I played uncharted 4 when it came out and recently started rise of the tomb raider on PC and it's certainly worth playing imo.
It has much more actual game, with the harvesting resources, hunting, crafting, exploring, leveling up, opening new paths in old areas with equipment.
has some very cinematic setpieces too that look quite nice.
I think they're different enough and good in their own ways.

I really liked UC4, but it's more of a "cinematic experience" than a game. This is a better game.

The story has been OK so far, but I really like the VA and Lara's facials. Facials are really impressive sometimes, the close-up ones. I think we can all appreciate good, close-up facials.

Finished it, it was alright, I liked the larger more open levels and side quests that unlock equipment, but the story felt like a rehash of the previous game and the action set pieces weren't great mostly due to weak firearm sound effects and weightless, floaty shooting that made using guns very dull.
About the story...
Spoiler: |
Didn't it feel eerily similar to the last one? Lara goes on an expedition to find some mythical object, so far so good, it's what she does.
But, upon arriving at the destination she is separated from her friends, forced to fend for herself, she encounters natives(in the previous games they were hostiles, in this they're friendly) and also immortal warriors who are at conflict with the natives, who are sworn to protect the mythical object.
The immortal warriors are the same as in the previous games, archers, fast guys with swords, slower, heavily armored warriors with shields and heavy weapons, in the previous game they threw ceramic balls filled with gunpowder at you, in this one it's jars of Greek fire.
And the final action set piece is identical in both games, except in RotTR the added danger comes from trebuchet rounds, not from strong winds.
|
It really felt like they took the script for the last one, rewrote a few things and said ''good enough''.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I felt the same. Loved the first one but t his one felt like I was playing exactly the same game. Too much of the same and very little new. QTEs are boring and the franchise has turned into into Falling Simulator. Slower pace would definitely be good and I'm not a huge fan of those pew-pew parts where it felt like I was playing a damn war game.

At times the story felt like a knockoff of Spoiler: | Indiana Jones 3. The scene where the bad guy tortures the blond chick that fucked the protagonist's father, only to reveal her betrayal, is a carbon copy. The whole father subplot, the search for the artifact-that-grants-eternal-life-but-is-totally-not-the-holy-grail, the way Trinity is portrayd as a nazilike force,... |

She-wolf of the SS?
No I think that was Ilsa come to think of it, cheap 80's (?) "erotic" movies, think there's three or four in total with a mix of violence, action and nudity.

of course you wouldn't do that if you live in a place called trans-ylvania. That would be very foolish to do.

I kinda zoned out triangular tits from 1998 till Guardian of Light sparked my interest. So yeah there are a few games on there that I completely missed.
I still think the reboot is meh... but the latest instalment is quite better. Guess it's quite different for the newer generations of gamers. Bet the reboot is more for them.
I could see it end up being milked though. It's moving towards Uplay territory. Le future will tell.

I did, got it on PS3 and PC. Bought it first when I went to check if Guardian of Light had a disc version. Ended up coming home with underworld for 5€ T'was rather a great deal value wise.

Is that why developers stopped doing underwater in games? Because people hate that?! What the fuck?! That's fucking cool, we need more of that, not less!
