charaters, shield and wire has around 20 characters who you absolutely love every time they are on screen.. In this there's Bosch who's decent and his partner and boss is "ok". The forensic anthropologist stands out, great actor and a good character, but that's about it, and he had very little screen time.

Wait till you see S2 (oh wait, you won't Razz). And I say a pinch, not that it belongs to the noir genre Wink

No, it's not required. Sometimes 3 good characters (hell, even 2) is all a series need (besides the other good aspects of it) to be good.

If it's True Detective (s01) good, then i agree. But Bosch and his partner is no where near those actors and the characters aren't even close to as interesting or deep, neither was the story.
The series did sometimes try to make a tiny effort with the characters to make them feel more real / connected, e.g when they (well, his partner) plays golf.. That was done pretty well, and then there's the bit with his ex wife and daughter which falls really flat and is just a tremendous bore unfortunately (same with the politics bit which was also very badly done).

This series could work with half decent story but then it would need far more interesting characters.. if i'm bored out of my mind i might give S2 a shot, but i could probably just watch CSI or any other random detective show and be more entertained.

It's not, and it doesn't need to be. Then again you might have even less time than I do to watch TV shows, so you need to keep your quality standards as high as TD S1 and The Wire.

Also. of course Bosch and his partner are nowhere near the McCo and Harrelson tandem, but then again they don't need to be as the show doesn't turn around them as a team Smile

Also, for once I find the teenagae daughter to be a good character in this one, and competently portrayed by that young actress + Nina Myers as the pro poker playing mother and motherfucking Job as the stepfather, cool as shit Razz

I have 100% free time (no family, retired) so i have probably too much free time haha

But well, I finished the whole season, so that says something at least (i watch a lot of shows and never get past even the first 1-2 episodes), police series is a favorite theme for me though (we have quite a few swedish ones, imo they are often better than this).

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I hope s3 is better than s2. I loved s1 but s2 was boring, I gave up after a few episodes. Serials killers are more interesting.

Watched S1 some month ago.. After a few episodes i started to remember that i had seen it before, i very vaguely remembered things, but my guess was that i hadn't watched the entire season. After the last episode i realized i had just seen this whole _very_ mediocre show a second time..

I'm not sure i could give a lower rating than that.. It's so fucking forgettable that you can watch it twice without knowing until it has ended Laughing

I've done this mistake a few times for series, but it has taken me one or perhaps a half episode to realize it, not an entire season Very Happy for each episode i was like "ah, this is probably where i left of, because i do remember this, but not what happens next".

If S2 is 100x times better i'll watch it, i somehow doubt that. I have nothing against the main actor and being a big fan of crime series i can often be a bit forgiving, but man, this show is as generic as it can possibly get..

edit. what the hell.. i watched this in oct. 2016? how is that even possible.. god damnit, could have spent that on S2 Laughing

It's not (more like 2x IMO), so save yourself time and us too, we already went through this.

Just wait for Game of Thrones ain about 2 months, probably more up your alley
